Minor fears: Knives, spiders, bad guys.

Major fears: My immortal soul.

My worst fear has to be giant long legged spiders, I don't know why but they stun me for some reason. And it's a bit hard to kill them since.. I don't like killing things to begin with. >_> Most of the time it's a accident or just a quick reaction of "KILL DA SPIDER".

I've mentioned this before in an earlier thread, but I have gifirophobia (the fear of crossing bridges) due to a traumatic experience that I suffered when I was 4-years-old. I was tossing rocks off a bridge over a small creek, I threw over a very big rock and fell off of the bridge right along with it. I blacked out and had to be taken to the hospital. When I came to (briefly), I was on a stretcher in the emergency room bleeding all over the pillow. I had to have stitches put in my head. Ever since then, I am absolutely terrified of crossing high bridges over traffic or water. I can't even look over the edge of high bridge. People think that I'm nuts when on the upper level of a mall and I try to avoid standing on the edge.

I'm not too crazy about riding elevators either.

I don't know why I have the fears that I do, but I've been scared of spiders for a long time. I've been getting a lot better about it though. I also have a minor fear of heights but it's not that bad. I also have a strange fear of talking on the phone with anyone who isn't part of my family.

Major fears:
-Spiders
The smaller they are, the worse it is. Granted, I don't want to be around a tarantula, but I don't give to worry about the huge ones coming from the attic through my fan and descending Mission: Impossible-like onto my bare back in the middle of the night.

-Heights
Or, rather my clumsiness causing a quick return to the ground.

-Wasps
Didn't used to be all that afraid of them, but one summer we had quite a bad infestation in the back. Although I never got stung, one landed on my back for a short trip as I was walking my dog - and I was constantly nearly walking into a hovering one.

-Large spaces
I prefer tiny spaces that I can keep an eye on at all times quite easily.

Minor fears:
-Walking around the neighborhood
Even though people commonly do it, I constantly have the paranoia that with my usually unfriendly appearance people might think I'm up to something.

-Calling someone
I just keep worrying about whether I'm bugging them or not, same for even instant messaging.

-Storms with heavy winds
Living in Tornado alley will do that to ya.

Anginaphobia (the fear of choking). As a little kid I had the habit of putting things in my mouth and chewing on them; one day I was chewing on a little plastic toy piece from my Six Million Dollar Man action figure set and I accidentally swallowed it. (There's a reason they put warning labels on toys these days, kids!) I felt my throat close up, my lungs being cut off from air, I saw things start to go black and I couldn't talk or maintain my balance. If my mother hadn't been there to perform the Heimlich manuever, I would've died.

To this day, I chew my food really slowly and take really small bites of everything out of fear of choking to death.I can't even see people choking on TV or movies (even when it's for comic effect) without my hair standing on end a chill running down my spine. I always have to turn away or cover my eyes.

Hmm... while I'm not really afraid of spiders, they do make me uncomfortable. When they're touching me, at least. I don't mind being in the same room as them or anything. Same thing with a lot of insects. I've always loved ants, though, for reasons I don't quite understand... I can watch an ant poking around for hours.

Heights, too. Makes my stomach churn. Which is odd, because I imagine the sensation of falling from a high place - skydiving, bungee jumping, that kinda - thing, would be pretty nice.

And enclosed spaces where I can kinda move my arms but not well enough. Like, y'know those covered slides, where you can wiggle your arms but you can't, say, stretch them. Gives me panic attacks. If I can't move my arms at all? I'm fine with that. But only kinda moving them? Nightmarish.

...and no, I haven't the slightest idea WHY I have any of those fears.

I fear Spiders , cockroaches & big sized flies
I used to be afraid of angry people, now I either think "How Troublesome" or laugh or ignore

Mostly wasps and hornets for me. It seems like an odd fear since I've never been stung by one, but they just make me cringe away if they happen to fly near to me. We actually have some hornets that like to hang around under the eave outside of one of our windows in the summer, and even when I stand there regarding one from the other side of a screen AND a glass window pane, I can still feel the hackles on the back of my neck go up. :p

I was quite afraid of most dogs when I was younger, but that has since diminished to merely a sense of general unease around them. I no longer think that they're two seconds away from biting me, but I'm still quite fine with not being around them.

I'm afraid of germs. I don't like to be around dirty things, especially raw meat, and I wash my hands a lot.

I guess you could say that I'm also afraid of riding escalators. If I ride an escalator, I'm afraid that I'll fall down and break my head, or possibly die. If I'm ever in a place that has escalators, I just take the stairs instead, if there are any.

I'm afraid of falling down stairs. Both my high school and college have many stair cases and I carry around a lot of bags with me for school. I've actually only fallen down once, but I don't like the idea of falling down at all and I go down stairs quite slowly.

I'm also afraid of seeing anything dead. I don't know why, but ever since I could remember, my skin has crawled whenever I see anything dead, whether it would be a snail or roadkill. It just bothers and creeps me out so much.

my fears:
spiders
bugs
heights
really bad thunderstorms(my area had a tornado warning yesterday)

Fire. I love fireworks and candles, but every time I smell smoke I get a little nervous. Living in an old house that probably needs rewired doesn't help.

I guess this is a fear too: other than my mom I rarely call people on the telephone and if I do it takes a lot of working up to it. Even if it means sitting in a restaurant for my food I do that rather than calling ahead.

Mostly bugs, and to think it was all caused by re-visting my house in Animal Crossing after a month...

There's also my fear of burglars, my reacurring dreams of being robbed and then killed in different situations should be an indication of that.

Um...

Dogs- Big ones, small ones. Any ones that bark at me and look hungry. This fear is probably caused by the fact I'm short and skinny and some dogs could possible eat me.

Elevators- I dunno why, but ever since I started gonig to the library. We'd take the elevator from floor 1 to 2, but I just hate the way elevators kind of bounce when they stop at your floor. This made the Sears Tower heck for me. :ack:

Big Places- I just like knowing what's going on around me. It feels safer. This goes in hand with...

Being Alone- I rarely go for a walk or a bike ride alone, or go pretty much anywhere in public. I mean, I can, but it feels awkward.

Water- I just learned to swim in my freshman year of high school. I never went to any large bodies of water when I was little, so it seemed silly that I should learn how to swim. Anyways, now I just don't like deep water.

and to finish this long, long list.

Bridges- Especially the ones that arc up. I don't trust those stupid beams to hold me from possible doom (ex. Falling into the Maumee River)

Heights. Thats about it.

Deep water, drowning and chocking.

I managed to overcome my fear of many vermin so I am the one who deals with all the mice problems in my household.

Was once afraid of driving because I got into a car accident when I was very young but now I am driving.

Spiders - No matter the size, I just can't handle them. I can trace this back to playing Sim Ant at age 6. When you, the ant, got caught by the spider, there would be a close-up on the screen of the spider eating you and it terrified me. I can't stand the things anymore.

Stinging insects - I was stung in the hand by a wasp when I was 9 or 10. I remember it hurting terribly so now they scare me. I have a feeling it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was at the time, but that's what happens when you're a kid, I suppose.

Snakes - They just give me the heebie jeebies. Ick.

Heights - I can fly and ride roller coasters without a problem. But getting on ladders, hiking mountains, escalators, etc terrify me. I suppose I'm more afraid of losing my balance and falling a long way than anything. With airplanes and roller coasters, there isn't anything to worry about with my balance because you're strapped into your seats. The others involve the chance you could slip and fall. That's what scares me.

Enclosed spaces - I trace this one back to riding an enclosed, completely dark water slide at a water park when I was younger. I'd never had a problem with tight spaces before, but that water slide terrified me that I might get stuck and be unable to find my way out. Ever since, I can't do enclosed spaces. I had an MRI on my knee a few years ago in one of the tubes; I only went about halfway in but I was close to freaking out. Completely illogical, but I can't help it.

Driving over bridges - I'm more afraid of the bridge collapsing and not being able to get out of my car before it sinks... seeing bridge collapses on the news doesn't help.

Wow, looking at the above, I feel like a complete scardey cat
