Has anyone heard of NFT cartoons? I have some videos on it, they may be slightly NSFW (with some swearing).

I am not trying to get political, but I think NTFs is kinda a scam. Apparently, people in the entertainment industry like Mila Kunis, Tara Strong, and Dan Harmon are making NFT cartoons, but the others seem to be made by amateurs. Most of this looks like it's mediocre or absolute trash, that Bored Apes cartoon looks like trash.

Everything I've heard about NFTs make them sound like a terrible scam that people are desperately trying to make the cool new hip thing to get. I just do not see the appeal, especially when they all look ugly. I'm not surprised that people within the animation industry are getting into it, although Tara Strong's involvement is another reason why I'm glad that I dropped her podcast.

Ship it Show? It's okay, really hasn't been updated in a while.

Well if you want to be fair Tara Strong, Mila Kunis or Dan Harmon, maybe they don't know it's a scam, maybe they gotten taken in. I have listened to podcasts about what a scam NFT is. Who ever made the bored Apes cartoon seems shady to me.

Admittedly, I dropped it after they brought in Butch Hartman as a guest, but I'm not surprised that it hasn't been updated in awhile.

Oh I'm sure that they got taken in or don't know the full details. I still don't think it's a good look for any of them, but they might not be entirely at fault depending on how they were sold on the idea. All I know is that the response to NFT has been overwhelmingly negative, unless you're already hooked into them. Companies trying to make NFT into the hot new trend is just pathetic. I remember the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade having NFTs of some floats last year, which made me roll my eyes and screamed of desperation.

I haven’t been following this closely, but I heard that people tried explaining to Tara why NFTs were bad and she responded by saying she was being bullied, and then said people were bullying Rob Paulsen when he said he was doing something with NFTs even though he admitted he needed to educate himself on them.

Well I can't really judge the situation either, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did get heated responses from people trying to explain to her why NFTs are bad. I would hope that she didn't write off all of the responses as people trying to bully her, or at least that there were people genuinely trying to explain the situation politely, but I can't really judge it too much either way. At least Rob Paulsen admitted that he needed to educate himself on them.

NTFs reminds me of the characters-types from the Realm of Darthon game from Regular Show.

NTFs look ugly and everything about them sounds bad. The fact that there are people buying into is quite sad.

I admit I don't care about this, because I'm never gonna watch this crap, but yeah, as someone whose seen pics of it online - UGH.

This crap is an insult to everything pertaining Western Animation in general and it needs to die off quickly if this beloved medium of mine is to survive going into or even past 2025. FACTS.

Western animation nowadays gets a bad enough rap from people still treating it en masse like kid's junk in favor of anime, which is practically the same thing, just with a different set of artstyles amf storytelling methods than here in the West (ALSO FACTS.). WE DON'T need CRAP like THIS making things WORSE for Western animation fans like myself, especially when - again, we already got it bad enough with what people think of this medium on average as of late, at least when compared to anime, especially especially.

Well to be fair, some Japanese grifter could make anime NFTs.

There are a ton of great Western animated series out now, like Arcane or Invincible, I think Western animation is doing really well nowadays. The problem isn't just that these animated projects are terrible, the real problem is NFTs seems like a giant scam to me. To watch the Stoner Cats series, I would have to buy a Stoner Cat NFT and most random animation on News Ground is better than most of these NFT animated series.

Now the one by Dan Harmon looks okay, but I am not buying an NFT to watch it. Really the idea that you can buy an NFT and have the character you bought be licensed for animated projects seems really stupid to me, because almost no one wants to see a show about these bored apes or a stoned lion, and most of those characters look very similar to each other.

I would even give someone like Tara Strong the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was taken in by the NFT grift and is being defensive on Twitter about it because she had to deal with trolls on the platform in the past and thus doesn't want to take criticism from strangers on Twitter. It's just a shame that people like Tara Strong, Mila Kunis, and Dan Harmon are buying into this grift.

I want a straight answer: are nfts worth it or not?

Depends on if you think art in some gallery or auction is worth buying and trading.
So, it's basically DeviantArt, except you're forced to pay money just to look at art that isn't good to begin with..... Almost sounds about right, honestly.

The art style of the monkeys remind me of the Nutshack. Also Tara Strong is involved in NFT cartoons? I loved most of her voice work on various cartoons but come on.

Everything I hear about NFTs boils down to "they're scams", "they're havens for art thieves", "they're bad for the environment", "you don't actually own the artwork", etc.

Every time I read the word "blockchain", my brain shuts off.

The simpler analogy is trading cards or collectible toys if that card or toy is a hot potato.

Here's my hot take on the phenomenon. I see no use in owning an NFT for personal use in the same way I would with a piece of physical artwork due to its lack of tangibility and seeing how unattractive most of them are. However, I don't see any use in bullying or unfollowing someone on the sole basis of them investing in NFTs just because you don't like them. At best, you're proving their view that you're blindly hating on them.

As for whether this trend in animation will catch on, probably not if they continue to be this shoddy and low-effort.
