Wendle looks like a man totally unmoored by the loss of his son, ironic given that he had no time for him because of his job.

So I take it KB's cybernetic modifications were from her moms and partially so they could keep tabs on her?

Well, yeah, makes sense a totally cast off and isolated society would not be in any rush to go after the kids who just up and left and endanger said isolation.

Jod has mastered the "just casually act like a Jedi and people will believe it" act. I feel bad for Wim.

Neel practicing the "if I stand still, no one will see me."

I love Jod looking at Fern like "girl, you've matched me in my BS game and that both amuses and infuriates me."

I feel bad for that one droid helplessly trying to save its probably doomed prince. Also the poor B-1 Battle Droids who constantly get reactivated wondering if they won because, let's face it, Battle Droids rarely ever won.

Always leave a place looking worse than when you arrived! That's the pirate way!

For SM-33 the second "aye" is for emphasis! He's not buying what Jod is selling any more than Fern is (not that KB is far behind).

"Crimson Jack" "Captain Silvo" "Jod" - Dude has a lot of names. Guess it comes with being a pirate.

Ooh! Cute owl woman mentor! I love how the CG is so fine that it almost looks practical. And it was nice for the kids to have a supportive adult...for all of five minutes.

So this planet is so off the grid that they basically missed out on all the wars in the Galaxy? The kids had no idea what an X-Wing was. Do they have any real contact with the Republic? Explains the Old Republic credits.

So Jod is ostensibly working for them but because he's more experienced and the "adult" he ends up taking charge anyways.

Yeah, Jod seems more likely to be a con artist. But a lovable one. We'll see how this plays.

Cool lore about the Old Republic hiding several planets. Once they said "Great Works" - I already began to suss they were living in isolation. It was a term using the High Republic comics. What was an 'eternal treasure' worth hiding from the rest of the galaxy? Hmm.

Was it just me or did one of those droids purposely sound like Urkel as a homage since Jaleel White is in the cast?

Episode 4 "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin" - December 17, 2024
Our heroes face a surprise in a familiar setting.

Who programmed SM-33 with babysitter mode? He committed to it so, so much!

Jod mentioned knowing the smell of his home planet. Assuming he was actually conscripted into the Order, how old would he have been to still remember his old home planet? Or maybe he went back at some point after Order 66? Or he was never taken in by the Order and just lived a normal life on his home planet.

Okay, so the "At ____" were some kind of social experiment to create these isolated colonies loosely connected to the Republic, probably each with their own variant of a leader/supervisor, but their eventual fates are all wildly different. At Attin obviously became a rigid, structured, "utopia" but At Achrann descended into tribal warfare and basically destroyed the planet. And SM-33 and whoever his old captain was went through them all trying to find a place to stash the treasure?

No matter what planet they go to, Wim will still try to pretend to be a Jedi.

So SM-33 was DEFINITELY reprogrammed to not remember what At Attin is.

"Just shoot me anyway" - just the resigned delivery like he's just so done with everything at this point!

First it's Treasure Planet, then it's Goonies, and now it's child soldiers!

"There's smoke in my trunk!" - I feel like if Neel were human he would totally be the nerdy asthmatic type you used to see in these kinds of productions all the time.

Neel so based he's spitting up straight facts, doing good deeds, and is the first one to get a proper romance. And he even helped save the day!

Well no surprise the augmented girl is great with a blaster, though KB still defers to Fern when it comes to what they're supposed to do.

Ah yes, of course we use the "new blood" as the scouts instead of our normal people. Easier cannon fodder!

Did Jod straight up steal Wim's credits? Yes. Did it basically save them and help make temporary peace with the Hattan? Also yes! See, Jod's just doing his best!

Wim and Fern share a dangerous moment even as Fern is feeling the pressure...and her "bright idea" nearly gets them all killed because SM-33 can basically leave no witness to At Attin. Guess memory override was a bad idea here!

I'm assuming they'll have to visit the other "At ____" planets in the hope one of them will have intact coordinates to At Attin.

Jod basically being the "adult who really doesn't want to be there" but he did save the kids in the end.

Hmm. 33's previous captain got a lot more intriguing. Killed the whole crew to hide the location of At Attin for a treasure. Could it be this captain has been living among the people of At Attin bidding time until the treasure is discovered?

Who programmed SM-33 with babysitter mode? He committed to it so, so much!
Yeah, it was like he was purposefully mocking Jod. lol.

Jod mentioned knowing the smell of his home planet. Assuming he was actually conscripted into the Order, how old would he have been to still remember his old home planet? Or maybe he went back at some point after Order 66? Or he was never taken in by the Order and just lived a normal life on his home planet.
Or by the time he returned home, the planet was devastated by the war or completely mined of resources by the Empire.

Oh, yeah, that makes perfect sense to me. Though the question now is who's the jerk that came up with this social experiment? Architect from the Matrix-level of jerk?

Did Jod straight up steal Wim's credits? Yes. Did it basically save them and help make temporary peace with the Hattan? Also yes! See, Jod's just doing his best!
Yeah... but that means they're now broke right?

I'm assuming they'll have to visit the other "At ____" planets in the hope one of them will have intact coordinates to At Attin.
Pretty much. I down, 4 to go. And there's 4 episodes left. Hmm... ;)

Episode 5 "You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates" - December 24, 2024
A seemingly pleasant world will test our heroes like no other.

Meanwhile, at At Attan, the parents are trying to find their kids and if the Supervisor and their omnipresent Droids aren't going to help, they'll have to do it for themselves.

Good thing KB re-wired him to not kill them because their attempt to bind him was useless.

"Onyx Cinder" - Okay, that is a pretty killer ship name worthy of a legendary pirate ship.

Just that they threw in "his concubine betrayed him" just killed me. And Jod has enough sense to not tell the kids what a concubine is.

Jod is not prepared for these kids' emotional problems and doesn't want to be anywhere near it...but he still gives advice with his life ethos. Interestingly, he may not be a Jedi, but in his own way he practices non-attachment (not for any focus reasons but probably because he's been burned or burned others in the process and that's just how he is).

Fern is getting increasingly over side-quests and just wants to get home.

I'm still not ruling out he has some kind of magnetic gloves (though would that not have also been picked up like his weapon was)?

Don't you just hate it when your nostalgic pirate base where you were built gets turned into Space Hawaii?

You're not a proper Star Wars scoundrel until you just happen to run into someone you screwed over in the past (under a different name in fact) and who is more than ready to screw you back over. Pockit is pretty easy on the eyes though.

Jod the adult in the room scrambling to try and keep these kids organized and on-point in an increasingly dangerous situation (that is also kind of his fault).

How many employees have they lost to being eaten by a Hutt?

I love the kids just playing in their costumes and in their hotel room.

Ah, creepy fish-creature being. Can never have enough of those. Glad they subverted expectations and he was actually pretty nice.

"Jedi-1" "Jedi-1" Wim and Neel are just too precious.

I love how the security team thought they were protecting the "Wise Elders" but the moment KB revealed they're kids they shift to "well, then we have to arrest you too then!"

Never underestimate the wrench!

I just find it funny how those security guards turned into CG when they got slimed and sent into the bath.
The one time people are saved from a deathtrap because they're too short to get hit by it.

Dang, that one guard figured out a trap only to get shot by Jaleel White! I guess he was probably already dead before his body hit the spikes so that's a kind of mercy.

So would any currency have worked or just Old Republic credits?

Neel noticing the clue indicated by food was a little cliche for his character archetype, but okay.

Ah yes, off-screen acid bath killing who knows how many pirates!

Ah, I see. Because At Attin is some kind Old Republic isolated colony, they basically just print rare Old Republic credits in perpetuity...so the planet itself is literally a treasure.

Hmm...they deliberately tried to hide the legendary pirates' features. Didn't we just see a statue that lost its head too?

Well, I guess we're close to the midpoint so may as well just have Jod show his true colors and betray them, complete with bullying and threatening a little girl to get what he wants.

Wim finally steps up! Not with the lightsaber, he screwed that up, but he helped them escape! Of course now Jod has a lightsaber, so they'll have to contend with that.

LMAO, Wendle caught almost immediately.

So everyone's warnings came true and Jod betrayed them. The treasure turning out to be a mint really makes it an underworld/heist story now. Very intriguing. I still think this Captain Rennod is going to turn out to be The Supervisor.

It was pretty funny the scary sounding base got a resort built on top of it then Jod had to keep bribing the lady with more Old Republic credits. And the kids' Wise Elder disguises, lol. Or the Hutt eating the attendant. KB with the wrench cracked me up.

Ice cold of Jod to kill those pirates with the acid. Saved them but still. Woof. Way to go. Interesting he's the villain for the rest of the series seemingly, along with Brutus who will probably follow them to At Attin. Got a feeling KB recorded the coordinates on her visor and the kids manage to take off in one of the two pirate ships -- but would be foolish if Jod doesn't destroy both before he leaves.

One neat easter egg was the restraining bolt put on 33. I believe those were used on R2-D2 and C3PO in the original movie. Or when anyone heard "Dash", did anyone else think of Dash from Shadows of the Empire? lol. The laser booby trap sequence made me think of Temple of Doom.

Episode 6 "Zero Friends Again" - December 31, 2024
Relationships fray under the pressures of a difficult journey.

Glad Wim figured out the X-Wings are the good guys. Not that it helps them now.

I love Jod coming out all blinged out and immediately getting caught, losing his lightsaber, and poor SM-33 gets shutdown for the umpteenth time.

Honestly all would be forgiven if Pokkit kissed me.

“Last Plea” - proceeds to give impassioned speech of salvation and success for pirates while also basically making a pitch to be captain again.

The world is a sadder place without Trash Crabs.

Ah, the classic friendship conflict where one friend is the “boss” of the other and doesn’t take the other friends’ opinion or disabilities into account.

Neel taught Fern how to be adaptable and considerate of others!

Wim was a great friend this episode. Especially because he and KB have barely interacted but he did all he could for her and reassured her that she had him and Neel.

Find a girl who will fake her shut down just to better emphasize your heroism.

Aw, the kids said sorry and reinforced their friendships! Just in time to go at it fully alone as a team with the ship all theirs!

“It’s too invincible!” - That’s just such a kid thing to say.

Always press the button they say not to touch when all hope is lost!

Well, at least the New Republic is going after pirates...

It was a nice stranded-main cast at each other's throat but resolved by the end type of episode. Definitely a requirement for a coming of age series.

When Mama Trash Crab showed up, omg, I think I spotted pieces of the Millennium Falcon near her!

So now we got the kids and the pirates headed straight for At Attin. I don't see how the pirates are going to be defeated without bringing the Republic into it. Otherwise Jod would have Force choked all the pirates during his last plea. Though technically he'd just have to kill Brutus and resume being captain.

With an episode with hermit crabs, it was low key funny that Onyx Cinder shed it's hull to escape the shredder monster robot. :D

Sometimes they can be useful and not just rely on Mandalorians for everything :D!

Especially to cement the kids' friendship with each other :).

Assuming Jod can even Force choke someone. I think it's notable that all we've seen him do is lift objects. Not push, not Mind Trick, or anything else Force related. It could be he's out of practice, but...

I'm just imagining them adapting that into a Lego set .

Episode 7 "We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble - January 7, 2025
Our heroes have never felt further from home.

I only just realized how the parents are basically becoming a team like the kids, complete with KB's moms doing all the tech stuff. And just like the kids, it feels like the world (or more like their Droid-run planet) is out to get in the way of them getting what they want.

You can tell Nooma is Neel's mom because she has zero hesitation to act and is obviously based.

I'm honestly surprised they even bothered to reactivate SM-33.

The kids are finally free of Jod and are finally friends and can have fun on the way home...only now Wim is the debbie downer because he didn't want the adventure to end. But now everybody is actually happy he dragged them into this.

It's funny how the kids once again save Jod's life only for him to then try and screw them over...and then they basically give him the perfect opportunity to kill Brutus and retake command. I almost felt bad for Brutus.

Silvo must really like his mask if he immediately puts it back on when he's captain again.

It's nice to see the parents expressing their love for their children and trying to do what they can to help get the kids through. Also, Neel's dad, who I almost forgot about because his wife had been way more active. He looks like the kind of gruff, but loving, dad you see in these types of settings.

I kind of wonder how much of the "truth" the parents know but I guess there's some kind of information given about what the planet's situation is once you join the workforce.

Classic Wim immediately charging in with no plan but honestly he got farther than I expected.

"I'm afraid it doesn't work like that" - but enough for SM-33's taste so he can give Silvo a much-deserved sock to the face. He may be running on what he was programmed to do, but it's clear now that he really wanted to help the kids and didn't care for Silvo one bit. His true Captain is Fern.

No, not SM-33! Hate it when a lightsaber harms a good droid.

Wow, I thought it was just an atmospheric layer but it was like a giant planet-sized sphere barrier protecting a smaller sized planet inside.

Jod has no need to humor the kids any more and with everything else gone wrong he finally lets loose the venom and what he really thinks about them. He didn't need to do poor Wim like that.

It's kind of surreal and horrifying to see a lightsaber, a symbol of honor, integrity, and peacekeeping, used as a blunt instrument to threaten children.

Here is the supervisor's automatic announcement that I'm sure is meant to be played whenever one of their mint ships comes back (which probably hasn't happened since Rennod crashed).

No surprise the most moving thing for a consummate criminal is the biggest payday of his life.

It's great the families are all together even if they're now all being threatened by Silvo. Though honestly I don't think he's going to collect on his promise to eviscerate the parents.

Well that takes care of the secondary big bad. Murder lightning satellites keep the pirates away. So it's down to Jod vs. the kids.

Ok, the reveal of how At Attin says hidden and the reveal of the Mint was worth the 7 weeks of episodes. Well done.

So rewarding when Jod got socked by SM-33 on a technicality that Fern exploited but then from a high to a low when 33 gets decapitated by lightsaber.

So if the Supervisor is really Rennod, he'll know this Republic Emissary that came is likely a fake and order those droids to neutralize him?

But really the only way for the kids to get a win is to blow up Onyx Cinder and strand Jod there. Or somehow patch into those defense systems so they recognize the Onyx is an enemy vessel so when Jod flies back up there...

Don't jinx us Yojimbo, we can't keep destroying cool and marketable ships :p.

I have a question for anyone else that has Disney Plus with commercials:

Does it feel like the commercial interruption is worse than a year or two ago? I find the pacing (where they insert the commercials) to be much worse nowadays. It didn't feel this bad when Andor was airing. And if it was this bad when "The Acolyte" was new, then I didn't care, because while I did watch it, the Acolyte sucked.

But this....I'm actually enjoying "Skeleton Crew" and the number of commercials (and where they insert them) is painful. There's 4 or 5 commercial breaks....in a 25 minutes episode. Each commercial break is 90 seconds long. The last commercial break was 2 minutes before the end of the episode, I was like "why did we need a commercial break only to come back to 2 minutes of episode content?"

Maybe if the episode was 45 to 1 hour in length, the 4 or 5 commercial interruptions wouldn't be so egregious. But for a 25 minute episode, it's ridiculous.
