Thoughts on the DCAU

So having finished JLU I have to say overall it and Justice League were definitely very ambitious and were like a celebration of DC, but I also feel like they lack something that BTAS, Superman and even Batman Beyond had.

I don't feel like they had enough of their own identity because they basically did what Superman had already done (i.e. expand the overall universe) but just on a more elaborate scale. The increased presence of both Lex Luthor and Brainiac made them feel like they were just extensions of that show; I'm not saying that was a bad idea but I think that explains why in the end I was a bit disappointed.

Give the Justice League vs. Fatal Five movie and Justice League Infinity comic a shot. They're canon continuations to JLU.

BTAS and STAS were amazing and all but I don't need eating prime rib all the time. JL/JLU was a pizza party and I loved it just as much. It was a great run.

They certainly weren't bad in any way, and if anything I'm grateful because they made me realise how influential STAS really was.

I'm giving The Batman 2004 series a watch at the moment and while not as good as BTAS it has its fair share of good episodes and defining moments.

A civilian supporting cast for the heroes? To me it definitely feels like they don't really have meaningful lives or relationships outside of the League, which makes the world feel smaller.
