Thugaboo Talkback

Best thing they ever did was that show that aired on WB a decade back. And Don't Be A Menace. Otherwise, I don't really care either way. But what's good with this cartoon, maybe I'll check it out.

i don't believe it. they are showing this and they took invader zim off because they thought it was too "gothic."

For you the word "gothic" does it means to you? There are many reasons aside of gothic as you say for the cancellation of Zim.

Anyway i don't know why Nick picked a cartoon just because the creators are infamous by doing movies. Not to sound racist or anything but watching a cartoon that the main characters are black with rap music doesn't appeal to me much at all. I would like for once they do a cartoon with black people without rap music but i know it's not going to happen. At least they should have done a decent style of animation like the Boondocks, the animation is horrible.

I don't think this cartoon will last for a second season. Nick should really think on picking up cartoons like they did with Avatar.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Zim gets multiple airings a day, and they're still premiering never-before-seen episodes once a week.

Yeah, but those "never-before-seen" episodes could have been aired years ago. Also, it gets multiple airings a day on the Nicktoons Network, instead of Nickelodeon which has more viewers.

I tuned to it for a good 5 minutes last night and that was giving it a benifit of the doubt. But I have to say I didn't like it and it doesn't catter to me at all(which is a first for any anime/cartoon) as I am fairly open minded to shows like these.

It's official: there will be NOTHING worth watching on Nick once new Danny Phantom episodes end. Between Mr. Meaty, Kappa Mikey, the ninja school thing, and this steaming pile, none of these shows will be a hit. I just pray that there are enough people that will realize that.

Any comments on the special? I really don't want this thread to turn into yet another "OMG NICK IS DOOMED" bashfest.

I just saw an ad for it. Anyone remember "Muppet Babies"? This looked like "Ghetto Babies", no lie. In one part of the ad this one kid shoots a long string of green snot out of his nostril into a bowl. GOD!!! Right now I hate Nick.

It was basically your standard generic boring unfunny "if it's weird, it's funny" equation, stretched out for too long...

I actually thought the gross humor was kept to a minimum in this special. Aside from the aforementioned "black pool" joke and the snot thing, I can't remember many yuck gags. To be honest, I found more gross gags in the two Rugrats movies.

EDIT:

Now we're getting somewhere. What specifically did you find boring and unfunny about it? Were there certain scenes that you hated? Liked?

Eh, the coming of this show, Mr. Meaty, and the others, further fuels my opinion that Nick currently is all junk besides Avatar. (I think the network reached it's limit when they cancelled Zim...)

I don't get Nicktoons Network, but even if I did I know I wouldn't have watched it. It's just so painfully obvious that Nick is deteriorating into something that not only I would not watch, but try to get other to stop watching. It's that bad. Besides, I don't trust anything the Wayans Brothers make because they've become synonymous with presenting poorly made and ridiculed media. I don't want Nickelodeon to do the same.

Well it's not entirely fair to judge something you haven't seen. Yes, it's certainly understandable to be cautious about watching it if you weren't a fan of Wayans' previous works (and I too have never been a fan of their stuff), but you can't say with 100% certainty that it sucks unless you've seen it. That's all I'm saying.

Yup, I'm going to be brave and post a talkback for this special.

I did decide to check this out. And if it does become a series, I don't think I'd watch it regulary. Watching this was enough. I started out not liking it, but as it progressed, there were a few dry humor jokes and LOTS of induendo(sp?) which made it enjoyable. But toward the end, I was ready to turn it off. They drug it out way too long. It would ahve done better as a half-hour special, imo.. It makes me wonder what Nick is doing with this. Are theu turning it into a show? Is this a one-time special. it was EXTREMLY underpromoted, and aired in a really crappy timeslot.

Anyone else glance at this special?.......Anyone?..........

We've kinda been talking about this in another thread. :) Hold on, lemme merge the two...

EDIT: I went ahead and renamed this thread to make it easier for people to see. I've also stickied it for now.

EDIT 2: I agree that the special would've worked better as a half hour. There were some scenes in the special, especially during the mall scene, that dragged. The pacing was definitely very relaxed.

People toward the top of the thread page making the bad comments...Did you check the show out? Imo, the previews made the show look HORRIBLE, but once I sat down and watched it in full, it wasn't half bad (5/10 for me)...It wasn't all about snot and trash talking kids...it had a plot. Nick just doesn't have a keen eye for advertizing it's stuff.

I will not comment on the special yet, I have only watched the first 5 minutes so far. I have to say, Nick seems to want to keep this quiet. There is no promotion of it on Nick.com (as far as I can tell), I just started seeing the ads for it on Nick late today (all afternoon they keep promoting SpongeBob, like it needs it).

All in all, Nick has had a very, very dull summer compared to CN and Disney. The other two networks have had original episodes of their original shows on every week this summer ...... but Nick ........ nothing, just a few movies, and WAY to many repeats. I know this doesn't need to be the bash Nick thread, but I just wanted to point that out as well. I will try and comment on the special when I watch it in full.

Repeats is really what keeps Nick going (ie Sat and Sun morning repeats - FOP and Sponge).

Has Mr. Meaty come on yet? Why are people judging it before it comes on? Really.

Has anyone here ever taken a tour of the Cartoon Network Studios building in Burbank, CA before it closed? I really wish I could have :(
To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s
