Wow. That is...
Wow.
I'm thinking that's not the most positive of "wow's." And I must agree. Several things about that quote strike me as potentially ungood. To start with the obvious:
"She breaks into the Batcave with her homemade Robin suit all sewn up..."
Doesn't this just make her look like an immature idiot? She has to know Bruce isn't gonna let her run around in a costume made of sewn up sweater patches. And why would she want to? She should be smart enough to know that getting a costume from Bruce (or, Alfred, to be specific

) means getting a costume with KEVLAR and NOMEX weaved right in. The stuff that helps keep you alive. She should know this, as she's been around this stuff for a while now. There's no reason for that whole scene...it's overly cutesy and makes Steph look a bit stupid and immature.
Now, if she'd stolen one of Dick's old costumes, that'd be another matter entirely. It would show her as being determined, just like it did when Tim did it in Lonely Place of Dying. And really, it wasn't stealing, as Alfred let him do it.
"The whole idea of being a teenage sidekick is to look at how someone learns to be a hero. At least that's what's interesting to me."
Well, yes, that is very interesting, but the way he says it, it's like he's just getting rid of Tim so he can start the whole shebang over and do HIS version of how someone learns to be a hero. (And no one, IMHO, learns to be a hero...that sounds arrogant. People learn to be champions of justice and right...anyone who calls themselves a hero is way too egotistical by default) Why couldn't he have done this with Steph as Spoiler, which is arguably a better platform, as Spoiler is a unique identity that belongs only to her, and compared to the others she really has NO idea what she's doing. Why does he have to tear Tim, a well-developed character we all love, down? I would applaud someone devoting time to a mini-series or even a series to Spoiler herself, similar to Robin: a Hero Reborn. The tone would be totally different, because Steph is radically different than Tim, but the bottom line is he could a) show a knight in training b) show someone who really DOES need the training c) add much needed depth and attention to Steph's character. There's no reason Tim has to go for any of this to happen.
And as for the last thing, about Jack Drake finding out. One, this seems to confirm all those Jack-haters out there as being right. I'm getting very unpleasant images of how this is going to go down. I wouldn't be suprised if he tries to institutionalize Tim, as opposed to being calm and rational about it. We'll see how it goes, I guess.
