- More info on Nintendo Switch successor is revealed (which includes finally showing off the console to the public eye)
- Fire Emblem Heroes servers possibly shutting down (it has longer life support compared to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp which lasted seven years and that title recently got transformed into Pocket Camp Complete. Meanwhile FEH might likely have several more contents planned for 2025)
- Sony confirms that the ability to purchase, download, and play new content on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita stores will finally be discontinued permanently after two decades (they tried doing this back in 2021 but failed. However, given the fact that most titles have been getting removed from the two stores and given how Nintendo and Microsoft shut their old digital distribution services (Nintendo with their 3DS and Wii U eshops in 2023 and Microsoft with their Xbox 360 stores in July of this year), I feel like Sony might be getting ready to announce an actual shutdown for the two old digital stores sometime during 2025. They also likely won’t be reversing the decision this time. Redownloading previously purchased content for PS3 and PS Vita will likely remain available. It would end up being a really sad day for PS3 and PS Vita players who have enjoyed shopping and browsing through the digital stores for two decades. A lot of gamers would be saying goodbye to two of the oldest surviving 2000’s stores with memes, fanarts, and articles like “Sony finally pulls the plug on PS3 store after 20 years” and so on
- Bandai Namco confirms that Soulcalibur VII is currently in development and it is slated for a late 2027 release (The confirmed consoles will likely be the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Steam. I also hope the Soulcalibur account on Instagram does new posts again sometime in the new year. They haven’t posted anything since April 2021. Also, 2025 will mark the 30th anniversary of the original SoulEdge/SoulBlade arcade game so maybe Bandai Namco could plan something surprising for the Soulcalibur fanbase?)
- Nintendo will celebrate Super Mario’s 40th anniversary with a lot of surprises, announcements, and events (possibly a first look at Mario’s next 3D adventure for the Switch successor?)
- Tekken 8’s Season 2 character revealing to be Julia Chang (Anna is basically confirmed to appear in the Year 2 DLC so possibly Julia Chang will be added to the game this pass as well)
- Bandai-Namco also should do big plans for Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary like collabs, events, and surprises
- Nintendo continuing the tradition of releasing ports and remakes of existing titles for the Switch (they are doing this to prepare for the launch of the Switch successor. The late 3DS era did the same thing as well. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Xenoblade X Definitive Edition are the only titles confirmed so far and more are likely to be announced in the new year, such as Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and Metroid Prime 3 Corruptions)
- Metroid Prime 4 Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A will likely get new information released
- Sakurai announcing his next game in which he started back in 2022 (could it be Smash on Switch successor? Or will it be a new title for the new console before Smash 6?)
- More Kingdom Hearts IV information released
- Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Game & Watch Galleries 1, 2, and 4, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, the GBA Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Wario Land II, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, etc. getting released on Nintendo Switch Online
- Genshin Impact’s Switch port confirmed to be canceled (no information about this game has been released since 2022 so possibly miHoyo may announce the game’s cancellation?)
- Tekken 1, the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games, Ape Escape 3, PSP LittleBigPlanet, and Tekken 3 will release on PlayStation Plus Premium
