The Official Lilo and Stitch Talkback Thread (Spoilers)

Considering it came from Lilo, don't you think it could have been one of the film's jokes?

I wrote it off as a bit of hero worship--I thought it was sort of sweet that even though she's a bit more cynical and worldly than most kids her age, she's still naive about Elvis' lifestyle, because she adores his music. The only characteristics she really seems to be aware of are that he sings, plays guitar, and is romantic.

The characters in this film have more levels than the average Disney character, and there aren't any who are really "right" / "wrong" archetypes. Just 'cause a character says something, it doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of the filmmakers. Which isn't to say that it doesn't, but...it didn't bother me, at any rate.

- I don't think I'd let little kids watch that movie.

Remember at the time of Elvis popularity he was the role model for what every guy wanted to be and what every girl wanted. Not only that but all of the movies he starred in always had him as the class act guy - for a long time he was considered that generations Tom Cruise - everyone wanted to be like him or just plain wanted him.

I would let little kids watch the movie - it provides a valuable lesson about family and was much needed after some of the recent events that have occurred in the world. Sometimes people need to be reminded about who loves them and I think this film was a good example of this. Why wouldn't you let a child see this film?

There is a difference Between Elvis at his prime and Vegas Elvis. I'm sure they are talking about the Prime Elvis.

Overall an excelent movie. Here's some stuff I noticed.

- This is the closest we're ever going to get to "Invader Zim: The Motion Picture".
- Jumba (the mad scientist, I hope I have the right name) was basically Washu from Tenchi with a Russian accent.

My guess is Lilo formed her opinion of Elvis mainly off of watching his old movies...along with her sister not telling a 7-year-old about the, well, sordid details of his demise :-)

Trivia note: In Indianapolis a plaque is going up at the site of Elvis' last concert (they tore down the arena it was held in last year)...

Re: little kids watching: saw a lot of smaller children there, though they AFAIK they didn't seem too frightened by some of the movie aspects (lots of laughing at a few of the more slapstick aspects)...

I just came back from seeing it (I liked it a lot ^_^) and there were some little kids crying towards the climax of the movie.

Wonderful!

I saw it twice when I was in L.A. The animation was wonderful, the humor was funny, and in place, ("My friends need punishing." Classic!) and the Disney morale didn't make me vomit. Go see the movie. NOW!

I saw it a few days ago,and I loved it!!!!!......It was funny, and I loved the characters.....Definately one of the best Disney movies they've made so far.....

I have never cried at a movie. Never..........well, I can't say that anymore, can I? ;)

Also the characters in the film aren't perfect - basically they all have issues, something that a lot of Disney films in the past has ignored. Trust me - this isn't the typical Disney film.

A character is a social misfit. At the end, the character becomes respected, or at least tolerable.
-Atlantis
-Hercules
-Oliver and Company
-Mulan
-The Jungle Book {in a way...}
-Dumbo
-S'more.

However, only Hercules and Dumbo have social misfits meeting and bonding with each other.

Now, to the real point... :D

Lilo and Stitch was a great movie. It has its obligatory funny points, obligatory tragic points, those "moralistic" points, and obligatory conflicts. The "villian" aspect is kinda hard to pinpoint; Captain Gantu is the villian, but doesn't seem like the major villian until the end.

There was something about the end, though, that was confusing. It was almost as if they had a bunch of loose threads towards the end, and they just tied them all up at once.

Besides, exactly how many times do they capture him? It gets a bit redundant. :p

Finally saw this movie two nights ago (dragged two of my friends with me too :p ). Anyways, loved it. Stitch is an awesome character and so is Lilo. One thing Disney has been able to amaze me that no other company has is there detail to how children behave and think. Lilo reminded me of myself and other people when we were young and growing up, and the relationship she has with her sister Nani is one I have with my sisters. :)

Great story, great characters, and great humor... I HIGHLY recommend everyone to see this movie if they haven't! :D

Basically my point was that each of the movies that you listed all have villains that are clearly identifiable - Lilo and Stitch doesn't really have a villain so to speak. Captain Gantu is just doing his job and Stitch was built on destroying things. None of the characters came off as perfect and it's funny because the more realistic feel to the film made me go see it a second time this past weekend.

I thought the dialogue was excellent. "My friends need to be punished." "I think it's some kind of koala....some kind of evil koala."

I saw this today. Disney Animation hit their third straight home run (after The Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis).

It was nice that Lilo wasn't an ordinary child in a Disney film, animated or otherwise. I also liked how Stitch, while destructive, turned out to be likable. Overall, this was a well-performed (and sometimes very funny) animated movie.

Neither have I, but I lost it when
Nani was crying after Lilo had been taken by Gantu. It really gets you when you lose a family member, you know?

I thought the character lost a bit of his charm when he jarringly gained the ability to talk,

I saw the movie, and loved it as well. I only have a minor disagreement with your thoughtful review. In regard to the talking bit, he said some sort of obscenity in an alien language in the beginning, that greatly offended some of the federation council. He also talked to Lilo at the dog pound. But, when Lilo told the adults that Stitch could talk, they said that, that was nonsense, that dogs couldn't talk. So, Stitch hearing that, kept quiet afterwards.

Yeah, that's who he reminded me of, as well. And Stitch is slightly reminiscent of Ryo-ohki. An intelligent, cute and fluffy life-form created as a weapon of mass destruction (more or less anyway). I realize that the "cute" factor may be debatable in Stitch's case, but, I found him extremely cute. In the Tenchi OVA series, before she was "reborn" Ryo-ohki, as the "diabolical" space pirate ship (albeit controlled somewhat by Ryoko who was being controlled by Kagato) destroyed several planets, as revealed by Mihoshi, before she realized that the cute, fluffly furball in front of her was the "fiendish" space ship her "watch" warned her of.

The movie is supposed to have been anime influenced, according to several reviews that I have read, and I think it shows. I also remember reading around the time of the Atlantis vs. Nadia debate, that Disney's next feature length animated movie would be undeniably anime influenced.

Regardless, this is definitely a movie that I want to buy on DVD when it comes out.

I saw this movie yesterday, and I took my 6 year old sister along with me. I have to say that this was a really good movie. Even though the end was kinda predictable, the adventure was great and funny nontheless. My sister and I kept laughing and laughing over and over. It had some very cute comedy reliefs, and was, overall, a great movie. I loved every second of it; it had something in it for everybody. :)

And also taking into account that Stitch has the brain of a supercomputer, so it's not unreasonable for him to pick up the stilted language he had at the end in a couple of days.

I'd like to think that his language would continue to improve in the video sequel/series, but think this won't be done either because of a) a lack of attention to detail, or b) his speech pattern at the end of the movie is "cuter".

did anyone not like the movie just asking I personally loved this movie

I think that this is very special

There are a lot of reasons for saying this, and it is a different Disney film, then the last few..Real types of people, with real problems, solved by people, and an alien that grow and mature in a special way..Stitch is loveable, but so are the other characters. and it was fun too...Yes, I do believe that this is a great film, I hope they do not ruin it with some sequel, but they will....Still, as I said in another place, Disney might not be in the full length animation business, if it were not for Pixar...and I thought that I would never say that...While the last few full length Disney's were ok, this is something special (Toy Story I and II excluded)...

A sequel was in production even before the movie was completely in the can (the creator, Chris Sanders, found it rather disconcerting that some other people were working on a sequel movie while he was still working on the original movie). I think I even read that they want a TV spinoff too. Of course, without the creator of the Stitch character in control, there's no telling what either the sequel or a possible TV series would be like.

There's already some weird fan sites happening. Somebody in the UK is turning Stitch (using silhouette only to avoid the wrath of Disney's lawyers) into some kind of modern hip-hop DJ character, at http://www.stitch626.com

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
