The Simpsons drawing style

(INot sure whether it has been discussed. It didn't come up with the search words I used.)

After the upgrade from crude drawings of Season #1 to the polished art from Season #2 forward I thought the artwork was fine and I especially liked the refinements made to each character.

However I find the current implementation of shadow/highlight to be inferior. The shadow is too dark. It makes everything look gloomy.

Now that I have expressed my dissatisfaction I can sleep again.

I agree with you I am not a big fan of the current animation design because it really needs to be to spiffy, and I feel like less detail was better for the show.
