I still don't know what the exact plot of this one is. Which is probably for the better.

Welll..... a lot of the negative reviews say that the film doesn't really have a plot.

Um....that its bright and colorful? :P The reviews have been pretty negative.

When I saw the trailer I just knew this was the type of sequel that shouldn't have been made. Still it's Metacritic has at least 50, so I don't think it is Nut Job bad.

blue sky can be very hit or miss with their flicks. Peanuts is next so...

Shame about the negative reviews. It looked like a lot of fun.

I saw the full trailer for Rio 2 in the theater when I went to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and based on what I've seen, everything about this movie screams "pointless sequel". The first Rio wasn't that great and it told a finite story that was resolved. there was really no reason for Blue Sky to make a 2nd Rio movie other than the first film made a lot of money worldwide. Everything about Rio 2 screams "We're only in it for the money!".

Rio 2 is made by Blue Sky Studios, aka the Ice Age people.

okay I've got to ask did anyone here actually
SEE THE MOVIE ?
because all I'm hearing is "I've read the reviews"

This isn't the sort of the movie that I'd pay to see in the theaters. I'll probably rent it when it's on DVD. That's how I saw the first Rio.

I saw the first movie in theaters and watch it often when it airs on TV. It's one of my favorite Blue Sky movies However, despite having great animation, Blue Sky doesn't have the best track record of well-written films. I'm more cautious concerning what films I see in theaters after the glut of films last year, so I decided not to go based on the reviews.

Guys, this thread is going to be shut down unless we start discussing the movie. I thought this place was against judging movies by their trailers/reviews. So let's stop talking about what we THINK the movie is going to be like, and actually SEE it.

I like your attitude, but what the point of wasting 15 dollars to see a medicore film that looks medicore the reviews say are medicore and is basically I bunch of pictures to keep kids busy. This is a forgetable film and this thread is a refelection there is a good reason why the Nut Job thread is collecting dust

I see your point, but no, I'm not going to go see it. I didn't see the 1st one in the theaters (as previously stated, I rented it on DVD) and I don't regret that decision. Rio was the kind of film that I remember for a minute after seeing it and then I forget about it and just go on with my day. And Rio 2 just looks like little more than a cash grab and something to keep younger kids distracted for 90 minutes. I won't discourage anyone else from going to the theater and seeing it if they choose to, but the first Rio didn't pull me in and this one doesn't look any more intriguing.

It's a shame; in a year which so far has had a pretty good track record for kids' movies (Frozen, The Lego Movie, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Muppets Most Wanted), we still get clunkers like this and The Nut Job. Maybe those movies should have gone straight to video.

actually bit down and saw it
and it wasn't that bad not great but not all bad

Finally got to see it today and really the only negative thing I can think of is that the story was a little mixed up, I think some more time could've been added to help it.As for the positives it was a nice movie that like the first one left a message about the problems for the enviorment with the first film it was animal smuggling and with this one deforestation.I liked Gabi the frog because she reminds me of Harley Quinn with her obsession with Nigel who was more comical but still had a badass scene.By the way for anyone who actually saw the movie what did Bia say what kind of frog Gabi was?Nigel's other hanchman the anteater was funny too especially with the dance he did during Nigel's I will survive song.

I have another theory as for why Johnny Bravo is neglected by CN nowadays. Putting aside the basic concept, it's the retools that made the show chaotic.
