Yeah, the service has a bad reputation over here, especially because of its limitations
And it’s still unprofitable while Comcast is entirely focused on making sure Peacock crosses its profitability stage.
Will it become a Peacock-only service or a Paramount+-only service in the future? Will it be straight-up replaced with the actual Paramount+ (including in Nordic countries where P+ was outright replaced with SkyShowtime)?
And what about the partially unrecognized Kosovo, the only territory I know of that has SkyShowtime but not HBO Max?
Peacock hitting peak subscriber growth in U.S. is a shining moment for Comcast.
It’s time for them to use that $9B and boost the platform, NBCUniversal, & Sky with bite-size purchases like Lionsgate, Starz, and AMC Networks.
Zaslav will probably expand HBO Max to Kosovo before Comcast files a breach lawsuit against Skydance.
Peacock Europe, one can dream
If Donna Langley is given the opportunity to retool Peacock and then expand internationally, it could be called Universal Access.
And pulling out of SkyShowtime means she doesn’t have to attend meetings with the wacky Ellisons or any of their Skydance lieutenants anymore.
I thought National Amusements went defunct and morphed into Paramount Skydance.
I think Larry & David are also retaining National Amusements (NAI) around for tax-related purposes. If they simply take out the voting shares and move it to another holding entity right now, they might be forced to do different financial reporting disclosures, which could expose them to new tax liabilities
It wouldn’t be that surprising if their lawyers and bankers are telling them to leave it like that and reap benefits like the Redstones originally did.
If Larry sells off the entirety of Paramount Global down the road for money to prop up Oracle after a potential AI stock bubble crash, the new suitor could easily do away with the NAI holding structure.
