...that "Funky Stadium!" crap was all my fault. I don't even like that stage, it's too big! Yet, I still rallied support just by spamming the message.

Can we all agree on one thing? Boosts don't help on Rainbow Road. I swear, I got like ten Golden Mushrooms in one race...it wasn't pretty.

No, they make things WORSE for me. I got a million of those frickin' things and you lose significant control, especially when there's lots of turns, oh yeah! And falling off the edge is always a threat aswell.

I use powerslide boosts all the time at Rainbow Road. Mushrooms can actually aid at one of the turns as it helps you skip the turn completely and jump over it. It's just pretty tricky to time and, if you miss, you're screwed.

Also, I managed to miss a blue shell that someone fired at one of our Rainbow Road races. It was right behind me, I freaked out, and used my item I had at the time, which was a mushroom, and I managed to escape the explosion! Needless to say I felt quite awesome.

It seems very few items are really useful on Rainbow Road aside from Lightning when someone goes off a jump.

Has anyone else been having occasional problems connecting to the WFC with Mario Kart? There have been a few times in recent nights that I couldn't connect, but if I went out to the Wii menu and tested the connection it was fine. I've been assuming it's a Mario Kart server thing (although tonight I think it was an isp thing for awhile...).

I have ahd that happen once or twice. Usually its Wii WFC thats down (DS WFC games still work)

Well, I finally manage to get gold trophies in every cup. I'm not exactly sure how, but I even managed to get a single star rating on Mirror Mode Special Cup. I'll consider that a good thing since it means I don't have to revisit it if I go for stars on all cups (at least, not if I'm going for only one star). The funny thing is, I only got an A grade on Mirror Mode Lightning Cup even though I got a much better score and simply drove better all around. This ranking system really is fickle sometimes.

I also unlocked the final "fast" staff ghost last night. I have to give some thanks to Eddy for inadvertently helping me beat the Rainbow Road ghost. I'd never even considered using a mushroom to jump over a gap in any portion of that track, but that's how I eventually shaved some seconds after my time. I'm skeptical regarding whether or not I'd have beaten that ghost by enough seconds without doing that. For those who are wondering what gap I jumped over, it's that first big turn after you go past the two circular holes in the middle of the track. The track turns one direction, and then the other immediately after, but I used the mushroom to jump over the pit and land just before the second turn. It was a pain in the butt to get the timing and trajectory right, but in the end I was able to do it three times in one race (although I'm sure I couldn't do that every time ).

I know I still have some things to unlock, but I'm not sure I have the energy to go for a star rating on every cup.....

It's simple, you need to grab some Mushrooms and use them as boosts to push the Topmans out of the stage and...

Wait, you mean tournaments as a whole?

Every now and then, in the Mario Kart Channel, you'll get a notice that a new tournament has started. They are specific tasks that must be done with certain restrictions and conditions. The best times are archived and saved for prosperity, and you can brag to your friends if you made into the Top Ten.

To play a tournament, simply log into the MK Channel and look for the "Tournaments" option so you can enter the current tournament. You can play the tournament as many times you want and send as many times you like, but once the tournament is over, it can't be played ever again. (Unless they plan on making this content downloadable later on).

Tournament #1 was a race on Mario Circuit, but the Giant Chain Chomp was running loose on the stage.

Tournament #2 was a solo race on one of the Battle stages were you have to go through a specific route, marked by various checkpoints.

Tournament #3 features a brand-new stage created solely for this tournament called Galaxy Colosseum. You have to push three Topmans (from SM Galaxy fame) out of the stage using mushrooms.

every two weeks, i believe. by the pattern i've noticed, they host a tournament for a week and then the following week there are none to allow for score tallying and bragging rights and what not

Okay look guys. I like Rainbow Road as much as you do. But PLEASE STOP PICKING IT ALL THE TIME. Seriously, everytime I have a WFC match, I need to pray that 5 or 6 people won't pick Rainbow Road. I'm not saying it's not a fun stage but I would like to play in moderation.

(This is totally not a way for me to complain about my many losses on that stage or anything. Damn you Billet Bill)

By the way, if any of you guys get GameInformer, and you read the review for Mario Kart Wii. Did you notice the caption said "Rainbow Road gets harder every game." That's so true. I think the Nintendo executives sit around a table and say

Executive A-"Now how can we make Rainbow Road even more insane than Mario Kart DS?"
Executive B-"How about we add more speed boosts and make the turns sharper so it's near impossible to escape from. Oh and add a cannon like in the DK levels, but make it like a star?"
Executive C-"And, like, a magic invisible bridge that links two parts of the track together. Oh and the racers should look like they're flying."
Executive A-"Excellent job men. Let's get to work!"

Yeah, they are definitely on something when they make these levels

if they started making rainbow road less difficult as the games go by, then where's the fun? if you can master rainbow road, then there's no reason why any other track should give you a hard time. i'm still waiting for nintendo to come up with a cup of nothing but previous rainbow roads. players will cry tears of frustration trying to get a triple star rank on that cup, let alone first place

as for people constantly picking rainbow road on wifi? can't be helped. you just have to vote for what you want to race. if you don't want to put up with it anymore, you can always back out of that grouping and search for another one. that's what i do when i'm forced to constantly race luigi's circuit 5 times in a row

We must play totally different people, then. Wario Gold Mine, Rainbow Road, Luigi Circuit, Coconut Mall, and DK Summit are the courses picked more than any other when I'm online.

Same thing with Delfino Plaza and Funky Stadium in battle mode.

I never seen people pick Rainbow Road and if I do I'm usually the one picking it. Most of the time in the with anyone races I see people picking Coconut Mall, Luigi Circuit, SNES Ghost Valley 2, and Maple Treeway.
