"At New York Comic-Con last month, Marvel announced their next big comic book “Crossever Event” storyline, titled “One World Under Doom”. Following the events of last summer’s “Blood Hunt” storyline (which ended with Doctor Doom claiming the mantle of “Sorcerer Supreme” from Dr. Strange), Doctor Doom is set to return as THE prominent Marvel Universe villain in a storyline that will have major ramifications across the Marvel Universe. The main mini-series will be written by current “Fantastic Four” Writer Ryan North, with artwork by R.B. Silva. Now Marvel has released the solicitation for February’s “One World Under Doom” Issue #1, along with covers and preview art.
The storyline announcement also follows the reveal last Summer (at San Diego Comic Con) that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Universe to play Doctor Doom in the next 2 Avengers films. Is it possible this comic storyline is to set up (or align with) plot points from the upcoming films? Maybe, but Marvel has long teased that the inclusion of Doctor Doom was more for them to do a version of the 2015 “Secret Wars” comic storyline (arguably the most iconic Marvel storyline of the last decade)."
