"Fantastic Four" Reboot Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Some people thought Chris Evans wasn't blonde enough. I wouldn't want to see their comments if this happened.

Hmmm, okay and Marvels First Family will be the new normal. I'm not sure how this is something that will please the fans.

The primary audience is usually made up of non-fans or casual fans so I don't think they have to worry.

So... are they going to make Sue a half-sister or cast a black actress as well? Just curious, I don't think I'd mind much either way.

As much as I strongly disliked Chronicle, I could probably see this guy as Johnny (even though Evans was a dead-on Torch).

Well since it's impossible to please all the fans it's best to just ignore what they think and just try to make something good.

I like him in Chronicles, but maaaaaaaan, this is a BIG mistake. WHY? JUST TELL US WHY? This is like the new Beverly Hills 90210.

I think he'd do a good job, and it might create some hype for the film, but they'd have to either make Sue black too or have some kind of in-story explanation. He could play Reed or Ben, too, if he would be better in those roles. I just hope they don't decide to awkwardly change the comics to match the movie, the way they rapidly shoehorned a black Nick Fury into 616. It just feels cheesy, as if the comic is subordinate to the film even though the comic is the source material.

I really like FF. My father and i would watch the old cartoons. All the characters should be WHITE in this movie. We tried the Alba as Sue and she's a pretty woman and solid actress, but those movies were horriable. But it's out of my hands. If they go this way, He should be adopted into Sues family. Sue should still be White. I'm not saying he can't do a good job. He's a good actor and has the energy of Torch to pull it off.

The alternate Fury came before the films.

You haven't provided any actual argument for why they all need to be white, though. And I can't believe Jessica Alba in a blonde wig wasn't white enough for you, she's played white characters throughout her career.

I know that the black Fury came before the films. In the Ultimate Marvel Universe, where he was black from the start and it worked well. But the gymnastics to make the 616 (mainstream) Marvel U Nick Fury match the Ultimate and movie one were abrupt and silly.

Glad to know that the previous movies weren't bad because of bad writing, directing, or acting, but because they had a mixed-race woman playing Sue. Good to know.

Besides, the fact I agree the Fantastic Four should be traditional to the comics, your argument includes that Alba was a solid actress. Really? She's a pretty woman who is marginal on screen at best. If this film ever happens at FOX, it needs to be more than what the previous films brought to the table. Changing the origin messes up the whole thing, kinda like Batman losing his parents after high school or something akin, and messing with properties like this ruins storytelling.

No, it really doesn't. Making it so that Johnny is adopted does nothing to mess up their origin at all. Unless I'm missing something and Johnny's DNA was only altered because he's a blood relative of Sue. There's literally nothing about making Johnny black that "messes up the story" or "ruins storytelling." This idea that comic adaptations can only be good if they're totally faithful to the 60's funny books is some weird myth fanboys on the internet like regurgitating even though there's not an iota of truth to it.

True words....true words.

Never did see that chronicle movie yet...hopefully it'll grace netflix with its presence :P

This is kinda similar to Perry White in Man of Steel played by the matrix dude(yeah, he has a name. You can tell me later.) What I find hilarious, is that these potential/previous FF actors are not what we label them to be. Black? White? I...have never laid eyes on an albino individual. I think its time we open up our minds a lil. Especially in this post-modern politically correct society. Never even seen a black person either. A "black" person? Abstract of light? C'mon now.

The writing and acting were bad, but the casting too. I like Alba, but she is not Sue Storm! She came off like Halle Berry in the X.Men films- weak as all hell! This is coming from one of the only people in America that thinks she can act.

Once again i guess it's more about me wanting to see FF they way i saw them in the cartoons. This is not an attack on bi-racial woman or people. Tell me who's not bi-racial anyway?!

And tell me, what does that have to do with Michael B. Jordan's casting here? Have you seen his audition? Some leaked footage from a movie that hasn't started shooting? Aside from the fact that he's a minority as well exactly what does his casting have to do with Alba's bad acting?

Comic book movies change stuff from the source material all the time, and have done so since the beginning of the genre. Curiously, it's the racebending that seems to draw the most negative attention, never mind the other changes....

To be honest, I agree with RedSpur on both accounts. Jessica Alba wasn't bad, she just wasn't how I had pictured Sue Storm. And as for Michael B. Jordan, yes, he is a good actor....but he doesn't feel like a Human Torch.

How does he not feel like Human Torch? NOBODY HAS SEEN HIS PERFORMANCE. Literally the only objection seems to be that he's black.
