WBD Acquisition Thread

Like I said days ago, with the European Commission, it must take longer.
Not with David Ellison. He’ll do everything to get what he wants quickly. Say goodbye to WB forever.

The European Commission isn't the DOJ. EC represents all the countries of the EU. Not one, like DOJ for the US.
And I've heard that approval is only done when all of the 27 countries do so

True, yet Ellison doesn't seem to think he'll be prevented from speedrunning things the way he wants to do so.

Yup, that's how the process goes but apparently Skydance plans to move ahead after Trump DOJ's rubberstamp sometime around July 15th, if they don't get taken to court:

"Of note, the $31 a share deal was a significant premium to WBD’s price of around $8 before bidding began in the summer, a sign that Wall Street investors believed the company’s future as a standalone entity was particularly bleak.

“Unless this deal gets challenged the plan is to have it closed by July,” said one person with direct knowledge of the matter. “(Paramount) is planning to close the Warner deal 48 hours after it gets regulatory approval by the DOJ. But that’s if it doesn’t get challenged by the states.”"

The EU has to hurry. And so do the states. Ellison is desperate. He's ignoring the other parts of the world. WB will die forever if we don't hurry.

I mean, other than betting on the court system, there's also a chance the pursuit's financing could completely collapses if the U.S. regional war escalates to a level where the Middle East wealth funds pulls out their contributions and Oracle gets dragged down by Open AI due to the AI stock bubble possibly popping.

I wouldn't rule anything out at all but don't overreact like this is a end-of-the-world thing because that's not even healthy for the average person to have.

Again, I don't want to be mean, but in my opinion, if you continue browsing this forum and keep overreacting, nothing will end up better for you.
The EU has to hurry.
They have a legal procedure to follow, they won't give you a special treatment for it.
He's ignoring the other parts of the world.
If the EU blocks it, while the DOJ approves it, it's still a lose to the Ellisons.
WB will die forever if we don't hurry.
My friendly advice would be to stop browsing this forum for a while and concentrate on your other problems. There are many other important things in this life than a simple acquisition.

Also, what "we" can do? Just wait and see what happens. Nothing more or less.

Yup, we can be informed about it but it's just way too far to let it entirely overwhelm and consume our lives every single minute of every day.

We don't even know what else could happen down the road, something unexpected and weird could easily upend all of this, for all we know.

We failed. The DOJ and FCC will approve the merger and it will close in 48 hours in July. RIP WB (1923-2026).

Just stop with the alarmism, @awinger24! The deal isn't done until it's officially done! Only in the event that the merger somehow successfully goes through can you begin panicking!

And even then, I do not know if the merger will actually genuinely adversely affect the fate of Warner Bros. Discovery's kids & family franchises (including of course the legendary Looney Tunes franchise) or not! The Looney Tunes franchise is resilient and long-lived, and it has easily survived a lot of questionable top-down business decisions in the past before either of us were born! There's a chance that it somehow still manages to do relatively fine(ish) even after the merger!

You are so quick to jump to the worst possible conclusions on this matter, and it severely impacts your mood! Paramount under Skydance ownership (not including the yet-to-be-approved pending merger) is doing relatively fine on its own!

Also, Looney Tunes isn't the only property WBD has, though.

Just like Disney with 20th Century Studios, they are going to vault and purge nearly all of WB’s library in favor of the Paramount label entirely. The WB name will cease to exist. Superman will be toned down to match Ellison and what leader’s family wants.

Mate, you're bringing a lot of negative energy to this thread with your negativism. Seriously, you want others to stay away from this thread?

David Ellison is waiting for the DOJ approval. He wants it closed by July without the EU having a say. I just wish there is more information beyond favorable Ellison coverage.

Where are the other regulatory approvals? Ellison wants it approved by July 15th. Lawsuits are just pointless now. Rob Bonta took too long and he failed us.

I don't type on the thread only watch it but look...just calm down if you can't do that then I suggest just leaving the internet and taking a break obviously this merge is having a toll in your mental health

The alarmism attitude is some kind of state they can't get rid of themselves if they keep doubling down on this, like a routine at this point.

And also pre-1986 MGM (including Tom and Jerry), Hanna-Barbera (including Scooby-Doo and pre-1991 Ruby-Spears) and Cartoon Network too!

Disney buying Fox was pretty much like WarnerMedia buying Turner in 1996. Those libraries still actually thrive to these days.

Instead of reacting, this is instant overreacting and I've encountered this from them on another place as well because they had irrational feelings about animation.

Even as I thoroughly explained things, they can't seem to take any value out of it and just pretty much stick to their overreactions.
I repeat it: we still don't know the direct consequences. They will be set up if approved.
Yup, nobody can't accurately predict the future and it can be very different than what we think.

The Ellisons, RedBird, etc. can't control everything the admin wants to do, like the U.S. regional war (considering the wealth funds could pull out their money at any time), even though they're tout that the WH's just a phone call away to lobby what they want.

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
I don't know I gonna post it but i think I may had spread the disney abandoning blue sky studios like they did with fox kids/jetix propaganda onto awinger24 and now hes fears of paramount & warner bros
Europeans right now are experiencing the same Heatwave that africans face on a daily basis lol

honestly I like to think of this as some kind of "payback" too
