"Scooby-Doo - Mystery, Inc." News & Discussion Thread

Well, that's good news. At least we'll get to see something new that's Scooby related. Maybe they'll show ads for new eps of 'Mystery, Inc.' during that show and we'll finally get some news on that. I guess you can't blame me for hoping anyway. Lol.

*sigh* Lets hope so.

Its getting ridiculous that we dont know when the show will coming back or why its on this big of a hiatus unless they plan on bringing it back in the next 3 months without reruns and just finish the season.

The hiatus is bizarre, but I'm guessing it's just a case of CN wanting to wait until their schedule is less crowded, to guarantee the show pulls in those big numbers (I guess it's their new flagship series, in terms of marketing).

Not that its current ratings are poor. 2+ million average is bloody impressive, and puts the series on par with Nick's Power Rangers, which has a huge promo budget.

Anyways, there are at least 38 never-before-seen episodes to look forward too.

Yeah that came out a while ago.

Nobody mentioned it! What's weird is that some of the comments about it were written about a month ago! Who got to see this on CN when no one in the US did?

*shrug* No clue. Strange episode though.

It's possible that the 2 seasons of 26 episodes each will be shown more like 4 seasons of 13 episodes each. Thus providing fresh Scooby TV product for the next 3 years. Not an idea I'm happy with, particularly when you have a mystery playing out over a 26 episode arc.

Another, more likable possibility is that the season will be broken into two segments, somewhat like "Burn Notice" on USA, which shows half the episodes in the winter, then the other half in the summer.

That's sort of what I've been thinking from the beginning. It does seem like most weekly animated series' have 13 episodes rather than 26. So I could see this show having four seasons. It's possible that they'll reair the show back in July when it premiered last year as a second season. Then what they have planned for the 'second' season will actually be seasons three and four. It's a good way of looking at it, but I'm not holding my breath. You really can't believe anything you hear these days. *sigh*

I have to disagree. From what I heard there are 26 episodes in the first season. Not 4 separate seasons with 13 episodes, its only been renewed for 2 seasons all together.

Edit: Looks like wikipedia is jumping the gun.
New episodes were announced to begin on January 31, 2011 but did not air due to problems between the producers and the network over contracts (Though it was available to watch on iTunes). The show has been put on a delay until further notice and reruns will continue to air until the problem is resolved between Cartoon Network and the producers of the show. It has been going on since October, and it may be a while before new episodes continue airing. Possibly even facing cancellation.
Sure it is wikipedia, they would totally cancel a highly watched show and a show that got them a nomination for kid's choice awards (sarcasm). Remember people wikipedia is not very reliable so don't panic.

LOL i still laugh when people jump to conclusions, especially that they already know wiki is not reliable........just wait for an official word from the guys behind the show and CN.

They said at the Comic Con panel last year{which you can see on Youtube} that the first season was 26 episodes. It would be a bit ridiculous change that now. Not to mention the season pass on itunes and what not is the normal price for a 26 episode season of a animated show.

The seasons are 26 episodes I presume but that doesn't mean they wont split them up in batches as they already have. The first half of season 1 didn't air in one batch after all.

:):anime::D;)"It's only been renewed for two seasons."

Anyway, I'm sorry to be a negative Nelly, but I can't bring myself to believe that it hasn't been cancelled. Some animated series' do have episodes planned but end up being cancelled before their aired. "Little Muppet Monsters" is one example I can think of that had that fate. I hope no one gets mad at me for this, but I think in this case I may have to side with whoever it was that edited Wikipedia at least until we get some official word on what's going on. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe they're waiting to see how well they do on the DVD sales. After all, that's what brought "Family Guy" back on the air. I don't know. Just something to think about.

Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. got impressive ratings in premieres. I really don't think they cancelled it. Production hiatus happen for one reason or another. No need to jump to conclusions.

I think that there is absolutely no chance that the 26 episodes of Season 1 will not be completed. In fact, I would guess that the remaining 13 episodes are already done. (We already know that episode 14 is done.)

The lead time for animation of this type is huge. (Don't confuse this with South Park, which is just thrown together by a much more limited process.) If Warner Animation was going to wait to see what the reception of the first half (13) episodes was going to be before spending any money on the second half, we won't have the next set until 2012.

And there is no reason not to do Season 1 as a complete set. Scooby-Doo isn't a new concept looking for an audience, it has a world wide, loyal audience. Mystery Inc. will be seen on TV (and sold on DVDs) in numerous languages around the world... For many, many years to come. Not completing a story arc would damage the money making capacity of the episodes that have already been shown.

If I had to bet, I would say that the production team already has a good start on Season 2. Scripts take more time when you are plotting a 26 episode arc. And then there is lining up the voice talent, and doing the recording... and coordinating with the Korean animation company. And the translation and recording in other languages... and any post-production...

None of this precludes the possibility that there could be some difficulties between Cartoon Network and Warner Animation. But even that would be an inter-family argument, since they are both owned by Time/Warner, and any disagreements can be fixed by an Executive Decision.

Oh the episodes for season 1 are finished, they are just not airing them on tv yet. :)
If I remember correctly it took 6 months for an Avatar the last airbender episode to be completed. Since Mystery Inc is about the same run time I'm guessing it takes the same amount of time to finish an episode. The series was most likely in production for a few years before it premiered in 2010, so I deduce that the episodes for this season are finished and they are currently working on season 2 right now. *smokes pipe*

In short they will come out but the real question is if they do go out on Tv when? If not on Tv, then when will we get them on DVD?
Scooby doo vol 1 was episodes 1-4 (released Jan 25th)
Scooby doo vol 2 will be episodes 5-8 (being released May 10th)
If they follow the same pattern it will go:
Vol 3 9-12
Vol 4 13-16

And I put way too much thought into this.:p

Well, thanks for the positive comments, that lifted my spirits a bit.

Well, I'm not much of a 'South Park' fan. In fact, I take offense at the 'killed Kenny' concept. But that is a good way of looking at it. I just wonder if they would have gotten better sales if they had released a 13 episode box set. Rather than just four eps per DVD. Of course, I shouldn't be one to talk. I got the complete series of "What's New Scooby Doo" and most "Pup Named Scooby Doo" eps through the four episode sets and I'm pretty content. It just seems like most other people spring for season sets or things like that.

Well, six months from October is April so if your prediction is correct, it's possible that the show may be back on in a month. But if that's the case, then you'd think we'd see it advertised and everything like we do with the Looney Tunes show. Just some things to think about.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
