Friends don't lie.
Sam Kieth, the comic book artist and writer best known for creating The Maxx and co-creating Sandman, has passed away at age 63 after after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia (the same disease Robin Williams that suffered from):
Very sad. I loved his art, and he's like the first of the earlier Image Comics creators to pass away (even if he wasn't a founder of Image or anything).
I'm glad I got to meet him at the Rhode Island Comic Con a few years back.
I know he had plans for a series of graphic novels in his "Troutverse" (or was it "Trout-A-Verse"?) line of comics, that would have culminated with a story that explained at least some of the lingering mysteries from The Maxx. Hopefully, these may see the light of posthumously.
In any case, rest in peace, Sam. Your art was beautiful.
