WBD Acquisition Thread

Yeah, we need an hero both in UK and Italy, regarding those FTA channels.
I'm just very unsure on if they can buy wholesale all those channels in Italy, because of the LCN limit (and Sky already has TV8 and Cielo)
They would shut down Super! in the blink of an eye, if that meant maximise the DTT channels.

But since the atmosphere is tense between the EU and the US, this can't really go well, I hope, at least

Back when AT&T bought Time Warner, Trump was at the office, and the EU still approved the acquisition. So I can't really think about it.

Super! would finally breath with a closure... No idea, but between Comcast and Paramount, I'd pick the former.
I also have no idea what would be for Boing, since Mediaset owns half of it.

Yeah, but the current situation has far worsened now.
Plus, it was far from being this big of a merger

That doesn't really mean they can't approve the offer, though. And that also doesn't mean Trump won't put pressure on the EU will all sorts of stuff to approve the acquisition in that case. Especially since as I said, they (Ellisons) have connections with Trump.

Zach and Michael's decision to abruptly end Smiling Friends couldn't have come at a better time, I wouldn't be shocked if the thought of making the show under Paramount was a factor in their decision to end it.

we gonna have looney tunes, nickelodeon & blue sky studios characters (because of what disney did to them) helding protests now!

They can, but WBD has just a large weight on the EU markets, e.g. channels in Scandinavia, in Italy, TVN in Poland (one of the few liberal and opposition media in Poland), and so on with entertainment and documentary channels of all kinds.

All of that wouldn't pass unnoticed, I hope at least. The EU is reacting, although rather slowly

We will have to see

I'm especially insistent over the March Madness simulcasts.

While I appreciate that all games have been on national TV since 2011, I am also concerned for people who don't have cable or even any form of streaming service. I want fans of teams who frequently make the NCAA tournament to be able to watch all of their team's tournament games, even if they only have an antenna.

Paramount has less assets, less value than WBD, less "presence" in Europe, so I doubt the EU will reject the acquisition.

Looks like WBD’s cable assets won’t get shot out back after all. (Getting split off into a new company with mountains of debt pretty much guarantees a short future)

At least, I think so. Last I remember, Paramount wanted to buy everything, including the cable assets. If that’s changed with Paramount’s new deal, please correct me

Video from NBC News regarding Netflix's announcement:

Paramount, yes, but the two combined? The EU knows quite well who is behind Paramount now, and a reaction seems inevitable.

Although yes, the EU can also be tiredly lenient

The better question is, if EU rejects but in the US it gets approved, what would happen next?

CNN will likely be no more in 10 years if it goes full MAGA under the Ellisons. If a channel suffers from low ratings, then it is a money-losing proposition to keep it operating.

A lot of questions have to be answered... would Paramount only buy the WBD streaming assets or everything altogether?
I shudder at them owning everything, but I don't want to think it would be that easy, even for Ellison and his friends...

Glad I got you to watch Stranger Things.

If I may recommend more media for you to check out, here's a starter:

You've mentioned that haven't read the original TMNT comics from Mirage Studios. Well, this video by YouTuber "Soundout12" gives a decent roadmap for where to start:

dmxx116 really likes to wish for people not to return back to so and so because their films didn't do so well. I don't agree with everything he says, though I agree on that Jared Leto shouldn't play Skeletor.
I'm sorry but I disagree with what GRPHX said about the past five films with Daniel Craig as James Bond as well as the choice of Denis Villeneuve as director and Steven Knight as writer in the next film because I really doubt Villeneuve's take will be like the Craig films at all and besides, all of the stuff he mentioned happened before the Craig films such as Licence to Kill.

Hi, welcome to Toonzone

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
