Johnny Test cancelled?

I guess this is good news? Really, JT is a low budget, below average show that did air more times than it had any right to but was still easily ignorable.
Yeah honestly, I never got the dedicated hatedom the series had for all of its run. I'm not here to defend it; it was a poorly-produced, generic, and forgettable series, but out of all the cartoons, this? It was a show that was nothing more than a placeholder to get some quick revenue fast and easy for Teletoon and/or Cartoon Network. It's really just insignificant to Cartoon Network in the long run, since they've clearly paid much more attention to Adventure Time or Clarence in terms of advertising and schedule placement, as well as even legacy for the network. Johnny Test was only a series that was...there. Nothing more, nothing less.

Then again, I'm not one to talk. I don't really believe in the idea of dedicating time to what I don't like. I'm far too positive that I much prefer promoting what I love than focusing on a dumb kids show. It also helps that I've yet to even see a series I truly despised. :p

Had the cancellation occurred a few seasons earlier, I probably would've felt some sadness. However, the show had overstayed its welcome. I personally enjoyed Season 1. It wasn't the most groundbreaking show at the time, but at least the animation was good (not surprising, setting how it was animated by Warner Bros. Animation) and the writing was decent. When Season 2 came along, it was still fine, but subsequent season made more disappointed as time went along. It's reached the point where most Season 6 episodes are nearly unbearable to watch.

Final verdict? I feel a tinge of sadness saying this, but the sooner the cancellation, the better.

honestly, season 1 was the only one I was able to tolerate

JT got old fast, if it wasn't already old when it started. A show that was a product of Its time that was long overdue. As our grumpy dog from "Toons These Days" said; WE'VE HAD ENOUGH OF GNARLY DUDES! Finally, it's over.

You mean Canadians like and/or respect our (American) culture more because there own culture stinks, right? Is that what you were trying to say?

If so, I think that has to do with too much of their animated fare being government funded, for example, which can lead to some rules being imposed that hinder creative products.

Unlike French-Canada or Quebec where they have built their own star system status for decades, the English-Canada have lived the culture more to what the Americans done than on their own. That's makes their own culture much Americanised than real Americans bloods can actually doing, even if the Quebec's star system start to go on this route now. And yeah, they (The artists) beg too much Governmentals funds and even the most brillant of them have to wait their paycheck like everyone. I'm a Canadian, so i know that tough it's hard to trust any artistics creations made here becauswe of that alone. It's the only developped country who live a foreign culture.

About Johnny Test, it's about time they cancel that! And that cancellation will bring animation their better days back!

Hallelujah.

The worst thing to come from Canada other than Justin Beiber, Carly Rae Jespen, Theory of a Deadman, the pronunciation "COOCH" instead of couch, hockey, Drake, Nickelback, Total Drama Island, cold weather, and Naturally, Sadie.

No wonder why Canadians medias care too much of the American culture if their own culture stinks

OK, guys. Take it easy. There's no need to bash an entire nation just because of one mediocre cartoon that came from there. I can't hate a country that gave us SCTV and The Kids in the Hall.

Yeah, Johnny Test ran much longer than it needed to, but the same can be said for The Simpsons and Fairly OddParents, and those shows are still going. Honestly, season 1 of Test wasn't all that terrible. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. The season 1 animation was decent. Test suffered mostly because of it's insufferable, obnoxious and gratuitously generic title character. Had Test focused on a different, more original and likable character and had the series not recycled the same tropes and plots over and over again (such as the endless string of racing episodes...and no, Test writers, having your characters constantly point out that the plot's been done a lot doesn't make it any funnier or less repetitive), the series might have gone over better.

Don't worry - Canada has given me plenty of good TV, before and even after this show. I just can't help but stress how relying on government too much is a hindrance to the creative process (which Canada is highly guilty of!). This was one of those shows if it lasted so long without better funding to boost the overall quality.

Please don't bring politics and government into this discussion. That's really off-topic. There's also no need to bash an entire country for this show since that's going way too far too.

Personally, I never got the immense hate this show got. It's certainly not good, overplayed and lasted longer than it probably should have, but based on what I've seen, it isn't bad enough to warrant being so hated. It's just a completely meh kind of series to me, so I couldn't care less if it gets cancelled or renewed.

I can only hope so. Room needs to be made for good shows like Steven U and Clarence.

I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I enjoyed the first season quite a bit actually. It never reached that quality again and got repetitive at times, but I still think it had its moments, though I never cared much for it.

I despise the hate the show gets here though. It's fair enough to not like it, but it has gone way out of hand many times, and despite the show's success in ratings people thought it should go away for good. There are people here that takes every opportunity to flame the show and it just creates a bad mood rather than bring any good discussion whatsoever, that's what really annoys me. All in all the show has done well despite little promotion and especially in reruns. It will likely also have lasted 10 years on Teletoon when it ends and 8-9 on CN. That's impressive!

And yes, surely it ends with that already renewed seventh season. The three parter seems like a good way to end it and it might as well go out big.

I haven't watched the show in like a bazillion years, but I remember it being okay. I remember liking Susan and Mary a LOT more than Johnny and Dukey, and Sissy (was her name Sissy?, it's been a while) was also kinda neat.

That said, if this is its last season, it's a great run. Few shows can claim to last 7 seasons.

It was no Animaniacs, but yeah, I didn't hate this show the way others seem to (though admit Johnny himself was often annoying... being a book-dumb, bratty sitcom character does that :-p ).

I'd note it's also the final non-anime vestige of Kids' WB lineup, since it debuted on there lo these many years ago. Kind of sad that the last trace of that's finally gone, if this cancellation rumor's true.

Is it really taking the place of any better show, though? These Canadian programs aren't CN's first priority. They pay none of the production costs and get them cheap. With the money they save from canning JT, I guess they could buy....one half of a new Steven Universe episode.

i liked Johnny Test from Season 1 to Season 4, im not fan of the show much, , but like Annoying Orange on CN, i just watch show when there nothing on, i do have say that season 5 drag things down more then season 4

Her name was Sissy. You were correct.

I can understand disliking a show, but hating it because you are not the target audience? Has easy access to anonymity and social media really made people this spiteful? I liked Johnny Test for a little while, but when it stopped being funny to me I just stopped watching it. If there is still an audience on CN for the show then I welcome it. There is plenty of room on CN for the shows I enjoy and shows I do not enjoy.

tda is not that bad nether is natirally, sadie and carly rae jepsen

Huh. A show I don't watch and don't care about dedicating hate on to is possibly dead...okay.

Sigh... I almost, ALMOST feel the same, but unlike you, I failed to escape the hatred. I still have much to learn after all.

I used to like this show when it was on Kids' WB, but if this news is true, then I could say that...

WE CAN FINALLY PUT THIS UNSAVED SHOW TO REST!

This has NOTHING to do with the target audience!

There are shows aimed at this target audience that are good (Sanjay & Craig, Grojband)
Johnny Test is NOT good.
The demographic is no excuse for a BAD show.
Season 1 of Johnny Test can be considered OK, but the later seasons are just a guideline of how to NOT make cartoons (along with the post season 3 seasons of Fairly OddParents, and that's a show I used to like)
