It matters not.
They came, they went to NEXT, and TRIED again, and now... 11 years after that attempt, they intend to start a REVOLUTION.

Slayers returns! Now have at it!

Do you have to have seen the first 3 seasons to understand any of this? All I know is Lina = small breasted sorceress with a bad temper

Once upon a time, I saw some of Try on VHS before seeing anything else, and I enjoyed it. You should be fine.

 Awsome!!!:D
Though what's with the evil looking rabbit?

I recently got into Slayers and I have to say that Revolution looks pretty good.

Finally got a chance to watch the first episode of Slayers Revolution.

Without going into much detail, I must say that Slayers still seems to be in its usual top form. Even after the 11 years or so since TRY ended, the characters are still themselves after all these years. Yeah, maybe there's nothing that deep about them, but still it's wonderful to still see that your old friends haven't changed much. The same applies to the voice cast, with Megumi still being her shrill, over-the-top self for the shrill over-the-top Lina Inverse with everybody else playing their character to a T.

Still, this episode serves as a fine reintroduction to the cast without having to endure at the current moment some overarching quest that I believe plagued TRY. The animation is vibrant, the characters are still themselves, and humour is the usual Slayers fare, which is always fun in and of itself. Despite that there are some nice twists to the episode, including who's after Lina, and of course having the Dragon Slave cast by somebody who isn't Lina, which may speak well of the series if developed properly.

Good to see Slayers back for another go.

This is my first Slayers series...ever. So I am very impressed that since I didn't know anything about the characters (not even their names) I'm glad that this show did not alienate me and it gave me a good idea of their personalities. One day I'll catch up on the other series (when I have enough money anyway)

On another hand, why does everyone hate Slayers Try? It got some bad press around here. Why is that?

As usual a great opening theme from Megumi. Was the maid in the opening Luna Perhaps? If so I hope this is'nt anouther tease like Trys opening and she's actually in the show this time.

The opening is awesome and seeing a brief glimpse of Zuuma as well as Xellos' true form is sheer fangasm stuff. The maid in the opening is most likely not Luna, as I believe Luna is never actually fully revealed even in the manga/novels.

Wow, every character still have punch after all this years.
Best gag for me: Gaudi broking and fixing his sword in every fight. :D

Not everyone hates Slayers TRY. Still, as I've said elsewhere, Try had a good premise, but failed in execution and become somewhat more kiddie in nature. I liked Try best the first time I saw it. Each time I've re-watched it, I've liked it less.

Fortunately, Slayers REVOLUTION is doing what I'd hoped, and have gone back to what worked in Slayers (at least as far as this first episode goes). I loved Lina going nuts. I loved the gag with Gourry having to reforge the sword. I thought the writers did a good job of appealing to classic fans like myself while bringing in new ones.

My blog about the first episode will appear after midnight mountain time for those bored. ;)

Watching the first episode was like putting on a pair of comfortable old shoes. These are still the same cast of characters I fell it love with so long ago. Only difference was the bright and colorful animation but, thats only because of the age gap. Welcome back slayers I can't wait to see what adventures await you all.

What I also found interesting was them using some of the older BGM that was present in the last three Slayers series. It seems rather archaic to use such old BGMs, but it shows that it still exists within that universe and has that same atmosphere.

I'm sure the old music was done for continuity's sake. I hadn't even noticed myself, but I think it works.

Oh yeah, "Plenty of Grit" in my opinion just completely blows away any of the other Slayers openings out of the water.

Not a bad first episode...my favorite part was the special anti-mage turtle tank.

"It comes with a turtle's mobility and heavy armor along with great weapons! An invincible mobile weapon!"
"A turtle's mobility? In that case, let's keep running!"
"Crap. They figured out it's weakness!"

Not looking forward to this little animal thing, but at least Xellos is in this too.

Yeah, I'm still not sold on that digimon-like creature.

Overall it was just like old times. Like seeing old friends again who haven't really changed. I was grinning like a maniac through the whole episode!

The over-the-top fish woman I could do without, I've never been a fan of the fish creatures. But I think the pacing and lovely, vidid coloring present everywhere made up for it.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
