It's worth mentioning that beginning in the Season 28 production cycle, domestic production is moved from Film Roman to FOX Television Animation. Perhaps Waterman buying Film Roman had something to do with it, or because of how "Family Guy" and "American Dad" were already being produced at FOX Television Animation and so the switch would be easier on the show's budget.

In all of this, I am surprised Digital eMation hasn't started animating on "The Simpsons" yet. They did a really good job in the "Family Guy" episode "Simpsons Guy," and they really got the style down, and only a few actual Simpsons artists were involved!

I also heard from somewhere a while back that Rough Draft actually assisted Digital eMation on the Family Guy "Simpsons Guy" crossover, providing the Simpsons characters' animation, but they were uncredited. This would make sense, and that contractual reasons were why only Digital eMation got credit with the overseas animation services. Now if only we had more proof...

Another update; I'm sure some of you may have noticed that "Bart Sells His Soul"'s animation seemed kind of "off," especially when compared to other episodes Rough Draft worked on at the time. Well, it turns out, Rough Draft didn't actually animate this episode! They subcontracted it to Yeson Animation Studios, also in South Korea. (A friend of mine who's an animation enthusiast had actually asked someone from Yeson about this, and they indeed confirmed it.) Back then, Yeson was a subcontracter for Rough Draft when their workload was too full. Yeson would also go on to work on such shows as "Ed, Edd n' Eddy," "The Fairly Oddparents," "Family Guy," "King of the Hill," "Bob's Burgers" and several others. (Yeson also did ink-and-paint/camera work for several Season 4-5 "Ren & Stimpy" episodes, and they also did a fantastic job on "Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling".)
But even with its faults, Yeson did a pretty decent job on this episode, as the animation is still a big step up from what AKOM and Anivision were usually churning out for the show at that time. (An exception is Bart waking up screaming after his soulless nightmare, as that was recycled Klasky-Csupo animation from "Treehouse of Horror II.")

Not that I don't believe your friend, but who at Yeson did they talk to? Was it somebody that worked on the episode? If so, do they know their name? Reason I ask is, that would be worth adding to imdb. (Though personally, I never thought the episode looked drastically different from the usual Rough Draft fare...)

Anyway, goes without saying this guide is woefully out of date and I don't really have the motivation to catch up. If somebody else wants to take the reins, let me know. Unfortunately you won't be able to edit the topic if you're not a mod, so it would involve whoever volunteers re-creating the thread from scratch and updating it themselves.
