Stellar my foot.Speedy Boris said:...stellar "Empire of Dreams"...
Since it's apparently the 97 SE versions...no he wouldn't.sdp said:han would shoot first in this version.
Way to double-post. And I disagree- this was still the best documentary on Star Wars I've seen (though truthfully much of the emphasis was on Lucas himself, which was fine). ANY documentary that keeps my interest for over 2 1/2 hours is stellar in my book.Lord Dalek said:Stellar my foot.

I think this is just the fan attitude, not the general public attitude. The General public loves the new stuff. I remember back in 97 when the original "special editions" were released, most of what I heard from friends and family was people complaining that the films weren't different enough, and they were expecting even more new special effects and scenes.Silly McGooses said:Wow, that is beyond stupid, since the only reason he'd have to say he doesn't want to re-release them is because countless people are asking to see the original versions.
I haven't gotten the series yet, maybe I'll pick this up...
Get back to me when you've read The Annotated Screenplays.Speedy Boris said:Way to double-post. Well...apparently you didn't read the PR that was in the first post in this thread...sdp said:i doubt its the 97 version...
If they're simply the 97 SE version, Greedo will shoot first. If they're the newest revisions like the set they released last year, they'll shoot at the same time.September 28, 2005 - On December 6, 2005, Fox Home Entertainment will release the original Star Wars Trilogy on DVD in a new limited edition three-disc set. The collection, which arrives in stores a little over a month after the release of Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge of the Sith, will feature new artwork, modest bonus features and a handful of Easter Eggs on each disc. The versions included in this set are from the 1997 re-release, although no information is yet available about whether the films will feature the revisions made at that time, or simply contain the same (additional) revisions and changes made for the 2004 release of the trilogy on DVD. The set will be packaged in a cardboard slipcase, display the formatting of the films - either widescreen of full-frame - and retail for the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of $49.99.
I did read the first post but apparently i read it wrong...i wonder if they made a mistake...Discloner said:Well...apparently you didn't read the PR that was in the first post in this thread...

Not that it really matters to me. The whole argument over who shoots first is just silly in my opinon.
No they're the same discs from the previous boxset minus the fourth disc and IMO a much, much nicer box. The HTF is calling it the big ripoff of the year.Conekiller said:So these are the Special Editions(han shoots second, no ewoks song, Beaked Sarlaac) without Ian McDiarmit in Empire and Hayden Christiansen in Jedi?
According to "Making Magic", the Behind the Scenes of the SE disc on Lucasarts Archives II, the original version made Han look a lot dirtier than he is.sdp said:this is a really dumb decision, why did they do this?
I know he has not interest in releasing them, but he also knows they would sell. I'm just waiting for his greed to surpass his messed up version of 'artistic integrity' enough that he'll release them. His official argument as far as I've heard is that the S.E. versions are the way he would have made them if he'd been able to at the time, and the versions we loved in the 80's were incomplete travesties, not worthy of digital acknowledgement.Ishtar318 said:George Lucas has said that he has no interest in releasing the original version of the trilogy unfortunatley. He does not think they would sell.
Perhaps the argument is silly, but Han shooting first was an important character development plot point. At this point I'd say it's really moot, since everyone knows he's a good guy, and he never does anything rogueish again besides whining about money and threatening to leave so that he can come back 'in the nick of time' later...Discloner said:Not that it really matters to me.
