The Secret Saturdays - "Kur Part 2" 11/14

Yeah that episode was so cool! Zak didn't go easy on those Nagas.

I watched the episode a second time today (the DVR is such a wonderful invention :p ). Aside from wanting to "lolwut?" at the conservation of momentum (or lack thereof) a couple times, I remembered how much I really appreciated getting to see the scientific side of Doyle again.

I mean, in his first episode as a good guy he uses a chemical compound of his own design, and by saying "not all science has to be boring" implies that he knows a fair bit about science too. Second episode, he displays enough engineering know-how to improve one of Doc's inventions. Then... The Doyle Science Love stops. Heck, he even says he's not much for reading. It's nice to see again that Doyle is a thinky-buildy guy in addition to being a kicky-punchy guy.

One thing I will say is that I was overjoyed when I saw that CN put the episode on the site. I had missed it.

The episode embodied everything I love about TSS:
1. Fantasy
2. Action
3. Story-Arc
4. Large Weaponry

A much more action-oriented episode then the last, the fact that the Naga waged war on humans by essentially exposing themselves must be hard on the Saturdays. They took in their time and effort to keep the Cryptids safe from human eyes, only for that to be dash in minutes. Even more so now that Zak is made bad in the public's light. The dramatic angle and cliffhanger on how the family will deal with everyone - both the Secret Scientists and the public media - must be daunting. How they will figure it out will no doubt be one awesome story arc and I eagerly await the results.

I also applaud Jay Stephens and the crew for showing these creatures attacking human with implied causalities. Despite being a kid's show, it's nice to know he didn't sugarcoat the danger and impending doom that the rise of Kur could bring.

That said, Fisk said it best when Zak agrees to Argost's terms, "Say what?" Heart pounding, to say the least.

But you have to wonder if Zak is planning to let Argost think he has the upper hand while preparing to take him down when he pulls something.

I kinda doubt that since Zak's struggling being Kur and doesn't see any other options but to trust Argost because he might have more vital information about Kur than any other. Even if Zak's planning something to win the upper hand, Argost always is one step ahead.

Doubtful. Zak may be the all-powerful Kur, but he's still just a 12-year-old kid. He's not clever enough to put one over on the likes of V.V. Argost. This just seems like a desperation move on Zak's part.

Perhaps, but I'm sure Argost has already planned for Zak planning that. Of course, Zak could plan for Argost planning for Zak planning that, then Argost could plan for Zak planning for Argost planning for ...

Ahem. You get the idea. :)

Have I mentioned how much I love Argost's evil laugh? :D "Nya ha HA!"

YES. I was really thinking that Argost was really dead and I was like : " WTF STEPHENS?!"

But as soon as I saw that shadow take down Rani Nagi , and when I heard that " Ooh~ Dear Boy" I was so delighted to see that he was indeed alive <3

This show is better than a lot of the Live-Action shows on Major Networks.

I love your work Mr. Stephens. Keep it up!

So was I. I got really mad at the cliffhanger last season and threw my soup at the TV. :3

But common sense told me that Argost was indeed alive all along. He IS one of the most influential villains, and WAS the most influential villain up until Rani Nagi came along midway through last season. So I said, "Nah. He's alive."

I agree, though. It just made me so happy to see him alive. :anime:

Argost didn't died yet he was defeated bad by Zak, which he probably feel humiliated that a 11 year old boy defeated the great Argost but at the same time he realize in that moment that Zak's Kur since watching that power and not to mention explaining why Zak has similar powers on controlling Cryptids, also the reason of his disappearance is that he might travel to different places looking for some vital information about Kur, something that he might miss and use that info for his advantage.

I think he found that information and returned but at the same time he waits for the right moment, until now he's trying to win Zak's trust even by saying that he might betray him yet he knows Zak will want to know more about his powers because Argost's the only one that has more knowledge about Kur than anyone else, we all seen that on the first episode of Season 1.

Great episode. More action, plenty of unexpected twists, great work on animation and sound mixing. Brought up a lot of questions that will hopefully be answered in the season.

"Van Rook is a shiny, purple, donut monkey." Just writing that makes me laugh a little. How can it not? Seriously, try saying that with a straight face. I know I can't.

Once more, bravo on the awesome episode all you working on TSS! Many virtual hugs for you all! And virtual cookies! You deserve it!

So with this Kur part 1 and 2 it shows us two big things,

The Naga's see Kur as there Lord and Master.

V.V Argost see's Kur as a wepon only and once used, must be destoryed(As heard in Target:Firskerton, "No snacking untl Im done with my prize")

But Jay, I have a question...how did Van Rook go broke? From what I can tell he was very cheap and didnt like to spend money, and before he was dethroned had alot of cash, so what happend, he spent it all on gambling or something?

I must Reiterate "I have to say, i'm worried. Drew and Doc have clearly showed they trust him. But when they find out about his deal with Argost, i'm worried they'll lose all trust for him and Fisk and in Doyle, who helped keep the secret. I'm worried!" Also, if the other Secret Scientists find out that Zak has allied himself with Argost, that'll only confirm their thoughts about him being a danger. And worse his parents and possibly even Doyle and Komodo may agree with them on that. I'm worried. Also, what do think Wadi, Ulraj or even Epislon and Francis will do when they hear about this?

A bit drama there, don't you think? Doc and Drew will loose all trust on Zak but at the same time they can't judge him on what he did because of his desperation for seeking answers, they know that Argost is the only one with the answers and as much they hate the idea neither of them know anything about Kur and what it can do, they have no choice.

Wadi and Ulraj may already know since it passed 6 months(i think) from the Antarctica incident but i doubt they make a big deal out of it. Epsilon and Francis already know, what you do need to worry is what plans Epsilon and his team has for Zak and the family.

I agree. There's proof enough in Doyle's searching for Argost in the first two episodes: Argost knows something. Quite a few things, by the looks of it. And at this point, he is the only one with the answers.

On the subject of Ulraj and Wadi, I've been quite looking forward to their returns. :3

Maybe Zak'll even get pantsed again, who knows?

(P.S. XD I just finished reading "The Hunger Games." It took me about seven hours, but it was worth it. Suzanne Collins is now even more awesome.)

Theory

I have several theories to some of the questions left by Kur parts 1 and 2.

First, Argost is actually a cryptid:confused:. This is probably very unlikely, and if it is true, it will not be revealed until the last episode. This is my best reason why he knows so much about crytids.

Secondly, Argost always seems to be one step ahead of Zak. He probably offered to help train Zak so that he knows how far Zak is progressing.

Finally, Argost probably also knew that Zak was trying to dig up dirt on him. He either has safe guards on his secrets, making it hard to find out Argost's past. If Argost is a cryptid, Zak has got a lot of work to do before he defeats Argost.

Welcome to TZ and those are nice theories.

1. I don't think so but at the same time he might splice himself with different kinds of Cryptids. Think of Munya, also the episode of the Honey Island Swamp.

2. He offer to train Zak because he knows that Zak's still a child, Argost's just showing his first foot steps to take control of his powers.

I think of Argost as Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, i mean the way he took down Naga and how he climb those buildings he's not human anymore.

Yeah, that climb significantly increased the odds of Argost being a cryptid (i.e. I won't scoff at the idea anymore :p ). Oddly enough though, that really combines with Zak's request for information on Argost "before Weird World" to make me think of Argost as more likely a cryptid than before. I mean, if Doyle tries and fails to come up with pre-Weird World stuff, then, well... Yeah. :anime:

Argost is boss though. Any pre-TSS history he has isn't likely to be pedestrian. I can imagine it would have been quite the feat to dream up something that wouldn't be a disappointment. Here's to hoping for a big reveal near the end of the season, and that it be a good one.

I always thought he had those sharp claws, which helped him grab on, and he definitely always had super strength which helped him jump so high. I think he's more of a meta-human than a cryptid, or something like zak and munya, a half cryptid. edit: and if he's a cryptid that'll be the easiest way to beat him, because zak will just control him.
