Future of Discovery Family?

Why is it so important that DFC shut down? It isn't doing anything wrong by existing. Like, you seem hyperfixated on just DFC and ignoring the state other networks are in.

Again, there is zero source that airing on DFC prevents Netflix from having MLP seasons 5-9. After all, if Tubi TV has the entire run, then I doubt DFC is the reason for Netflix not having it.
Didn't you even read that Twitter post? It says:

"Discovery has the rights to 5-9, hence why Gen 5 doesn't reference ANY characters from those seasons. Season 1-4, even Gen 1-3 were all alluded, but no Starlight, Pillars, Student 6, Flurry Heart, Cozy Glow, or reformed Changelings. Likely the reason the show was overall lacking."

That Tweet is only from a fan, not from someone who actually worked on MLP or Hasbro. Can't really use a random fan's Tweet as the big evidence.

All I see from that source is: "Hasbro Inc. (“Hasbro”) had the right to put the entirety of its remaining 40% interest in Discovery Family to the Company. Hasbro did not exercise the right by the election period expiration date of March 31, 2025. As of March 31, 2025, Hasbro’s noncontrolling interest was reclassified from redeemable noncontrolling interest to noncontrolling interest outside of stockholders’ equity on the Company’s consolidated balance sheets."

This is basically what I wrote on my Tweet, I just put it into plain English so it's easier for people to understand.

My Gym Partner's a Monkey will air weekends at 1 P.M. starting October 11.

Interestingly, it has the same creators as Littlest Pet Shop 2012, which still airs. I don't know if that's a factor in this airing though.

This is certainly a surprise

it will be the first time the show appeared on TV since...2013?

And still, we don't see anything happen to Hasbro's shows for almost a year now, while Summer Camp Island, which has only aired four out of six seasons so far, is no longer even airing on weekends.

I think that Hasbro automatically renew the syndication rights for their shows on DFC and it isn't going to change until Hasbro decides to end the syndication rights.

It may change after WBD split the linear TV business, my guess.

I think he hopes Hasbro drop all of their shows and end the 40% ownership, allowing WBD to take 100% of ownership.
Even then, I doubt it's ever gonna happen. If they didn't do it back in 2021 when their last shows for DFC ended, they probably aren't gonna do it now.

I think he likely to see a major change after WBD split the linear TV business completes, in case if Skydance or other corporation didn't buy WBD.

If not, it is going to be endless waiting.

Furthermore, the weekday schedule has only gotten one change since January 1, 2025 -- Mini Beat Power Rockers replacing Jabberjaw on June 30.

Well, we got one update. Littlest Pet Shop 2012 will be removed from the schedule this month.

Not a big loss since it's all on Tubi and by this point they were only airing the same 26 episodes from season 4 rather than anything from seasons 1-3.

At a server I'm in someone said "I thought this faded into obscurity"
