The New Scooby-Doo Movies Question

When The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972-74) hit local syndication in 1980, the 24 episodes (16 in the 1972-73 season, 8 in 1973-74) were all split into two parts to fit the half-hour weekly strip syndication method.

The closing credits on this early syndicated run were also edited in a way that would allow the 1979 Hanna-Barbera "Swirling Star" logo to play without abruptly interrupting the closing theme (which was very bad for most of the 1976-79 episodes of Scooby-Doo): what they did was to edit out Shaggy and Scooby's responses to "Hey, Scooby!" (as remarked by Fred, Velma and Daphne), which was "Where are you?!" and "Over here!" respectively.

One question: when USA Cartoon Express added Scooby-Doo to its lineup in 1990, on this show, which was now restored to its original hour-long length (and which was only broadcast Sunday mornings and only from 1990 to August 1992), did they keep the original "Zooming H-B" closing logo or did they use the same edited audio for the closing credits as the early syndicated run (lacking Shaggy and Scooby's responses to the "Hey, Scooby!" dialogue and also having the 1979 H-B "Swirling Star" logo)?

Then, when the series went to Turner's Cartoon Network, the full audio of the closing theme was restored (including Shag and Scoob's responses to "Hey, Scooby!"), and also included the original 1968 "Zooming H-B" closing logo on the 1972 episodes.

As memory serves, the "zooming" H-B logo, which was retired in 1974, was retained for broadcasts on USA and in syndication.

I think there's something else that should be worth knowing.

There's one part of the Season 2 opening sequence that doesn't look right.

You'll notice that in place of the part where Scoob faces a cowboy robot, the scene where the robot shoots and Scoob plugs his ears, Scoob runs off and tries to tell the gang what he saw. Definitely doesn't look right compared to the first opening to me.

That was mostly used in syndication, as memory serves.

Yeah. I remember they replaced the shot of the robot shooting the gun with a shot of Scooby plugging his ears in later prints of that one probably because they were concerned about the violence there.

And still another revised opening title was created for the DVD release and recent TV showings, for obvious reasons:

Al, you'll need to replace the video, as it's been taken down.
