Im looking forward to this.

Probably 2011

First thought was "...Teenage Pinocchio?" Because of the "Monstro" part of it.

Looks interesting.

The designs remind me of Jimmy Two-Shoes. Lets see if this show can be my cup of tea.

Probably never...which is weird cuz...everyone seems to like it. - except the everyones that work at networks and are in charge of optioning shows for broadcast. If you are one of those everyones...then you don't like it.

oops...is my bitterness showing? ;)

Maybe just a little.

But seriously, no one wants to pick up MC High? I'm really scartching my head on this one since I could've sworn that it had quite the following already despite it not even being a show yet and, ya know, would likely be successful and stuff.

Guess we're just gonna hafta trust that the networks know what's best for us, I reckon. Ya know, us being the home viewing audience.

...Wow, really? You'd think CN would have interest in this show.

Why would Cartoon Network have interest in this show?

Personally I think it looks like all of the other Canadian shows that have come to the states (Total Drama, 6Teen, etc.), no offense to anyone who likes those shows. Why is it that all of the Canadian shows that have come to the states are these angular "glass-shard" style shows that are artistic wanna-be's of Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls? You can't honestly tell me that all of Canada's shows look like this, right? Let me see some of the more original looking Canadian cartoons, the ones that are actually funny too.

Here here! Hey Mickialla, maybe you can give us some examples of these super funny Canadian shows you are talking about.

- also, 'all these' Canadian shows you're refering to (TDI, 6teen, Stoked and MonstroCity High) were 'all' designed by the same two guys, so it's no shock that they 'all' have the same sort of look. A look I might add that has little to nothing to do with the artist and everything to do with the creator/network/broadcaster asking for their show to look a certain way. For example, Stoked looks like 6teen because Teletoon wanted it that way, not because Fresh is trying to brand some sort of 'glass-shard' style.

- also, also...The style doesn't represent the lack of understanding or the ability of the artist who design them but rather the budgets enforced upon the production house. A good designer (wheather you appreciate their work or not) needs to take into consideration the limitations of the schedule and crew working of the show. These cut-out styles are easier to reproduce by the masses (who have 'no choice' (if they want to work in Canada) but to work with Flash or a similar software). A more Disney-esque hand drawn look is without doubt more appealling but leaves more to interpretation. And by interpretation I mean possible missed deadlines resulting in lawsuits for the production house and inevitably the loss of jobs or even worse, the loss of the studio.

Basically what I'm saying is that sometimes things are more than what they appear to be on the surface. A lot of concessions must be made to get a show on TV - and if you want 'your' show to see the light of day you make those concessions - like it or not.

also, also, also...not to sound mean...but - that whole thing about Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls makes you sound a bit naive. You do realize those shows are not unigue and that the artist who designed them were inspired by other art that preceded them, right?

Craig McCracken and Genndy Tartovsky were so unoriginal, having INSPIRATIONS! How dare they!

I don't like Stoked, 6teen, TDA, or Johnny Test. SJ and PPG are much better (Heck, I'd go as far to say they're some of the best animated series I've ever seen.)

I’m just going to lock this thread before it goes downhill. MonstroCity High hasn’t been picked up by Cartoon Network, anyway, so I’m not sure what discussion could be had. However, people need to remember that quality is subjective and one show isn’t inherently better than another show, and besides, telling somebody in the industry “your show sucks” isn’t really the best way to generate a civil discussion. Also, Staffa wasn’t trying to insult Samurai Jack or The Powerpuff Girls, but rather, was stating a universal truth: everything is inspired by what came before it. Whether they’re made in Canada or the United States is irrelevant.
