"VICTORiOUS" Series Talkback (Spoilers)

The new series from Dan Schneider (creator of All That, iCarly, etc.) premieres tonight at 9:30PM on Nickelodeon, with more episodes coming starting April 11th at 8PM.
Don't worry if you miss the premiere, Nick will have plenty of reruns.

This was a good episode. I noticed that the stage manager was on the iCarly episode iWas A Pageant Girl.

I went on TheSlap.com and I love how they make these "Schneider" websites real. TheSlap.com is basically a social network.

That was fantastic. Did they just get away with using the word "nudes" on this show?

The ventriloquist dummy, Rex, was awesome, as was the character Cat.

"I'm Cat."
"Oh, like the animal."
"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?"


Also, why didn't they use the intro? Because the episode started a minute late?

Also, apparently, Cat's line "What's that supposed to mean!?" is a nod to The Amanda Show.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't really like Victoria Justice in Zoey 101, and, despite my faith in Dan, I was wary that he'd lowered his standrads to the level of a Disney kidcom rip-off. I was actually laughing out loud at least three or four times here, and that's more than I can say for the KCAs!

Yep, April 11th, with the episode "The Bird Scence".

Was Mr. Sikowitz played by the same guy who was the wood shop teacher on Ned's Declassified? Sounds and looks like the same guy.

An extended version of the pilot episode, in HD (and I mean REALLY HD) is now on iTunes (it isn't free, though)

Not sure what's extended, but the intro is absent still. Guess we'll have to wait until April 11 to see it.

As for what I said about the outro.. I'm pretty sure it is a sound clip of Josh Peck from one of the earlier episodes.
It's "You're a demon!", which is heard when the Sony Music logo pops up.


EDIT: 20 seconds into the episode, look at the fridge. There's an iCarly magnet on there.
Hinting towards that crossover with iCarly? (which I can only hope they'll do a tri-crossover with that and D&J - I have a feeling Megan and Jade would get along pretty well.)

Some ratings news:

It appears that this Victorious "sneak preview" premier was watched by over 5 million viewers, which I think is higher than the premier ratings for almost every other current live-action TV show on Nickelodeon or Disney. The ratings will be confirmed soon.

The pilot has re-aired on Nickelodeon since the Saturday night premier, so it's now been seen my many more millions of people.

The pilot also made the Top 10 on iTunes, which is really amazing. As I write this, it's currently at #6 (of all TV shows). Thanks to all the fans who made that happen. It's unusual for a brand new TV show to crack the Top 10 on iTunes.

Hopefully it can stay stable against The Simpsons when it goes to 8PM on Sundays.

About 5.7 million watched the VICTORiOUS premiere after the KCAs. That's not as many that stuck around last year for the Penguins of Madagascar premiere (which was about 6.4 million). However, it's the second highest rated live-action premiere (behind Big Time Rush).

I really won't be surprised if someone starts up a Tori-Jade pairing.

I don't think I want to think about what will be done amongst the fanfic writers with Rex.


Am I the only one who thinks Cat is going to end up revealed to be similar to Numbuh 3 in Codename: KND, how she was actually very smart, but acted wacky and unintelligent because she was naive? I'm getting a feeling that's the case.
Speaking of that, the voice she does in one of the deleted scenes (seen in the version of the episode available on iTunes) was awesome. It was the first improv scene.

I have to say, this was quite a funny pilot, especially near the end. Not only did Victoria get back at that one girl, but it was all done with consecutive letters, probably bothering the script writers to no end when in the writers room. Not only that, but the acting was pretty good, comparable to Drake and Josh quality. Maybe this can keep me on Nick after iCarly finished its run. Of course, iCarly did the same with Drake and Josh. I guess this Dan guy knows what he is doing.

Why do they not have this online streaming for free? Is it because it has not yet had a full premier? I mean, if South Park can do free streaming, I am sure Nick can as well.

No free streaming, but the episode is up on the iTunes Store for sale. It's an extended version too.

Speaking of that, Rex saying "Paces? Man, this girl's not a pirate!" and Cat's line in the first improv scene (because the voice Ariana did was awesome) shouldn't have been removed..


Also, in the promo for the next episode... they're getting away with Andre calling Tori "white girl"?

Andre's my favorite character so far. I laughed at what he said after he got out on the ABC game. "Man, I just my toebone fixed...."

Andre's grandmother was pretty funny, but yes, Andre stole the show. The only thing Tori did was win over "Black haired girl's" boyfriend using clever words. Andre kept the story going. I only wished Tori swung at the girl when she poured coffee on her as that is what would have happened in real life.
