Slayers 4 The Revolution - Slayers REVOLUTION Talkback (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I'm still not sold on that digimon-like creature.
Well at least it seems more like a foil than a cute sidekick.

Well, until next week at least.

The over-the-top fish woman I could do without, I've never been a fan of the fish creatures. But I think the pacing and lovely, vidid coloring present everywhere made up for it.

What? You didn't like the time the fish-man Noonsa got fried and Digear's beast-men disposed of the remains? ;) I still chuckle just thinking about that moment. :anime:

Didn't say they weren't funny, just that I don't like 'em ;) Noonsa was pretty amusing. "Miss Mermaid" certainly won't make it to my top ten, though.

I agree there. The way "Miss Mermaid" was shown in Dragon Magazine (I believe it was Dragon Magazine), it seems that she will show up a few times and that could be a bad thing. It depends on how she's used.

Episode 2 just aired.

Lina gets into a spell battle with that Pocota Digimon ripoff.

Pocota's zipper isn't just for show, it unzips it and pulls out... a Sword of Light?

Yeah, that really shocked me for a second - it's just a replica, though. And Pokota made it? Very strange!

I love the part where we see Zel in some kind of knighthood ceremony in Seiruun. I don't know if he is one, but what else could it be?

Slayers Revolution so far is turning out to be... the Slayers. :D

Ep. 2 comment:
Hmm... who wants to bet Pokota turns out to be one of the five wisemen turned into that form by whoever's manipulating that kingdom?

I'm not sold on this Digimon-clone Pokota. As I made mention in my blog, I wasn't too happy that he survived the amplified Dragon Slave.

Now, is it my imagination, or did Digimon-P emerge from within the rock after Lina cast the Dragon Slave spell?

Beyond that, the first two episode of Revolution have been fun for me. Lina threatening to turn kingdoms to ash and go on a rampage -- pure win! :D

Episode 3 is a bit of a comedown episode for me. No Digimon, but Wiser is annoying as ever. Still, there was some good here but it seemed more like a filler episode as it didn't appear to have anything to do with plot (what little has been established to date).

I agree, definite filler episode. The weakest of the three so far, but I still enjoyed watching Lina beat the crap out of Wiser and the twist at the end with the jellyfish. I should have seen that coming. The next episode also looks a bit filler-ish, or at least more on the comedy side. I don't think we should expect the main plot to come in until episode 5.

I have been reading a bit though and without giving away anything (because I'm not reading any real spoilers), Wiser is a character in the novels (volume 10 for sure). Hearing that makes me wonder if there is a bit more plot table setting in episode 3 than first appears.

Watching this was like getting a visit from an old friend, it had the atmosphere, the music, the humor and better yet the original voice cast. I could tell that was Lina's voice from the get go, and that's saying alot considering I'm not too good with singleing out a particular seiyu.
Highlights:

Eps.1
Pirates are the new bandits:D
Gourry the blacksmith
(Looks like he lost the shooting star sword he got from that elderly Knight Red back in Try)
Lina's reputation has gotten even more infamous it seems:D :D
Can one acuatually be arrested for being one's self?
Mage Tank Z-1: All the powers of a tank but all the weaknesses of a turtle
Looks like some stole Lina's thunder

Eps.2
Apparently Lina is now seen as a WoMD by the other kingdoms of the world
Have to agree with Zel, Amelia, & Gourry on where the evidence leads:D
Cool Prince Phil
Inspector Weisser the Zannigata to Lina's Lupin
The rabbit-dude's got a point, if Lina didn't do stuff like that on a regular basis she wouldn't be the first one suspected.
Awsome mage fight
I don't think I've ever seen Lina that MAD
--Boobless Queen of the Boobless Kingdom--:D :D
Poketa- what/who is this guy, he can cast Dragon Slave, create a working replica of the Sword of Light, and has made mage tanks...interesting

Looking forward to seeing what other mayhem Lina and the gang wind up causing. Slayers is indeed Back!!:raven:

Episode 4 was a funnier one for me. No Wiser (a good thing) but there was Digimon (Pokota). However, Lina's hunting for Pokota had me laughing. ^_^

Agreed, in regards to Episode 4 being better than Episode 3. It was also quite nice to see that obsessive side of Zel again.

On that note, thank goodness we may be getting substantial plot development next episode.

So does this serie disregards TRY or not? (Careful, spoilers for the older series...)

I mean if it does then the Lord of Nightmare accepted Gourry's Sword of Light in exchange for Lina at the end of NEXT.

If it doesn't then the Sword of Light is back in the Black Universe where it belongs and Gourry should still have the Peaceman Shooting Star Sword which seemed to fit him just fine in TRY.

On the other hand, Lina's FOUR talisman still work... but they shouldn't if TRY happened. The Talisman call upon the power of the Four Dark Lords, if TRY happened Dark Star would be gone and thus one of the Talisman (or all of them) would stop functioning without its power source. Basically for the same reason no one can cast a Gaav Flare anymore.

All will reveal itself in due time. Just be patient. ^^; Remember I do believe
Xellos gave Gourry his sword back at the end of Slayers NEXT. And despite TRY shifting the Slayers world in a new direction, we don't actually know the aftereffects just quite yet from it.

Pretty sure they're not ignoring TRY. That was just our crazy pre-show rambling speculations.

And about Dark Star: it's confusing, but I did rewatch Try a few weeks ago and I remember them saying they only "cut him in half." If you watch, you'll see the rest of his body was still in the tube thing. So they only defeated half of him, apparently the half that had Valgaav.

Ep. 4:
Very hilarious episode. This is the first time in Revolution that I've actually appreciated Amelia's and Zelgadis' presence, and I think that largely has to do with them going back to their "old personalities"... like Amelia's obsession with justice, and Zelgadis doing whatever it takes to get his body back.

The scene where Amelia coddles and heals Pokota was so freaking adorable I had to "awwww." :D

Really looking forward to the next episode!

Yes, in NEXT Xellos actually bargained to get the Sword of Light back. Lots of red tapes and paperworks apparantly XD

The thing is that Try is basically a huge filler season not in line with the novel canon where at the end of the NEXT storyline Gourry DOESN'T get his sword back. That bit was added to make it possible to write another season...hopefully they won't disregard it and we get a cameo from Fillia, Jillas and maybe a young Val!

Yeah they did cut Dark Star in half, but the other half broke through the barrier and linked up with the first one. Darkstar (and Volpheid too for that matter) where blowed up for good by the Chaos Spell Lina improvised.

Poor Canal...

Huh. You're right, the portal did break and the rest of him started to pour out. How much passed through is a bit unclear. But I'm stumped.

Okay, crackpot theory time. Since Dark Star and Vorfeed merged with Valgaav and Valgaav was reborn, maybe Lina's drawing power from him?...

I referred to this in my blog; I like the fact that the series is using more spells. Yeah, I have to look them up to see exactly how they rank and their effects but it is still cool.

I'd hoped to see Gourry and Lina attempting to find Gourry a new sword but I get the feeling the writers are just going to have Digimon-Pokota create a new one.

Yeah, this series (at least according to the rumors) seems to be half anime-only material and half novel based so it's like a mixture of the first two TV series and TRYs storytelling. But it's too early to tell which direction it's going to go. Even the first 3 or 4 episodes in the previous two seasons kind of frelled around before the plot got going.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
