Note: If you don't plan on buying these, then please refrain from posting. We appreciate and encourage discussion, but one line posts of "These are a waste of money, I'm not buying these," "it looks cool, but I can't get it till next week," etc, are unneeded. We'd like to see actual discussion and real comments from those who purchased these releases, or intend to, not insulting remarks.

Does anyone else remember a special that some of the Kids WB affils aired the week before STAS premiered? It was a behind the scenes preview of the series kind of deal-any chance it will ever make it to one of these sets? Was any dvd extra material farmed from it?

Mine is on order. Just curious as to why they jumped ahead and added some episodes? Were they original production orders?

It's done for ease of splitting up sets (18 x 3 = 54). That way we still get STAS alongside BTAS...

I picked the set up at Best Buy today. Nice packaging, though the security label began to tear the place it was put on so I just left it. Gonna dig into this set later tonight...

I bought this set at lunch today. Maybe I'll watch a few episodes here at work :D

I cant wait for the next set!

I don't ever think I've seen the Superman cartoon look this good. The first episode I watched was Speed Demons and it looked excellent. I'm sure it's probably the sametransfer as the single disc DVD that has Speed Demons on it, but this looked sharp. It's not perfect but this awesome cartoon has never looked better.

Bought this set along with Batman Vol. 2 at Best Buy today for $19.99 and so far so good. Only minor gripe I have is that the second disc is a flipper but I guess that is better than my original fear that they were going to compress the episodes on that disc more than usual to fit that many episodes on 1 disc. I've listened to the commentaries on Last Son of Krypton and Stolen Memories and they were entertaining. I'll be digging into both sets more throughout the week. I'm glad Superman has been given a set. For a while there I thought Superman would get the short end of the stick.

Went out and got it at Best Buy this afternoon for $19.99 and I have been very pleased so far. I watched LSOK and listened to the commentary on pt.1 , and the creative team offered some interesting insights. It had been awhile since I have watched LSOK, and I forgot how excellent it is, it holds up rather well more than 8 years later. I also viewed the "Learning To Fly" and "Building the Mythology" features and was impressed with the comments of the creative team, and how the show developed from what b.t. originally wanted to do. I'm not bothered by disc two being a flipper, the quality of what I have watched has been top notch. Will get around to viewing the rest of the episodes and commentaries in the next few days. I'll say right now it was 20 bucks well spent.
It's just great that Superman:TAS finally received multi-disk treatment after years of nothing, and then skimpy releases before this. I have been eagerly awaiting this set since it was announced in August. The BTAS sets don't really do anything for me, so it was nice to hear Superman would be receiving similar treatment.

Wow just got done watching some of these episodes again and I can't believe how good these episodes really are. Watch three of the commentaries, pretty good. Can't wait to watch the last one. The one problem with the set if the flipper disk but it doesn't matter, still very good. Talk about it more when I watch more of it.

...

Okay, watching "Last Son Of Krypton", I've got a question...

Where the heck IS Metropolis?

Lois- Smallville? Never heard of it.
Clark- Have you ever been to Kansas?
Lois- Ugh, God no...

It certainly is not located where a certain show on the WB says it is.;) It is likely somewhere on the East coast.

Great set of episodes, although the flipper is a litte bit of a turn-off. I just tell myself it's like my old LPs and Laserdiscs.

I don't quite understand the episode order, but they're all there and that's where it counts. The commentaries are interesting and I like how they aren't afraid to address problems as well as high points for the episodes, but I can never tell who is talking--and there had better be a commentary for Mxyzpixilated next set!!

I give it an A-, if only because I know it gets better.

I've never heard the show SOUND this good. On my copy of "Tools of the Trade" (a good quality recording but still only as good as Comcast lets it be :)), I always thought Darkseid's voice at the end was a little strange, and figured Michael Ironside just changed the way he did the voice as the series progressed. Now after watching this DVD, I was like, "oh! that's not extra bass in his voice, that's supposed to be reverb!" (since he's in his giant lair).

I always thought Metropolis was supposed to be in the Midwest someplace. Well, when it wasn't supposed to be Manhattan.

One of the liberties that Smallville has taken with the mythology that really bugs me -- the idea that you can climb a watertower in Smallville and see Metropolis on the horizon really takes away from the remote farm town idea.

The idea to make Metropolis in STAS look like the classic Fritz Lang Metropolis was really brilliant and immediately set apart the animated series from the Fleisher shorts as well as pretty much every other screen version of the Superman story.

I really need to pick up this DVD set.

I love this first Volume, but I can't wait till we get the volume with "Legacy" Part 1 and 2, "Apokolips now" part 1 and 2, "New kids in Town" "Absolute Power" "Where theres Smoke" "In brightest day" "Knight time" "Warrior queen" "Hand of Fate" "Late Mr.Kent". Those episodes have great animation and cool stories!

On a side note, I saw an interview with one of the Smallville producers and in that particular episode where they climb a watertower and see Metropolis (Nicodemus) was screwed up in post production. It was supposed to reveal Metropolis as barely in view from the top of that tower and not as close as it ended up looking. But I do agree that Metropolis should not be that close to Smallville anyway, but just think that Metropolis is farther then that shot reveals.

Metropolis in the comics is supposed to be in the east coast somewhere. Never really stated what state but it is supposed to be only about 100 or so miles from New York. Gotham is pretty close as well.

They should move one of them to the West Coast. Not much love for the west coast in comics

Well, I have held out on every single release because I was waiting on a set release. I'm SO glad I did! I only got to watch the first six or seven episodes of this when it aired, but I remember thinking it was consistently better than BTAS.

Picture quality, sound, and the menus are really great. I don't mind the flipper disc at all. (I like for things to take up less shelf space.) I'm even glad the episodes are out of order because I didn't want to wait for the next set to have a Justice League guest star appear.

GREAT JOB to everybody involved! I drained the first disc and all the extra features last night.

I bought this set yesterday and haven't had a shot to get to it yet, working through the BTAS season 2 first but I am exicted since I never saw STAS in it's orginal run.

I have always thought of Metropolis in New York, probably from the way it parallels NYC, and Gotham as Being in New Jersey. I say Gothams in New Jersey because in 'Jokers Wild' there seemed to be a thriving gambling industry and that is legal only in New Jersey and Nevada.

Just my opinion though...:D

Agreed. What volume will that be on?

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
