Guys seriously it’s over for CN

Yes, it did really have dubs in both languages.

In fact, Infinity Train had dubs in all of these languages on HBO Max in Europe:
  • Danish
  • Swedish
  • Norwegian
  • Finnish
  • Dutch
  • Castillan Spanish
  • European Portuguese
  • Polish
  • Czech
  • Hungarian
  • Romanian
  • Bulgarian
  • Serbian
  • Croatian
  • Slovene
A dub in French briefly aired on Cartoon Network in France due to HBO Max not yet launching in France at the time.
CN PT was independent at the time but HBO Max had recently launched here, so no airing.

I grew up with Cartoon Network when I discovered in 1993, but wasn't sure about late 1992 if my grandparents' house had CN and we lived on military base that had crappy cable TV, so they didn't add CN until 1995. My dad retired from military in summer 1993 and we were able to get out after lived for almost one year. After moved to Birmingham, we got cable from Time Warner and I remember channel number is 18 for CN and 44 for Nickelodeon. Disney Channel was premium and you need descrambler box, but during analog day in 1980s, DC was on 56 if cable guy plug in and you had to wait for few days to watch a premium channel that you subscribed. I remember my grandma told me about new 24/7 cartoon channel is coming and I realized that was CN.

In 1993, CN aired old shows from H-B and theatrical cartoons, so youngest show was from 1980s, so yeah, it was like few years. That was grandparent channel for you and I loved it.

CN started to face more problems after Turner and WB merged, so merger was best to get Looney Tunes cartoon unified but WB started to become more greedy by pulled Looney Tunes away from ABC and Nick, so they treated Looney Tunes poorly after failure of Looney Tunes: Back in Action, so later, CN cannibalized the anime and action shows until Adult Swim bought Toonami back. They tried to add live action shows but it was failed. That put CN and WB in bad spot because of their series of poor decisions, so now with cord cutters, CN is paying a heavy price - much less viewers, Turner channels are suffered and merger with Discovery is no better. It would become much more painful if it is under Skydance and they will destroy the CN with chainsaw, so they move TTG to Nick to air, along with SpongeBob like 12 hours of SpongeBob and 12 hours of TTG on Nicktoons. That why fiercely opposed to M&A.

I wouldn't object if they sell CN and other linear networks to AMC Networks, Weigel, Hearst and other companies, so they will put rerun of shows and as for new shows, it depends on agreement with WB.

Now, future for the CN is uncertain because of WBD split the business and M&A drama (looking at David Ellison).

Or another unnecessary merger made by a nepo baby and who knows what will happen next.
Yeah, I know it is David Ellison lol.

I can't blame on you for huge concern with CN and I agreed with you.

Cartoon Network is not dead. A lot of new projects are in development, like the upcoming Powerpuff Girls reboot. And some of them are already completed and currently airing, like The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.
You hoped too much about the future that could make you disappointed in later time, so I know many people are worried about current state of Cartoon Network, including myself and you are just making problem worse for CN. New cartoon shows? I'm indifferent because CN would treat those shows poorly and they need to fix the problem with network manager.

But CN In usa doesnt get profitable . Like how
I believe that CN is still profitable but not generous like they did before cord cutter era, so they don't fall into unprofitable territory until later this decade or next decade, depends on how fast is decline with linear networks. Adult Swim just made more profits than CN did because of advertising for adult viewers.

I am seriously the fan of the Powerpuff Girls franchise and I have watched everything of that except for the 2016 reboot. And I still can't wait for the upcoming PPG reboot helmed by McCracken himself.

I still hope there will be licensing to Tubi, like what they did to Looney Tunes
A long shot, and most likely too expensive for them, but seeing Legion of Superheroes and Xialon Showdown are going to air soon on MeTV Toons, and with Duck Dodgers 2003 and Freakzaoid already part of the lineup. I hope we get some more obscure Cartoon Network originals or not-so-popular Cartoon Cartoons like Sheep in the Big City, My Gym Partner is a Monkey, Codename Kids Next Door, and Camp Lazlo... that or The Looney Tunes Show.

I think the MeTV Toons guy has said that WBA shows are on the table, but not Cartoon Network Studios Shows.

Corporate meddling seems to have put it in the freezer.
Why? Was this actually because the unexpectedly terrible reception of the 2016 reboot did enough damage to the PPG franchise? Will somebody please explain this to me?

Do Xiaolin Chronicles count? If I am wrong, will you please tell me why?

Just shows how mangled are the distribution rights for these compared to the WBA shows, especially the ones that are cheaper.

Its creator is still busy with Foster's Funtime, so greenlighting that to series instead of PPG would be considered a from of meddling.

CN has been "over" a few times before, 2009, 2017, and recently in 2023. in it's current form? it's just kinda a zombie.

there's plenty that could be done with it, i saw checkerboard in here with some great ideas, not all of them i agree with, i'll never be pro 24/7 CN US. but if the actual TV channel is going to be around for a while, it needs some sort of revamp. there isn't much variety. almost every show coming to CN within the next few years are reboots, revivals, or based off of existing properties. to be fair, indie animation is almost exclusively online. for some, it's more lucrative for some to just make their stuff online. but id love for CN to listen and seek out new animation. they also need to promote HBO max stuff more. i litterally didn't know about fiona and cake's new season until i saw some tweet about it. and of course, a better schedule.

As long as touching grass on television implies linear channels reviving. Being dependent on streaming alters the viewer's patience patterns significantly (often for the worse).

Thanks. I feel like the biggest issues with CN are unstable leadership resulting in lack of longterm vision, which results in identity crisis. So in the end the brand is unreadable, unpromoted properly and inconstistent across markets.

EDIT: To add, with Disney and Nick there isnt much room to mess up. They have a limited roster to choose from. Because of their identity. Disney Channel is a channel promoting disney things. DJr. ditto, but lower age. Nick can get away with more imo, but again, after 40 years the mission is clear. Same for NJr. With CN, Cartoon Network implies it can air anything animated. With their library it's impossible. They have too many options and too many people deciding.

Sorry but I just don't agree with this. The period 2007-2009 still had lots of new CN originals: Chowder, Transformers Animated, Ben 10 Alien Force, Flapjack and The Secret Saturdays. Just look at what shows they aired in 2007-2009 and tell me again that the channel was "over". Yes, many people were worried in 2009, but that was for a very short period of time and it was mostly online drama.

2017-2020 and especially 2021-2025 are different. The last new original CN originals were Tig 'n Seek and The Fungies from 2020. Everything after that was just spin-offs. The channel now feels like how Nickelodeon has felt for years: spin-offs, cash grabs and endless repeats. It feels like a desert.

Just literally give us something, CN. Anything.

Unfortunately, that's what I can see it right now , the last cn original show they have premiered was in 25 january this year by airing the final episode for craig of the creek

25 january 2025 marks the end of cn original shows so

You're right about that, @Red Arrow. But did you know a lot of people on YouTube are saying CN Real ( which was Ouweleen's idea, not Snyder's) wasn't that bad as they thought? Read the comments and you'll see!

PPGZ was just a missed opportunity. What do you think? It would feature an alternate dub supervised by Craig McCracken.

DEWD. I recall that back in the late 2000s, people on YouTube were even believing that CN was over. Like I said before, 2007-2010 feels like child's play compared to today: an Abyss of Nothingness. The former tried keeping afloat with action, limited comedy and some live-action output, the latter is marked by a lack of new original ideas (what you say in the last phrase just sums it up) and, above all, limited promotion for the newest titles (Fionna and Cake was a victim of that).

If things go too far for Cartoon Network, and if nothing is done to save the creative team, then Cartoon Network will end up like Jetix. The channel put its original productions on halt to prepare for a new network (Disney XD) that had new original titles. Though it's much worse here, as a hypothetical new network would rely on existing IPs.

In a way, it's like the Videlectrix guys, except that instead of good graphics, it's all about "good ideas".

Maybe once the big media crash comes in CN can rise from the ashes again.
Frankly, i don't see it.

We live in very different times, especially of cord-cutting now.

However, CN could still survive as a subservice on HBO Max, but clearly, the money aren't spent there.

It's basically a zombie channel, and I agree with Red Arrow the bar has never been set so low as now

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
