Is there anything other folks do online that annoys you? A few of mine:

Americans who ask "What's that in dollars?" when I mention something in pounds. Come on, for all practical purposes you can just replace the £ with a $ and they're roughly the same thing.

People who use poor spelling/grammar, then defend it with arguments like 'lol chill this is not school!!1"

People who randomly IM you because they were bored and plucked random names from the member's list (though to be fair, a tiny number of folks who have done this are ok).

People who resort to personal attacks, ad hominems, and strawman arguments (and since this is the internet, lots of ungly sterotypes have arisen, making this a most gear-grinding practice for me)

People who try to force/pressure their opinions on a TV show/movie/book on others. I mean, forums are for civil discussion on you opinions, not for recruiting a KKK light.

Except for the fact that 1 pound is almost 2 dollars. 1 Euro, on the other hand, is slightly more than a dollar.

I hate all caps. I hate the caps lock button, period.

People annoy me online for the same reason they annoy me in general. People suck. =P

What exchange rates have you been looking at?

I'm not talking about in that sense. If I say "I scored a bargain today, (DVD set) for only (price)!", do you REALLY need it exactly converted into American dollars? If I did it the other way round, most folks would probably be annoyed too.

l33t speak is the spawn of Satan

Being IMed when you obviously have your away message up. There is a reason that message is up, people!

Stupidity. Oh wait, that's just people in general >.<

heh ^_^;;;

Overuse of irony in message board posts.

Your pound is twice as strong as the dollar -- something that's 25 quid is actually $50. It's a valid question, especially when it comes to getting a deal.

Hmm. Top gear grinder would be people who say, "This is what I do, what do you think?" and then when they get negative feedback, they say, "You don't know me! You can't judge me!" Keep your trap shut in the first place then, dumbass.

Also ranking high up there, but this could just be a general grind rather than net specific -- people who whine about how their lives are screwed up or how they can't get a date. You can't get always get what you want, toots. Deal with it.

Not in the sense I get it in. I'm aware the pound is stronger, but the question comes up in situations where it's really not needed.

I'll throw in 'for the win/for the lose'.

People who respond to an IM with one word and expect you to keep the convo going, or people who start talking to you and then suddenly stop.

Oh, and let's not forget the pain and mental trauma of receiving forwarded messages.

And sometimes that reason is that the person forgot to turn off their away message.

The thing that irks me the most is the heightened sense of insecurity that an annoymous form of communication manages to create.

Indeed, although it is hard to continue a conversation on IM at times.

Old people and family seem to love forwarded messages. They don't understand that they're pointless and rather annoying >.> At least that's how it is for me.

The one liner thing annoys me too. One of my friends that I talk to through email will usually respond with a one liner. I can write an essay length email and she'll respond with a "that's cool" or something like that. Annoying.
