WBD Acquisition Thread

"All of them" sounds way too extreme.

Sadly, Ted Turner got hurt a lot after loss of control with Turner channels after bought Time Warner and lost the billion dollars after post-merger with AOL failed.

Ted Turner has a lot of medical issues right now.
When he dies, a part of me will die too, because he created Cartoon Network and I was raised on it already in its originals phase.

Zaslav, we all know you are behind all of these....

Sarandos got $3 billion almost, so, good luck.

Same here, I grew up with Cartoon Network in early 1990s and Boomerang in 2000s. I remembered about TBS and TNT aired cartoon shows before and shortly after Cartoon Network launched.

My parents watched CNN a lot in 1980s and 1990s until AOL screwed the CNN.

With Oracle and AI bubble behind, that's what eased their efforts up.

Now I'm expecting the remaining Brazilian WBD channels to shut down. The channels from the Paramount wing all closed on New Year's Day there.

Some new interesting articles popped up.

All WBD employees should boycott working, stop what they are doing and go on strike, even if this means getting fired.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to fire striking workers.

From Variety earlier:

Per an SEC filing, Netflix said Warner Bros. Discovery “provided notice to Netflix that it had terminated the Merger Agreement in accordance with its terms in order to enter into an Agreement and Plan of Merger with PSKY in respect of such Company Superior Proposal. Concurrently with the termination of the Merger Agreement and entry into such agreement between WBD and PSKY, PSKY, on behalf of WBD, paid the $2,800,000,000 termination fee owed to Netflix in accordance with the terms of the Merger Agreement.”

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to fire striking workers.
It is only illegal to fire if there is labor dispute, not related to disagreement over M&A.

If it is in case with strike over M&A, mergers with AOL and AT&T wouldn't happen at first place because many WB staffers weren't happy with those.

Now i'm worried David Ellison will just get rid of the Warner Bros. brand name.

I would be heartbroken too when Ted Turner will die in the future. I grew up on CN since early 2000's, and it became an important part of my life eventually.

TVN channels (Style, Turbo, Fabuła, etc.) in my opinion will stay untouched. I mostly expect Discovery Life and DTX to shut down.

We don't have the Xtra channels like DTX and IDX. Our ID feed was an IDX though.

Well, what you can actually cut in Italy? Frisbee and K2? Yeah, perhaps just those.
But we're talking of Paramount, that managed to close channels with an audience, so, maybe their scrissors would come for channels you're not expecting.

Antitrust laws are pointless. The deal will get approved and finish in October 2026.

PSKY estimates that it will close between 09.2026-01.2027.

Ellison's promises...... and then after a few months he makes a 180° turn after he finishes buying WBD.
