Well, if JLU had one standard, static opening, where they used the best clips from all 39 episodes while the music played and head shots of the Big 7 slideshowed across the screen, I would have liked it. But they could never make up their mind what clips to use! Just a pet peeve of mine, I guess.
Well, the original idea was to provide non-spoilerific shots from the episode itself, but that too challenging with to little time to do it in, so they went with one clip montage until this season, when they changed it again. If a new season had actually been made, the clips there would've changed again.

My prediction (or rather hope) regarding JLU: Season one and two will be together on one volume labeled The Complete First and Second Seasons and season three will be a smaller thirteen episode release. At least I HOPE so as season one and two ARE really just one season with a continuing storyline and are only "seperated" by airdate technicalities.

I want the complete second season of Batman Beyond at once too. I don't care, if my box sets aren't the same size the quicker they come out the happier I'll be.

I secretly hope that, if the show is called "JL Season 3", "JL Season 4", and "JL Season 5", that the DVDs use the original JL intro. I never liked the JLU intro, myself...
Dude, how can you hope that? You already HAVE that opening on DVD several times and you actually want them to take away my favorite DCAU opening ever and all of the cool variations on it for a blander version? I really hope no-one from WHV even CONSIDERS that idea as the new opening doesn't hurt anybody!;)

Yeah, that was the original reason I didn't like the JLU opening. And Fone Bone, I'll change my secret hope just for you... Now that all 39 episodes are done, I hope that Timm & Co. make one final, permanant opening for JLU, with their favorite clips from all 39 episodes chosen. This finalized opening could then be used on the DVDs for all of JLU's 39 episodes. :) (The music and posed shots of the Big 7 would not change, of course.)

But Fone Bone brings up a great point, in that all but 16 episodes of JLU have totally different and distinct episode intros. I think that's pretty cool, and something that none of the other series really offers (the title cards for BB that faded in as the intro music faded out was the closest thing). In a way, the intros to the first season even tell a bit of a story, since Shayera's head shot doesn't show up until her character returns, midway through the season.

Heck, I would even hope the creative team does just the opposite of what you're suggesting and creates new "episode-specific" openings for the 16 shows that share the same intro (I'm sure they have plenty of free time for fan service like that ;)).

One other thing to consider as far as 13, 26 or 39 episode sets go: 13 episode sets usually get two commentaries, while larger sets have been getting three. So more smaller sets could mean more commentaries (4 for two 13 episode volumes, instead of just three for one 26 episode volume).

Well, all one way, or all the other... I just want some sort of consistency with the JLU opening!

oh yeah, I kinda forgot that they did that, that would eliminate the option of using both openings, wouldn't it? X_X Darn. Oh well, just a thought in which I overlooked a big detail. In that case I hope they just go with JLU's original themes because we will be getting JL with the original JL sets, better to preserve both and leave things untampered with. Besides, as someone else above said, you could always take advantage of the scene skip feature if you don't want to see the opening.

I don't get what your guys' deal with the JLU intro is. Seems to me they should just come how the aired. Why would they need to be the same? If anything I think it would be interesting as fans to track the progress of how the JLU intro changed, based somewhat on fans (our) comments and concerns.

Being a cartoon maybe makes it a little different, but just about every TV series has a "continuing storyline" you can't call it one season based on your own personal preference, it's a fact that it was two seasons. The last few season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine are all deeply connected and a show like Lost is totally connected, still seperate have seasons. With an odd number, I expect to get three smaller sets.

Since the final season of Justice League will be on DVD in June, will Season 1 of Justice League Unlimited be part of the Classic Collection, or will it be part of the Kids Collection?
Warner Home Video considers Justice League and Justice League Unlimited as basically the same property, so you should be able to draw your own conclusions from there. Extras for Superman: The Animated Series - Volume Three and Justice League: Season Two should be announced shortly after Justice League: Season One and Batman Beyond: The Complete First Season hit shelves in March.

cool, that'd be interesting to hear what features we'll have! Thanks for the news Jim! ;)

yeah, I personally do highly prefer that they used the originally aired openings for each episode, I hate when things are tampered with without giving a way to see the original and untampered with thing. I hope they just do 3 season sets, and keep all the original openings. I'd really be disappointed in them if they did something strange to the openings rather than saving the original versions.

I dont get it!!

I guess NOBODY watches JL/JLU except people from these boards.

I mean it took this long to finally have the season sets for sale.

On March and June of 2006!! These shows has been out for years and JLU DVD sets still does not have a release date.

WHile other shows like Lost, Alias, Arrested Development, etc....after their season finale..their season's boxed sets are already for sale.

JL/JLU is definitely one of the smartest show out there.

And yet shows like The Batman and Teen Titans had their Season One DVD sets realeased first??

I just dont get it:confused:

Because they were releasing the other shows on DVD first. If they threw JL and JLU into the mix, then it'd flood the market.

You just mentioned all network shows. JLU is cable. And it has a much, much, much smaller audience than any of those shows.

Yeah, well that doesn't mean it'll sell.

Smaller seasons and less effort goes into the TB/TT releases. With the DC Classics we get featurettes and commentaries. With TB we got a 5 minute featurette and with TT we got some nice stuff, but no commentaries.

As much as we love the show, it's not a powerhouse seller like other shows on DVD. It sells amazingly well, yeah, but not like 24, Lost or Alias. Just be glad the season sets are coming and we don't have to worry about having a Gargoyles issue on our hands.

I'd say Bird Boy explained it pretty well. ;) And at least we can count on good old Warner Bros. to release the shows eventually. :D

Some news that is both wonderful and intriguing...

Fantastic! At this rate, we'll have the DCAU complete on DVD by this time next year!

Out of curiosity, where did you pull this quote from?

We will get to hear Dwayne McDuffie do commentaries!

So, by February 07 at the latest, JLU Series One should be on DVD. We know how flexible the Home Video releases are.

Shane Glines' message board.

I think we'll definitely see it out by the end of the year. WHV is going to have a December DCAU wave, as previously reported in this thread.

Cool.

It'd be a laugh to get Henry Rollins in to commentate on the Mad Stan eps of Batman Beyond as well. He's newsworthy at the moment.

I asked this in another thread as part of my questions. But, is their any chance or is Warner even considering releasing Gotham Girls on dvd?

At this point, nobody knows. They released Looney Tunes webisodes on DVD, but from what I understand, they sold at the rate cake covered in mold and feces sells.
