For two shows that premiered on the same day, it seemed like Invader Zim had much more of a greater fan base than Fairly OddParents in the early 2000's (in my opinion) based on older threads and posts I've seen here on ToonZone and I always wondered why. I was much more into Fairly OddParents growing up because it is a good and funny show. Not only that, but c'mon who didn't want fairy godparents that grants your every wish. Plus, the characters from Timmy and Cosmo all the way to Poof were something I enjoyed watching. By the time Sparky became apart of the show, I was starting to fall off of Fairly OddParents and began to watch it less, but all in all I would consider it being on my Top 10. Now, as for Invader Zim, I honestly don't have any memories watching Invader Zim on TV when it aired as much. I think the reason for this was because Invader Zim didn't get as much airtime as some of the other Nicktoons. I mean, with the fan base it had you would think it would have aired just as much as The Fairly OddParents did or if not more. Even if it was scheduled to show that day, there probably were times were they didn't air it.

When I got a chance to finally watch the series all the way through, I thought it was really funny as well and that it deserved a better treatment. The series really should've lasted longer and aired more than it did, but there were so much more Nicktoons like Spongebob running against it back then that I guess Nick decided not to show it a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there more planned for the show before it got canceled? Maybe someone could explain all about the Nickelodeon and Invader Zim situation that went on. Anyways, with all that being said I have a few things that I would like to discuss with you fellow TZ members and Nicktoons fans:

1. Which show did/do you find more interest in?

2. What do you think about the show(s) then vs now?

3. Why do you think Invader Zim got the fan base it did so quickly if it did happen that way? (and if anyone knows how the fan base for FOP was back in the early 2000's I would like to know that as well)

4. Do you guys think Invader Zim is an underrated show?

5. What were some of your favorite episodes and/or memories related to The Fairly OddParents and Invader Zim growing up?

Since this is a discussion thread for all, giving some of your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Also, if there's someone out there that actually remembers watching the premiere of the two shows or episodes from the early days (at least the first 8-9 months since its premiere); maybe even seeing a few promotions for the shows before it even aired, I would love to hear your stories on your experience with that.

It's kind of hard to compare the two, "Invader Zim" had a big fanbase among teens/adults, "Fairly OddParents" had a big fanbase with mostly kids with a smaller fanbase with adults/teens.

That is why Invader Zim was cut short, it wasn't doing well in the kids demographic.

And "Fairly OddParents" did well with the kid demographic, and frequently did well like "Spongebob", which is why it lasted so long, even when they cancelled it, they brought is back because its ratings were high.

I'd say of the two Fairly Oddparents is the one that appealed to me the most, as it was the only one of the two I watched I tried to watch Invader Zim back in the day but I wasn't very interested in it back in those days.

I will openly admit that FOP even in it's earlier seasons does feel very dated and most of the first season just feels very odd, I'm not sure why I think that but just watching some of those episodes today it just feels so different to today's standards.

For fanbases I'm not to sure what to say about either show I wasn't too familiar with their fanbases during those times other than the people I went to school with, in general they mostly talked about Spongebob over anything, but in later years I did hear a lot about how most weren't into Fairly Oddparents after 2008, since it was going through changes and it just didn't feel the same to most.

For Invader Zim I'm not to sure how is its fanbase it's an either or to be honest, I never knew too many people in my surroundings that was interested in the show it could have been obscured but around the internet I do think it does have recognition.

Some of my favorite episodes of Fairly Oddparents were in the earlier seasons, like the one with Timmy going into the internet to fetch his email, and the one where he wanted to be in an action movie setting, and the Channel Chasers movie was pretty cool too bad it didn't end there because I'd say that was a really good way the show should have ended too bad Nick just kept wanting more and more, wasn't all that bad for a while but after a few years it did have its effects.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
