We pretty much know the premise of Codename: Kids Next Door as five unique, immature individuals fighting the looming presence of adults imposing their rule on them, but could it be possible that by watching this show, kids might try and defy their parents, teachers, and any other authority figure they come across the same way the Kids Next Door fight off their grown-up adversaries?

Or is this just some childish fantasy that could never possibly be pulled off IRL?

No flames please. Intelligent conversation only.

I have seen Stuff like this before. It is posible for yung kids to take stuff like this the wrong way. Kids that are prone for this should be explained to by the parents that this stuff is not real and just a cartoon. I once watched a kid jump off a rail from the second floor at my local mall. He thaught he could fly like superman.

You have a good point. Actually during the credits of I think ed edd and eddy today. The announcer said that it was great living alone, and then they listed all these great things... I think kids might run away from home when they hear that! But back to KND... it would make sense. I mean, thw whole thing is about how adults and teenagers are evil! even though I have a lot of teachers I sure would like to hit, they're not evil. And kids might actually be against their older brothers and sisters  but hey, what are you going to do... it's what t.v shows do... parents have to talk to their kids about it. Otherwise, things like what xana brought up could happen again...

Xana, I think this is the one post I saw from you that wasn't just childish...

Let me guess, you've seen a total of two episodes EVER? The show is not about how evil adults and teenagers can be. There are many adults that are NOT villians and are actually good people (their parents are one example). The show has teenage and adult villians AND AND AND AND children villians. Any kid that would take the message of this show to heart is just as likely drop an anvil on someone's head from watching too much Bugs Bunny.

Every time this issue comes up, I point people to the interview I conducted with Mr. Warburton and Mo Willems, whom I consider friends. We've talked many times and they are "lurkers" to this forum. Anyway, I shall quote....
Tom Warbuton says, "I think that there’s a misconception that KND is just about how horrible all adults are. As you’ll see in the upcoming season, some of the adults, like the kid’s parents, are really nice people. Kids Next Door is about Numbuhs One through Five running around trying to stop a few crazy adults who are trying to control their lives. The Operatives aren’t bad kids. I wasn’t that rebellious a kid either. I was more goofy, running around in the woods and building crazy contraptions and stuff like that."
There you have it, straight out of the horses mouth. I'm being such a hardbutt on this issue because its old, has been discussed, and really a misunderstanding of an intent. If you percieve the show as really making kids do evil, so be it, but I don't think you're getting the whole picture or have been watching much lately. The show has an evolved plotline that is actually leading to issues of relations between kids/teens/adults, and should come up this entire season. Nothing is black and white. Expect more gray.

1.I"m really happy someone actually quoted what I said.

2. There is like 1 kid villan (if you don't count the dcfdl)

3. like Xana said... it has happened before

4. like I said before... it's what cartoons do... there's nothing we can do about it... we just don't want kids to randomly attack their teachers

well i kinda agree depending on what age the kid is. he may rebel agianst his parents if he is like 6 or 7 or 8 but they will starighten him out. older kids will see that it is not ot be taken seroiusly.

KND is just about a couple crazy adults trying to bring them down. And it's not just adults. Teenagers and kids also attempt to stop the KND (Hello-Delightful Children!). And in the third season, as the show goes on, it's less about adults. There have been more new episodes with the villian being a kid or a teenager instead of an adult. I'm not a huge fan of that show (It's sort of good, but it isn't that great)but I still think that's not the case.

Nice point, CookieS. Not many kids would start to rebel against their parents from watching too much of this show.

Well, tecnically he's a teenager (assuming you're reffering to Chad aka #274)

Yeah, sometimes it DOES seem like it's portraying kids as innocent little children and adults as evil tyrants but not all the time. Heck, recently even one of the adult villains (Stickybeard) helped the KND out. So I guess it all just depends...

:moon: :moon: :moon: If I'm not mistaken this is what I heard (this isn't word for word)

" Even though we want to destroy you, we weren't going to let you get destroyed by vegetables" Like I said before, it's not word for word, but you get the point. Look, I'm not saying that every kid who watches this show will attack their parents. But there is a very small chance that it could happen to one or two children. And that could be sort of bad... :moon2: :moon2: :moon2:

KND will probably be a bad influence for a couple of kids. But most will learn it's fantasy. ...And I can think of nothing more...

Even though they only fight the evil adults and what not, quite a few times they utter "grownup" and "teenager" like they were derogatory cuss words or something.

What's disturbing isn't the anti-adult thing but how mean spirited the show has turned out to be.

  • Number 5 and her sister...they tried to shove each other into space.
  • The violence in the fights between the kids/adults and kids/adults
  • The fact that there are rarely scenes with "good" teens and adults.
If I had a kid I wouldn't let them watch this show and that's saying a lot since I'm a 22 year guy who doesn't see himself as an authority figure yet. But the show takes place in a fantasy universe I really wouldn't want my child to be a apart of.

Warburton might say its all in good fun but there is something disturbing about parents never being around, kids fending for themselves against crazy adults, no cops to arrest these individuals, kids running wooden space stations/ prisons where kids, teens, and adults spends years of their life. Teens and adults are automatically looked at as threats...

PPG has a very mean spirit as well but thats circumvented by comedy and an underline sweetness to the show. KND doesn't have any of that.

Yeah, its just a crazy fantasy show that's done in good fun but I really don't see the "fun". I feel like Bill O'Reily right now...which makes me angry but meh.

The only ep that had authorities was the one where they framed Count Spankula and he got arrested. I mean, they let him roam free and spank kids and just because he does it to a nice kid he gets sent up the creek. Freaky stuff

I have another theory as for why Johnny Bravo is neglected by CN nowadays. Putting aside the basic concept, it's the retools that made the show chaotic.
