Digital UK has officially confirmed that the HD switchover is finally happening to Freeview in the UK!
From 30th June, PSB1 becomes MPEG-4/DVB-T2, with all BBC channels switching to HD only and all BBC Radio stations switched to AAC Stereo, marking the end of SD for the BBC. HD copies for BBC One, Two, Three, Four, CBBC and CBeebies will be removed.
BBC One HD - Ch101 > Ch1
BBC Two HD - Ch102 > Ch2
BBC Four HD - Ch106 > Ch9
BBC Three HD - Ch107 > Ch23
CBBC HD - Ch203 > Ch201
CBeebies HD - Ch204 > Ch202
From 10th July, PSB2 will also convert to MPEG-4/DVB-T2, with all ITV channels, Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4 and Channel 5 switched to HD. All ITV regions becomes HD, as well as the Channel 4 ad regions. PSB3 is freed up to launch nationwide HD versions of 5STAR, 5USA, 5ACTION, 4seven and E4 Extra. Old SD copies will be removed.
31st July: All commercial muxes will convert to MPEG-4/DVB-T2, with some of the channels going HD only:

To help people prepared, Digital UK launch a help sceme to help DVB-T viewers to switch to a recent TV set or set-top box. There’s also other alternatives such as Freesat or Freely.
