Wait, wait lets not jump the gun just yet. Why in the world would Saban go to New Zealand? I will say that it's false.

For one thing, costs are much cheaper over there compared to back here. Second, the New Zealand nature scenes are far superior than the ones in smoggy Los Angeles; personally I believe it's one of the positive things Disney did to the series.

Saban has done things overseas before, "Mystic Nights of Tir Na Nog"?

[ RED RANGER - REESE ]
Caucasian male, 18 - 23 to play 17-19 years. Reese is an attractive young man with super hero looks and a slim athletic build, approx 5'10". Natural leader, reserved quiet and mysterious.
Martial arts a plus.

Am I the only one who went :/ at the Caucasian part while all the other roles are open to any ethnicity?

Edit: But I am intrigued about Kaoru's Megan counterpart being listed. Does this mean she would be the mentor throughout the entire season.

I am also curious if they're going to follow the basic plot of the sentai or are just using the personalities as a template and going shoot in a completely different direction.

And you would be wrong.

Oh yeah, I see Gold and Green. We're goin' Shinkenger.

Sorry if this has been covered. I only read the first page. Power Rangers is not a cartoon. It had no place on Toon Disney, and should never air on nicktoons. I still believe live action has no place on cartoonnetwork, but they started a few years back then changed their name to CN to get away with it. Disney was all like "jetix is a program block that can air whatever and not be restricted to animation" even though that's what made Disney. But now that there's no TD it's not so much a big deal.

Nicktoons calls itself the animation capital, and they can after TD and CN aired fewer and fewer cartoons, but if they are going to pull this crap too Im dropping them.

I mean, yeah, this is great news for PR fans. What disney has done to the first season, and then claiming it as new is appauling! But PR belongs on the first kids network and NOT the animation capital, that's all.

i understand where your passion is coming from....

I believe this is his view:

First Kids Network = Nickelodeon

Animation Capital = Nicktoons Network

Power Rangers = Nickelodeon

Power Rangers ≠ Nicktoons Network

ah...i see.

but i've noticed that Nickelodeon is just focusing on the tween kiddies
nowadays.

you try and tell me an action based series on Nick since avatar/D.Phantom ended?

nothing.

but PR is going to be airing on both nick, and nicktoons. so appearently
everyone wins.

No union to deal with on the acting side or the crew side, so less production expenses. Probably still have the equipment to work with since RPM only ended a year ago.

If it saves money, then why wouldn't they film in New Zealand?

Plus, PRPVFX has been doing many of the visual effects for the New Zealand run of PR. Also, going back to NZ means that Neil Cervin, who was a director of photography on RPM, could be brought back as well.

Oh snap, they're actually going through with an adaption of Shinkenger? Bit disappointed that they're looking strictly for a white guy to play the red ranger, I would've left him as an asian if they're keeping the "samurai clan" thing (they probably will...this sounds like the closest to a straight-forward adaption of a sentai season we've gotten since Wild Force).

I'm just gonna use the same card I used when people complained about Toon Disney airing Power Rangers: Super Sentai (and Power Rangers by extention) has always, for the most part, been basically a live-action cartoon.

Sure, maybe it doesn't necessarily fit with the channel's image, but it's one of the better choices if they had to choose any live-action series.

Surprised they're not just skipping Shinkenger. That means for the first time, we'll be two seasons behind instead of just one.

If they film in New Zealand, does that mean they won't get any of the union actors from previous Saban seasons (I mean if they ever wanted to) and just stick to the NZ actors?

Thankfully they're going to tackle Shinkenger first. It's a wiser decision to adapt a completed season instead of one that's still airing.

Still in New Zealand huh? I was kinda hoping a return to Los Angeles but I guess the scenery there is much better suited to the action scenes than the back alleys and lots of LA. Hopefully, Saban can manage to find other locales to film at aside from that plaza we saw every single Disney season.

Those role descriptions remind me too much of Mystic Force, but I don't want to be pessimistic already. I'll wait until the first promo at least.

That, and Saban tries to save as much money as he possibly can.

This kind of puzzles me, honestly. If they're going to keep the samurai theme, then it would make more sense to actually have the Red Ranger be Japanese. They could easily fudge the other guys. Have them be people he recruited after coming to America to fight the bad guys or whatever. But, if it's still going to be a samurai thing, it makes more sense for the Red Ranger to be Asian.

I wonder if they'll be changing the theme in some way.

Might you have had the same problem with the Red Wind Ranger not being of Japanese descent?

I realize the Red Ranger has often been a white guy but making it a requirement seems rather odd especially when it's a Samurai theme and if they had found an asian Red Ranger it would have been a good fit.

Ninja Storm didn't lose it's ninja focus despite having 3 ranges who were not asian so there's no reason to assume a Shinkenger adaptation couldn't do the same with a samurai focus.

I would have liked to see them do a story involving the red ranger coming from a samurai clan and recruiting people in America to be rangers but they may be able to come up with something just as worth while.

Hopefully Shinkenger's adaptation isn't limited to that 20 episode order. I see they've somewhat kept the Sinkenger's personalities for their Power Ranger counter-parts.

I believe they still could reach out to the previous Saban season actors. They are casting American/Canadian actors and relocating them to NZ for filming only.

Haha, I'd take the New Zealand's scenery over the recreation park that Saban recycled season after season.

It's official: I have now preordered GTA VI for PlayStation 5; the more expensive and feature-complete Ultimate Edition of the game, that is. I also intend to buy a PS5 Slim optical drive next month(?) in the hopes of maybe indirectly convincing SIE to reverse its controversial plans to go all-digital on all post–Jan 2028 PS console games, even though GTA VI is a digital-only game.
Happy anniversary to "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout".
