What browser(s) do you use?

Since there is another thread with the last answer being from almost 17 years ago and I don't want to resurrect a long dead one, I guess a new thread won't hurt.

I for one use Firefox as it loads most pages a bit faster than Chrome, and most importantly, the support for MV2 continues to exist.

I use Chrome only for Maps and Meet as Google intentionally slows them or breaks them down on Firefox.

I've used Firefox for decades now, only now with the latest build I took advantage of the new setting and turned off the AI enhancements in the AI Controls section. I briefly tried Chrome but it kept crashing and was too much of a hog and dropped it. From time to time, I read up on newbies like Vivaldi that have potential.

I tried Vivaldi but its sync really sucks. Overall, it's probably the best customizable browser out there.

I'm happy with Google Chrome. It's the most popular browser in the world because the "Google" word is attached to it. I had Microsoft Edge but stopped using it because it would automatically set the primary search engine to Yahoo sometimes.

I also used Chrome in the past but because they stopped supporting MV2 addons like uBO, I decided to retire it in favor of Firefox.

I've been using Microsoft Edge ever since I got a new Pc, mostly because it's the default Windows browser, and its similarities to Chrome.

Edge feels too bloated with Copilot, ads, and telemetry stuff. More recently even Chrome added some AI mode.

Firefox.

I use Brave Browser for my personal stuff, which is based on Chromium, which is what Google Chrome uses, except it's more secure from a privacy point of view, and is faster. Used to use Firefox often, but abandoned it as it was sluggish. Brave does have sync, it's not account based but it's chain based and uses a set of phrases to link devices up.

For my day job as a web developer, I use Google Chrome as it's what near enough everyone uses, and the fact it doesn't block anything so code will be able to run. There is the odd occasion where I have to use Safari because of browser quirks, which I hate. I do a quick glance in Firefox due to the different rendering engine, but it's near enough up to the same standards as Chrome.

Brave on my laptop, despite being a gaming one, lags very badly, for some reason, even with hardware acceleration on. Chrome instead is smooth.

On my iPad I always switch between Safari and Chrome. On my PC (which I haven’t used in a long, long time) I always used Chrome.

I've never trusted Chrome since day one. It's spyware disguised as a browser--its main purpose is to collect your data for advertisers.

Brave is a lot safer since it has built-in adblock (no extensions needed!) and it serves all my needs just fine.

If Chrome didn't remove MV2 support from its browsers, I would have probably continued to use it.

Firefox is my main one excepting Google's services, for which I use Chrome instead.

Firefox is also used on my mobile although it really sucks sometimes with the bugs it has.

Another browser I use is Opera, though that's mainly for the VPN whenever I go on Imgur there since it's no longer available in the UK since last September.

Opera is quite bloated in my opinion, and besides that, it has a shady reputation considering it's owned by Chinese.

In elementary school I had Internet Explorer. When I finally found out about Firefox, I switched and loved it. Wow, a browser that didn't crash all the time!

Unfortunately PDFs were really bad in Firefox. So when I went to university and had to stand in line to print the course slides, it was simply too embarrassing to keep using Firefox. People in line would start sighing because I was so slow. I switched to Google Chrome basically immediately.

I switched back to Firefox in 2024 because Google Chrome was giving me notifications that uBlock Origin would stop working soon and I just don't think the internet is safe enough without it. Overall Firefox is a lot better than it used to be and also better than Google Chrome. However, the Microsoft websites don't work properly on Firefox, in particular Microsoft OneDrive is horrendous in Firefox. The Fabric notebooks on app.powerbi.com also work better in Chrome. Google Maps works fine on Firefox on my private laptop, but is somehow terrible on Firefox on my work laptop. So my work laptop has both Firefox and Google Chrome.

(This thread is a great reminder to look for an alternative for OneDrive!)

I also use Firefox on my phone now. The last updates made it a lot better than what it used to be.
