Permit me to ask what potentially is a very silly question: is it possible to purchase original art either from a comic book company or a creator? I have seen some sites on the internet, but I don't know what the generally accepted way of doing so is, if it even exists.

In short, I'd love to be able to purchase some original Batman art (for some reason, I don't feel like getting a poster), but I'm not sure if I can.

I know there's artbooks for some manga/anime series but I'm pretty sure that's there a few DC/Marvel artbooks if you look hard enough on the internet.

Yup. Some creators sell them directly through their websites, others go through an intermediary, and you should be able to find plenty of original art for sale at comic cons. You'll find scores of some on eBay, and in general, if you search Google for the name of a character, comic, or artist followed by "original comic art", you should quickly find some for sale.

Comic book artists usually deal their artwork through an art dealer. Albert Moy is an example but they are many more than him.

Is there a particular artist you're interested in? If so google their name with "original art" after it, that should bring up some good results. Just typing "Batman original art" should bring up a load of results alone. Hope that helps!

And that link was the one I think I needed, screw on head, as the artist I'm most interested in is Jim Lee, and his work is on that web site.
