To A Future That Never Ends?-Gundam SEED Discussion

If it ever needs more power for a drama scene, you can always go "Trans-am" and make it a power-up with a drawback.

We really do need a clear answer on the SEED factor, something the movie needs to address. It somewhat makes sense for the Coordinators to have it, but I think Cagalli achieving the SEED factor was a mistake that threw a lot of people off.

It made me believe that Cagalli was a Coordinator for a long, long time (especially as she brought up that theory herself right before the final battle).

I'm not one to usually say this, but I wish Lacus had gotten her hands dirty at some point in SEED or Destiny. Lacus' ideals and "innocence" taking a blow of some kind would've brought more realism to her character.

I agree. She should have at least personally killed someone...

You know, it has got to suck to pilot a Windam or a Murasame in Destiny. Everytime you go out, which is normally only once, you are facing a gundam, whose capabilities far surpass yours, not neccessarily because of the pilot, but the machine itself. Do these soldiers realize they are pretty much flying to their death? Unless I was actually piloting a Gundam, there is no way in hell I would get in a Zaku, Murasame or Windam.

Also, it was probably stated, as I remember it being slightly touched on, but can coordinators have children? Just not by normal methods?

If that is the case, and say they take this movie into the future quite a bit, say...20 or so years.

Would you want the show to focus on the kids of the "main" characters?

I'm not sure if I like that idea, as I am quite fond of Kira and such, but I suppose it would allow the writers more freedom for the story. Still, not sure if I would be happy with it.

NO kids. I'm sorry, it's a disgusting fan fic idea and can easily go so very wrong. Maybe for an epilogue but I don't see them adding anything useful and we'd probably get 'ZOMG it's Kira and Lacus kid who's even MORE special!!'

I think it's doable, but the fertility rate is very low. I forget how much of the current PLANT population are actually natural births as opposed to test tube babies. Suffice to say that the situation is bad enough that the sustainability of the coordinator population is very much in question.

Only if the parents were in supporting roles. Such characters really need their own identity established. I wouldn't hold my breath for this, though. Marriage is something Gundam's never given much attention to. It's probably easier to write new characters with different backgrounds and perspectives, although that doesn't mean that this should never be tried. Just...not for Seed. The characters we've got still have issues to work out.

I've been saying that since Wing. These cannon fodder aren't even fodder anymore. They're just lambs being led to the slaughter. Especially in the Cosmic Era.

(It must have been really embarrassing for the earth forcesthat one episode of Destiny when the Impulse and two Zaku took down a freakin' battalion!)

Ah, good point on the kids subject, and with those opinions, I agree, no kids.

One has to wonder though, does it really take that much more time to produce a Gundam than a Windam, Zaku or Murasame? If anything I thought at least one nation would try and mass-produce Gundams. Sure, it may cost a lot but in the long run they would, most likely, do more benefit than producing 50-Murasame's.

And what exactly is Lacus at the end of Destiny? The chairwoman? Or whatever the title is for them...

If so, in the movie they could easily try an angle where Coordinators try and eliminate her, and maybe even succeed. I find it almost impossible to believe that EVERYONE is happy that she is ruling the PLANTs, just because her name is Lacus Clyne.

Edit: And sorry for bumping this topic up constantly, since I just watched it again I find myself wanting to talk about it more, ha.

Most likely chairwoman, and obviously a member of the council. They don't spell it out, but it's strongly implied. In the SE she has a full escort and everything, and her arrival at the council is mirrored along with Cagalli leading her own Government.

I agree with that last point, though I don't agree with assassin ideas. It's a dark concept, and I'm reticent to see drama added arbitrarily just to raise the stakes. On top of that, GSD has already gone there with its pair of failed attempts.

....

CHOU KAWAIII~II!

What? It is cute! Just because I'm a guy, I can't support pairings?

Stupid pink haired witch...
*giant Lacus looms behind him* "Silence, little man!...Now, DANCE!!" *controls puppet strings and cackles*

Which still doesn't explain why Endor didn't become a wasteland when the pieces are SUPPOSED to fall down.

Damn. That's drawn really well. It helps that the gold color for the joints is toned down for that one.

Hrg... Dammit why is it that no matter how much I want to hate those MS they're always given relatively interesting stills and poses post-Destiny that makes them actually look cool?

Easy: A simple singular Sunrise mentality

"Come on guys, we've got to market this crud out as hard as we can. We're here to make money not entertainment!" :p

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
