A compilation of the games from Mortal Kombat through Mortal Kombat 4 is out on the horizon. It'll also include some of the console ports for the games.

Here's a link to a video from Digital Eclipse, the company that will be releasing it. It's age restricted. So you'll need to be logged into your YouTube account to view it.

There's a Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection with the arcade games, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection with the arcade games, and now this will finally be a reality. Now if they could bring the The Simpsons arcade game to consoles, then I'd have it made.

This is LONG overdue. The last time we got a MK collection was 2011 for PS3/Xbox 360, and that only had MK 1, MK 2 and UMK3 for arcade. Here's hoping they follow it up with a collection of the PS2/Xbox titles (Deadly Alliance, Deception, Shaolin Monks, Armageddon).

I remembered that I have the means to play the arcade-perfect versions of MK through UMK3 on my Playstation 2, but it seems to have stopped working. So this collection will be a Godsend.

Below are the versions of the games that will be included on this set. I'll also link to an article about it.

Mortal Kombat – 1992: Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear
Mortal Kombat II -1993: Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X
Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995: Arcade, SNES, Genesis
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995: Arcade, SNES
Mortal Kombat 4 – 1997: Arcade
Mortal Kombat Advance – 2001: Game Boy Advance
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance – 2002: Game Boy Advance
Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – 2003: Game Boy Advance

Only nitpick is I wish they would've included the Sega CD version of the first game and UMK3 for Genesis, if only for completeness. Dreamcast port of MK4 would've been nice too, since that had some exclusive characters.

I'm surprised about some of the omissions myself, but I'm only really interested in the fact that it offers the arcade versions of all of the games. Anyway, there are supposed to be more things about it announced, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they are.

As for extras it might have, some special about the making of Mortal Kombat 3 aired the day after Thanksgiving on Fox in 1995. I wonder if it'll be something in this set.

Do you mean this? It was included on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 if nothing else:

Or something else?

Yes that's the one. Thanks for finding it. I tried digging it up a few days ago and found nothing.

By the way, this year also marks the 30th year of the first Mortal Kombat movie. It should have a 4K release this year with more special features. A making of special for the movie aired on TBS back then. I'd hope it could be a special feature if there aren't any rights issues that would prevent it from happening.

New trailer for the Physical Edition release (along with the reveal that it now includes "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" (originally released in 1996):

The physical edition is coming in December, but it's still unclear if a digital release is coming sooner.

That's awesome news. I guess I'll be retiring my Mortal Kombat Trilogy PlayStation disc. The release date by the way, is December 12th.

On atari.com, it shows that there will also be a deluxe edition of MKLK, but it doesn't seem to be available for the X-Box systems. In addition, there will also be a kollector's edition that seems to be available exclusively on atari.com, which consists of swag totally different from what comes with the deluxe edition, and of course costs a lot more. It can only be ordered this month.

When I got the news earlier today that there were preorders going up, I went on Best Buy's site and saw that there was a deluxe edition. Then I preordered it not knowing just what it was all about. It just sounded good to me. Then when I went to atari.com and saw the kollector's edition, I decided I'd go for that instead, even though I'm only really interested in the hardcover art & lore book that comes with it.

From the front page of AnimeSuperhero.com:

"“Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection” Reveals New Content With Release Date"

Mortal-Kombat-Legacy-Kollection-1.jpg

"Earlier this summer, one of the highlights of the PlayStation “State of Play” was the reveal of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, a game gathering all of the early Mortal Kombat titles (from the 90’s and early 2000’s) into one collection. Now, with the arrival of Evo (the yearly fighting game tournament), studio “Digital Eclipse” and publisher “Atari” have revealed new content being added to the collection, along with a release date for the physical edition.

The latest addition to the collection is “Mortal Kombat Trilogy”, originally released on the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 (though Digital Eclipse representatives at Evo later confirmed it’s the PS1 version being included here). They also confirmed a physical version is arriving December 12th, but strongly hinted at a digital version arriving earlier."

Good to hear about MKT being added- I own the N64 version but not the PS1 version so this'll round things out nicely.

It turns out that the kollector's edition of MKLK can be ordered from Limited Run's site as well. I already did it on Atari's site, but LR's site reveals a catch. They'll send the game itself out in December, but all of the other stuff in the kollector's edition won't ship out until late May 2026. Adding it to your cart on LR's site splits them both up; the game and the kollector's edition contents. The listing on Atari's site says pretty much the same thing, but doesn't tell you when. I somehow missed that part, or just misinterpreted it.

Them tossing in Sub-Zero and Special Forces is fantastic (even if they're really spinoffs that were not so great -in fact, the gameplay mechanics are reportedly pretty bad). But I just like the variety!

Are there any other unique Mortal Kombat 90's games they can throw in? (or maybe from 2000 or 2001 at the latest)? I know there's some versions of games from the Nintendo 64 that aren't on the list, but as long as they include the PS1 version, that's "close enough". I think they're about done.

We just need a release date, Atari!!!

Maybe there can be a Legacy Kollection 2 sometime in the future to cover a lot of the other miscellaneous MK-related games.

I mentioned above that it comes out on December 12th. I've since edited the thread title to reflect that.

I've seen people express disappointment in Mortal Kombat Gold not being included, and it's another version of Mortal Kombat 4 which has more fighters and stages. The developers were mainly interested in games that came out for systems up to the PlayStation, and the arcade games that came out from 1992 to 1997. I don't think any Mortal Kombat arcade games came out past 1997 anyway. They have games for the Game Boy Advance, which all came out after 2001, which is the year the GBA was released.

I should clarify, I meant the digital release date, as some websites still believe it's being released digitally in September. If that's true, their window for adding more games to the Kollection is fading fast.

I plan on buying it digitally.

You know what's interesting? I've seen two other people do the same thing you did, where you ask when it gets released, and I tell them the date, and then they say that they meant the digital version.

I also made a mistake, saying it comes out on the 16th. I corrected my previous post to say the 12th, and of course did the same with the title.
...or they can do DLC like Atari 50.
I've seen other people talking about how they're thinking that other games could become DLC.
