"Dragon Ball Daima" Series Talkback [6/14-11/1]

Kid Goku readies for his latest battle, and even the Supreme Kai showed off some moves this episode. Truthfully, I thought Goku was hiding in Panzy's stuffed toy when the Genderme cleaned out the plane. At least she got that pesky collar off, and now the rest of the DB gang is on the way.

Time for a mini-boss battle.

Episode 8: "Tamagami"
The fight with a Tamagami begins! The Tamagamis are the undefeated guardians of the Dragon Balls. Seeing Goku fight toe-to-toe with one, Panzy and the others are unable to hude their surprise. As the battle heats up, what will happen?!

No spoilers or opening your menu.

Last time: A typical police stop in the Third Demon Realm.

Riffing solo on these shows is starting to get a little lonely.

So much for the forehead poke.

If this were Smash Bros., Goku would be sent into the stratosphere by now.

Yeah, Thor's hammer it ain't.

"Ready to do this for real?"
You mean you weren't?

We would like to remind spectators that those of you in the first few rows are sitting in our splash zone.

Another fight with s Saiyan, another part of the map needing to be redrawn.

"But first our final battle."
That wasn't it?!

Oh, I hate these shell games. I can never resist them.

Yeah, see? Rigged.

One down, two to go.

He sounds like he's about to make a drop.

Classy guy, that Tamatami.

Way to blow your cover, Goku.

They became DBZ fans, it seems.

I don't remember seeing her in that episode.

Nothing says lovin' like something from the coven.

Behing every great evil wizard stands a woman.

Maybe take out the part of him that can turn people into chocolate. That one still makes me uneasy.

*hhhhhllllch* ptoo!

Hybis on the horn. What's your 20?

He sounds like the king from Disenchantment.

"Mud-colored wine is my favorite."
"What does it taste like?"
"What do you think?"

Ask nice, Vegeta.

Awesome. Loved the action. The amazing and consistent animation quality continues to be so dope. Got chills when Goku was readying his Kamehameha! Great mix of DB and DBZ. Loved that he earned the Tamagami's respect in the end and in goofy DB fashion, the final battle was just the cup game, lol. Pretty cute the Tamagami was practicing the Kamehameha.

That was some crazy reveals, Arinsu was there when Majin Vegeta blew Fat Buu up and collected a sample. A witch really created Majin Buu and not Bibidi. And now Arinsu's trump card is a new Majin Buu she can supposedly control so she can become Supreme Demon King. And the Dragon Balls are just Plan B. Hope it's a new design/character rather than them recycling the design of the transformed Android 21 form. Holy moly, they only beat Kid Buu because of the ki Mr. Satan was able to help collect with what Goku had. How the hell can they pull it off in Demon Realm... unless this becomes more DB than DBZ, heh.

heh heh, Hybis ignored Vegeta. Even funnier for Bulma and Piccolo because they know Vegeta is a prince.

The battle for the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball occurs in the 8th episode of DBD. The episode starts with Tamagami 3 accepting Goku's challenge after Goku confirms he is here for the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball. The battle starts with Goku using the Power Pole against Tamagami 3's hammer while complimenting each other's respective skills and it proves intense enough to draw the attention of the town's inhabitants; Shin is impressed by how Goku was able to get used to the heavy air of the Demon Realm's 3rd World in a few days while Panzy is impressed by how Goku is putting up a legitimate fight against Tamagami 3. Eventually, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan (1) and manages to break Tamagami 3's hammer leading Goku to sheath the Power Pole to continue the fight without weapons with Tamagami 3 willing to oblige. During the fight, Goku learns that Tamagami 3 can shoot energy blasts which eventually leads to a beam struggle; in the end, Goku uses the Kamehameha to win the beam struggle and transforms into Super Saiyan 2 to land a blow powerful enough that leads to Tamagami 3 surrendering.

Goku returns to his Normal Form after Tamagami 3 surrenders and the town's inhabitants cheer while Panzy is surprised that Goku successfully won the match. Nightfall comes as Tamagami 3 explains to Goku that there is a "final battle" which is, essentially, a "mental battle"; for this particular "mental battle", Tamagami 3 plays a "shell game" by putting the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball inside 1 of 5 cups and shuffling the cups around on a table leading to Goku needing to accurately guess which cup holds the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball. Despite Tamagami 3's great speed at shuffling the cups around, Goku accurately guesses that Tamagami 3 tossed the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball out of the cup at the last second and points out that it's now floating above the waiter's head. Tamagami 3 praises Goku for passing the 2nd phase of the battle and draws the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball back to him before handing it to Goku. After fixing his hammer, Tamagami 3 compliments Goku for his fair & courageous fighting style and wishes him luck in collecting the Demon Realm's remaining Dragonballs; Goku thanks Tamagami 3 who smiles in response to Goku's thanks as he resumes his initial stance.

The town's inhabitants cheer for Goku while Panzy is still amazed by how Goku successfully completed Tamagami 3's challenge and Shin notes that 2 of the Demon Realm's 3 Dragonballs. During all the celebrations, no one notices Glorio calling Arinsu to confirm that the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball has been obtained. Arinsu is pleased to hear that Goku is still powerful enough to challenge the Tamagami even in the form of a kid as she considers this a sign of being "ahead of schedule". Arinsu ends the call by encouraging Glorio to keep up the good work and keep her updated as progress continues; after the call ends, Arinsu decides to begin her "main plan".

The town's inhabitants bid Goku's group farewell as they take off in the Gendarmerie airship with the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball wrapped up in some kind of cloth along with some "to go" food; even Tamagami 3 cheerfully waves goodbye to Goku's group while practicing some fighting techniques. After taking off in the Gendarmerie airship, Glorio notes that the group will have to "stay between land & sea level" on the way to Sir Warp in order to avoid being caught; Panzy asks why this approach is necessary as she thinks it'll take some time before the Gendarmerie can report them and Glorio responds by pointing out that Goku obtaining the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball attracted an audience who is likely to spread word of what they saw (he even describes Goku with the description the Gendarmerie gave him to emphasize his point) which Panzy concedes is a fair point. Back in the Demon Realm's 1st World, Gomah & Degesu use the magic monitor in the Supreme Demon King's Castle to rewatch Buu regenerate after Majin Vegeta uses the Final Explosion & upon zooming in to a great degree, they discover Arinsu was present and she stored a sample of Buu's scattered pieces in a container. Gomah & Degesu figure Dabura probably told Arinsu about Buu being "in play" but try to figure out what exactly Arinsu is planning.

Meanwhile, Arinsu uses her flying broom to arrive at a building on a floating island with a giant tree. Entering the building, Arinsu enters a room that is a laboratory where an old, leg-less/floating purple demon wearing a bone necklace with a green orb and a black outfit that bares a red "M" that resembles the style of the Majin Symbol is stirring a cauldron. Arinsu asks the purple demon, whose name is revealed to be "Marba", if there are any updates for something and Marba (voiced by Laurie Steele) confirms that the sample of Buu's scattered pieces that Arinsu collected was exactly what she needed and she takes the cauldron outside after it finishes brewing. Outside of Marba's house is a round stone and Marba begins to pour the contents of the cauldron into the stone.

As Marba pours the contents of the cauldron into the stone, Arinsu comments about how she's hoping for better results in the form of a more powerful Majin (one she can't "take in a fight") and Marba assures her that she thinks Buu's essence being mixed in will create better results. Arinsu is annoyed that Marba isn't 100% certain of the results and makes this known by claiming Marba is the witch who created Buu. Marba becomes tense by this claim and insists how the wizard Bibidi was the one who created Buu but Arinsu responds that she knows that the truth of the matter is that Bibidi had hired Marba to create Buu but most mistakenly believe Bibidi created Buu and Marba is perfectly fine with that mistaken belief being perpetrated because it means she avoids being blamed for the damage Buu caused; Arinsu also mentions how Buu's initial rampage in the Demon Realm is what lead to the majority of the surviving Glinds to escape to the Mortal Realm. After Arinsu assures Marba that she's willing to keep the truth secret, Marba admits that Buu's impressive power was a fluke and she still considers his creation a failure due to not being able to control him which is why she instructs Arinsu to add a sample of her saliva to the mix as this will lead to making it easier to control this new Majin (along with being able to "share information without the need to speak"). After Arinsu adds her saliva to the mix, she assures Marba that Marba will be rewarded for helping if she succeeds in becoming the new Supreme Demon King and that she'll use the Demon Realm's set of Dragonballs as a backup plan should any problems arise; Marba is surprised to hear this backup plan and considers it to be an impossible plan but Arinsu assures Marba that she has "pawns" who have succeeded in obtaining one of the Demon Realm's Dragonballs.

Back in the Demon Realm's 3rd World, Hybis is piloting the airship through the sky with Vegeta, Piccolo & Bulma as passengers. Kadan calls Hybis to inform him that they recently found out about how Goku successfully obtained the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball and he's passing word along to Hybis. Everyone at Kadan's Castle is throwing a party to celebrate and Kadan informs this update means his group should meet up with Goku's group on the way to Sir Warp; since it'll take Goku's group a few days to get to Sir Warp, Kadan instructs Hybis to take his passengers to a hotel for the time being. After Hybis finishes the call from Kadan, Vegeta demands Hybis tell him what he knows about the Demon Realm's set of Dragonballs but Hybis refuses to talk to Vegeta for making rude demands. The episode ends with Vegeta (begrudgingly) apologizing to Hybis and (begrudgingly) politely asking Hybis to share what he knows about the Demon Realm's set of Dragonballs.

With this episode, 1 of the Demon Realm's 3 Dragonballs has been obtained. I found it to be an interesting twist that the Tamagami challenge was split into 2 phases in the form of brawn & brains. Even in his Kid Form, Goku still has access to Super Saiyan 2 and it reminds me of how many were confused about whether or not Super Saiyan 2 was ever used in GT. The biggest lore revelation of this episode takes the form of the introduction of Marba and the retcon to Buu's origins although one could argue that Bibidi could still be considered Buu's "co-creator" by virtue of being the one who commissioned Buu's creation while Marba performed the actual creation process. It's worth noting that this isn't the 1st time Buu's origins were retconned as an interview with Akira Toriyama around the time when DBZ Kai was initially airing described Buu as a demon who existed since the dawn of time with Bibidi merely discovering a spell to summon him.

So the Supreme Kai's wickedly beautiful sister continues her machinations, while Goku keeps fighting (and eating). And next week looks to be a steal.

We'll leave the light on for you.

Episode 9: "Thieves"
Rumors of what Goku did in the third Demon World spread across the Demon Realm. To avoid trouble, Goku wears a disguise at the hotel, but they can't let their guard down in the Third Demon World. Thieves see through his disguise!

Continental breakfast is from 7 to 10am, checkout time is at 2, and no spoilers.

Last time: Demon World Dragon Ball GET!!

“Also I broke a nail!”

Goku looks like a Happy Meal toy.

Hey, I looked at that kid's hair for a split second just long enough to recognize him!

This hotel used to have standards.

Well, this is going in their Yelp review.

"Goku...pull my finger."

I've never see a reverse werewolf before.

PULL MY FINGER!

Looks like they're blasting off agaaaaaaaaaain.

He always calls every night when she's away from home for long.

This is going to be a boring two-minute sequence.

Now let's catch up with the B squad. Who ALSO can't seem to hold onto a plane.

OT: Blue Exorcist: Thousand Year Blood War is coming to the block.

Mos Eisley is just full of carjackers.

Zombie Game seems kinda unfair to the zombies.

I only have belt buckles for you.

You kidnapped their friend, and you didn't think they'd come looking for him?

Is that them? That is a plane normally used by--oh wait, it's them.

Could you just maybe fly alongside us?

We're going on ahead good luck guys!

So either beat up some barflys or Zombie Game.

I'll take a potato chip...AND EAT IT!

You should see him on his good days.

Bojack Horseman just never knows when to fold 'em.

Cybermen seeds? I thought they came from a factory.

Majin grow from spores? I thought the stork delivered them.

He looks more like Cell than a Majin.

A new Majin is born in the 9th episode of DBD. The episode starts with Goku, Shin, Glorio & Panzy still flying via the Gendarmerie airship. After Panzy yawns, Glorio figures they should rest now but Panzy becomes annoyed when Shin points out they should set up camp in an obscure area because she wants to bathe & sleep in an actual bed. To make sure others won't recognize Goku as both the one the Gendarmerie are looking for and the one who obtained the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball, Panzy puts a hat on Goku's head to hide his distinct haircut and Glorio figures Panzy's idea for a disguise will suffice.

Goku's group lands in a town on a floating island, shortly afterwards. Glorio points out that Goku should leave the Power Pole on the Gendarmerie airship because its part of the description the Gendarmerie gave in their search for Goku while Shin points out they should keep the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball hidden while out in public which leads to Panzy storing it within one of their many bags. After entering the hotel, Glorio tells the others that he'll order a room for all of them to share as well as room service for the sake of being cautious. After Panzy comments how lucky they are that Glorio has enough money for such accommodations, Shin admits he thought Kadan would be covering the financial aspects of their quest which leads to Panzy explaining that her dad isn't willing to spend more than necessary, especially not until Gomah has been defeated.

Unfortunately, Goku takes off the hat he is supposed to wear as a disguise due to it making his head itch and Shin & Panzy don't realize this until after 2 nearby demons see Goku before Panzy forces the hat back on him. The 2 demons note that Goku matches the description of the one who defeated Tamagami 3 and piece together that the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball is in the bag he's carrying which leads to them planning to steal it in the hopes of selling it for a lot of money. Later on in the night, Panzy finishes taking a bath and insists Goku take a bath too while assuring him he can borrow some of her clothes for the night until his usual outfit is cleaned. After Goku finishes his bath, he sees that room service has provided a lot of food and he's all too happy to start eating…while the bag with the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball remains nearby.

Suddenly, a blue werewolf causes trouble in the hotel's lobby which causes Goku's group to leave their room…which leads to the werewolf whistling and the yellow bird demon breaks through a window to fly off with the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball. Glorio realizes too late that the werewolf was causing a distraction so the bird demon could steal the bag…but Panzy reveals to the others that she placed a tracker on the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball in case of an emergency. Outside a cave above the hotel, the bird demon meets up with the werewolf who transforms back into the blue demon with the white Mohawk to gloat about their successful plan…only to be surprised when Goku finds them shortly afterwards. The thieves try to escape but in the end, Goku manages to reclaim the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball and Glorio uses his magic to throw the thieves into the sky.

Goku & Glorio return to Shin & Panzy with the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball and Glorio offers Panzy a fist bump while complimenting her for coming up with the idea to use a tracker and Panzy returns the fist bump. Not long after, Panzy finishes a call with Kadan and lets the others know about the plan to meet up with the trio being guided by Hybis somewhere near Sir Warp. Glorio asks Goku if his friends are strong enough to "hold their own in a fight" and Goku confirms that's the case for 2 of the 3 (Vegeta & Piccolo) which Panzy admits she finds "scary". To avoid any possible future thefts of the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball, Goku decides to stand guard for the night while the others sleep…only to end up falling asleep eventually although Shin points out that the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball is still safe by the time morning comes. Seeing that no one else was willing to try to steal the Gendarmerie airship in the night, Goku's group are able to take off without any problems and Glorio mentions that it should only take them about a day to get to Sir Warp using the Gendarmerie airship.

Meanwhile, it's revealed that Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma & Hybis spent the night in another town…and the group wake up to find their airship is missing. Hybis immediately figures out that it was stolen and he suspects that it was probably stolen by the group of demons that picked a fight with Vegeta in the town's bar last night after he accidentally bumped into one of them; a flashback of this incident is shown in the form of Vegeta remembering the events of last night. Hybis thinks to call Panzy so that her group can pick up his group and even suggests a way to pass time with a game…that involves taking out Zombies in the nearby "Zombie Forest" with the risk of being turned into a Zombie. After declining to play the Zombie Game, Bulma takes notice of the eyeball in Hybis' belt buckle and he explains that he found it in the mountains of the Demon Realm's 3rd World years ago.

Back in the Demon Realm's 1st World, Gomah & Degesu are inside the office of the Supreme Demon King's Castle when Degesu is calling the Gendarmerie. After the call ends, Degesu admits to Gomah that some of the Mortals that were turned into kids have succeeded in entering the Demon Realm and Gomah immediately suspects that they're trying to rescue Dende. Degesu also admits that he was informed via the call that the Z-Fighters are trying to collect the Demon Realm's set of Dragonballs which Gomah isn't worried about…until Degesu admits that reports confirm that Goku successfully obtained the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball. When Degesu meekly mentions his hunch that the Z-Fighters are planning to head to the Demon Realm's 2nd World next, Gomah demands that Degesu think of a solution before grumbling about he should've used the wish to obtain the Evil 3rd Eye/Tertian Oculus.

Back in the Demon Realm's 3rd World, Vegeta senses Goku's energy signature as the Gendarmerie airship lands in the town. Bulma & Panzy quickly introduce themselves while Panzy is also surprised to see a Namekian for the first time via Piccolo and Piccolo explains to Goku that Kibito is helping Mr. Popo watch over Kami's Lookout. After Goku confirms having the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball, Vegeta wants to head off…but Goku explains that the Gendarmerie airship doesn't have enough room for more passengers and Glorio isn't willing to remove their cargo to try to make more room. Panzy offers to call Kadan to have another airship sent out (while admitting it'll take some time) while Shin can only apologize for the inconvenience before Goku's group leaves.

Shortly after Goku's group leaves, the group of demons that picked a fight with Vegeta in the town's bar last night arrive to pick another fight with him and even brought more of their friends as backup. After the group of demons confirm that they did steal the airship with a "mid-size passenger load", Vegeta responds that he gets to "unload [his] travel stress" on them and he proceeds to easily beat up the group of demons with Piccolo helping out a little; the group of demons apologize and reveal that the airship is hidden "nearby". Back in the Demon Realm's 1st World, Marba decides it's time to add 1 of 2 Saibamen seeds she has left to the contents of the cauldron that was poured into the stone outside her house and she instructs Arinsu to plant the Saibamen seed only 5cm (1.9685 inches) into the contents of the cauldron out of concern that planting the Saibamen seed deeper would make Buu's essence more prevalent which could lead to this new Majin being harder to control. After the Saibamen seed is planted & watered, the new demon is fully created with Marba describing him as "concocted from various monsters with the Saibamen serving as its base finished with a splash of Majin Buu's essence" and dubbing him "Majin Kuu"; Kuu's design could be described as looking like a fusion between Kid Buu & a Saibamen. Arinsu immediately instructs Kuu to challenge Tamagami 1 and obtain the Demon Realm's 1-Star Dragonball; Marba is surprised by this but Arinsu insists that Kuu has "no reason to exist" if he isn't powerful enough to challenge the Tamagami. The episode ends with Kuu (voiced by Gerard Caster) responding to Arinsu's instructions with "Orders acknowledged".

Overall, this episode focuses on the aftermath of Goku obtaining the Demon Realm's 3-Star Dragonball which includes Gomah finally catching wind. Although the 2 groups of Z-Fighters in the Demon Realm have reunited it's short lived due to the larger airship being hidden until after the reunion. Bulma taking note of Hybis' belt buckle looking like an eyeball reinforces my guess that it'll turn out that Hybis has the Evil 3rd Eye/Tertian Oculus. Some more lore is revealed in the form of Saibamen seeds originating from the Demon Realm and Marba being able to make some cash on the side by selling them to buyers from the Mortal Realm. While this new lore does tie into the Saibamen having pointed ears, I find myself preferring the original explanation of the Saibamen being created by Saiyan Scientists as it helped to show how the (Universe 7) Saiyans' society had more going on beyond just being battle happy and the idea of most things originated from the Demon Realm is starting to remind me of how the Ben 10 Franchise's "UAF Era" had a tendency to have most things have alien origins.

Well, the element of surprise is officially over now that Gomah knows they're in Demon Realm.

Heh heh, Vegeta was disappointed he couldn't even blow steam beating up the bandits. :D

Yeah, that totally threw me for a loop the Saibamen are from Demon Realm. Guess they weren't made by Saiyans after all.

Majin Kuu. Alright. I think we got enough big bads...

Kid Goku comes through again, although he and his party really need to start protecting their stuff better. And Vegeta finally got to beat someone up, even if Bojack Horseman and company didn't last two minutes against him. Next week looks to be intense, even alarming.

C D C?
S X-L-R-8-10!

Episode 10: "Ocean"
Goku and his companions arrive at the mystic Second Demon World where a giant ocean spreads as far as the eye can see! The party is amazed at the new world but is immediately attacked by Gendarmerie that have been sent by Gomah!

No spoilers.

I love how the show treats Vegeta like he’s weird for wanting his wife to look like an adult

Last time: Obviously the hotels aren't exactly five-star.

Fight all you want, just don't turn anyone into candy.

"You're not Gendarmes!"
No, they're just regular arms.

My dad's in the police, and he'll TOTALLY arrest you!

Bulma enjoying her second childhood.

It'd be weird, him married to someone who loos like they're ten.

Now back to the robot and the cockroach.

In this world, the krakens release themselves.

I'm guessing all these destroyed planes put a hole in the show's budget.

Squidward looks pissed.

If you can't take care of your plane, you shouldn't be allowed to have one.

That's an old ident.

I was not expecting them to pull out an old ident. Even weirder when you consider it’s a Clyde ident and the Clydes died almost 6 years ago.
