Wasn't very popular? It was on Nick 10+ years, had 100 episodes, and a movie. Sounds "popular" to me.

Anyway, there has been a lot of these "show talkback" threads for old '90s shows lately. There's nothing wrong with wanting to talk about them, but you should try to add a little more to get the discussion going. Bring up a little more than "I liked it" or "I didn't like it."

Personally, I really liked Hey Arnold! It had a great set of characters. I used to like to watch it weeknights at 7pm before Rugrats would come on.

I have also gotten seasons 1 & 2 on DVD via the Amazon.com's Burn-On-Demand thing.

:)

I used to watch the show when I was a kid. Even saw the movie when it came out in theaters.

I liked it, but I haven't seen it in years. I don't know how they'll hold up now as an adult.

Hey Arnold! reminded me of more of a non-educational Arthur, with all the characters similar to the Arthur characters.

I was never a big fan of Hey, Arnold! The premise as a whole was kind of generic; it was just a show about a kid in the city. That's it. There was no twist. Sure, he lived in a boarding house with his grandparents, but there wasn't really anything standout about it.

Many of the characters were either one-note or annoying to me. Arnold himself was kind of interesting at the beginning of the series when he was an iconoclastic dreamer, but in short order he developed into a blandly virtuous 'Mr. Moral' who helps everybody with their personal problems, and he became tedious very quickly for me.

I suppose Hey, Arnold! tried to carve a niche for himself as Nick's first animated comedy/drama, but the comedic moments weren't all that funny, and the dramatic shorts just bored me.

It's just easier to say that I wasn't in this show's power.

I've never known Hey Arnold! to not be popular. Anyway I loved that show as a kid but like some other cartoons I don't find it that funny now that I'm an adult.

I never saw the movie, but I have a feeling it was pretty generic.

I'm STILL annoyed we never QUITE find out what happens to Arnold's parents in that one special.

And since we need some more discussion, wasn't there supposed to be a spin-off with Helga as a teen?

And there was supposed to be a jungle movie about Arnold going to South America (?) to find his parents, too. There's even some early sketches online somewhere.

I honestly enjoy the show and call myself a fan. Sure it's "generic" but I really liked the theme that most of the pretty girls that appeared on the show were shallow or not what they seemed. Helga, on the other hand, may not have been pretty, but was probably the coolest and deepest character of Arnold's class.

I kind of liked this show when I was in elementary school. I mean it wasn't my favorite, but I still liked it. I haven't seen it in years. Oh yeah, I saw the movie in theaters. I was like one of 12 people there:p

I loved this show growing up, and wish it had the chance to release the "Jungle Movie" and "The Pataki's" spin-off series.

I don't have the dvd sets for the show yet, but it's on my wish list (along with Rocko and maybe Doug).

That show was ok back in the days. ;)

But...I have one question that puzzles by this day.

I think its the ep's where Arnold's grampa tells him the story about his mom and dad. He was reading in thier journal. Around the end of the eps, where Arnold was looking through the journal, outside, at the very end of the page there were to pages was stick together. Arnold open it and found a map and runs back inside to tell his grampa.

All I want to know...WHAT HAPPEN AFTER THAT?!?

Its one of the biggest cliffhangers I ever seen.

This was covered in an earlier thread, but I'm too lazy to look for it right now. Anyway, there was supposed to a be a 2nd Hey, Arnold! movie that would have tied all that up, but the project was scrapped.

^ That's what the jungle movie was supposed to be about. But Nick canceled it before it could be developed (I believe because the "Save the Neighborhood" movie didn't do well in theaters).

 And I will never know.

I did thought the movie will cover the story about Arnold mom and dad, but egh...The move wasn't that bad.

As good of a show as Hey Arnold! was, I can't say it was really a show that needed a movie or was hyped up enough to have one... so the fact that it bombed is no surprise.

I really would have liked to have seen The Patakis spin-off though.

It's my favorite Nicktoon next to Spongebob. The idea may have been generic but it was a show a lot of kids, such as myself, could relate to. The plots were always interesting and kept me entertained 100% of the time. And I had no idea Season 1 & 2 were out! I've got to get them eventually.

I have the entire first season on my iPod. This is a very good show. It's really one of the only Nicktoons that is about just an average kid. Though it ended in the early 2000s (really 2000, with the last few episodes spread through 2004), it still aired on at good times until 2006. It was very popular show. One of my favorite Nicktoons.

I remember really liking this show when I was little. I haven't seen any of it since they played the movie on Nick so I don't know if it still stands up. I thought that most of the characters were pretty interesting, or at least had interesting interactions with each other. I'm not sure who was my favorite character at the moment since it's been so long since I've seen the show.

I always was disappointed that they never tied up the loose end of what happened to Arnold's parents, especially with how that special ended with him finding a map. I understand that the first movie didn't sell well enough to make a second one, but I still wish that they had made at least a sixty-minute special to end the show. I also had heard of a spin-off involving Hegla's family and that would have been really cool to see too.

I alwasys saw it as a younger-skewing, urban version of The Simpsons. Very similar humor to the show's early years, large cast of oddballs, Dan Castellanata...

I never related it to "the Simpsons", though it always reminded me of a human version of "Arthur", but maybe the humor in "Hey Arnold" can relate to the humor in "the Simpsons", but the connection is very vague. I consider, however, that "Hey Arnold" is a possible inspiration for "South Park", the two shows are similar in their humor, though not much, but mostly "Arthur" mixed with cynical pre-teen humor.

The Voyo-exclusive Romanian dub of Garfield and Friends goes on with the second season now being relased. I was afraid they will forget about the show after only one season.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.

Conflicted about the upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, given the creator now distancing herself from it despite co-writing the screenplay and blocking one of the actresses on social media despite defending her casting in the film.
