CN Schedule Updates

I don't think US Turner will ever promote Boomerang on Cartoon Network in order for shows to make a transition to Boomerang. Hence, the reason why people remain without access to Boomerang, unfortunately :/

I think that Supernoobs and Sonic Boom would be better fit for Boomerang because both shows are foreign and aimed more toward younger kids.

CN should bring back reruns of Pokémon and Transformers though.
Why would this be a reason to put them on Boomerang? I thought we wanted more variety, not less.

And technically Pokemon is foreign too, since it comes from Japan. So why put Supernoobs and Sonic Boom on Boomerang for being foreign and yet bring back Pokemon?

Yeah, I see literally NO reason to put ANY show on Boomerang now. I think CN was like "Well, Disney XD worked so lets give it a shot!" But they forgot the major reason DXD worked with replacing Toon Disney. It's because Disney Channel actually advertises the network and the exclusive-ish shows they air. And when Disney Channel does air XD shows, it usually under a block called "Disney XD on Disney Channel". You don't see a "Boomerang on Cartoon Network" block, don'tcha? The 2 hour block doesn't even have a name.

And from what it looks like on Boomerang, with the 8pm hour going back to Teen Titans Go, they've given up.

Would you guys say that the rebrand was a failure?
Not really, but in all honesty this thread is getting off topic we are barely talking about the schedule at this point it is time to just talk about what CN does with scheduling please.

So basically CN is better programming-wise and Disney is better distribution-wise.

i wonder if pokemon's contract with CN is running out, thus they dropped the weekday airings, and gave the 7 am slot to XYZ, as it may be getting moved to another channel, so they are downplaying it before contract expiration, and then will continue on another channel during the season like how the WB ending went to CN during the season

Oh yeah, Transformers is also new this Saturday. S2 premiere and so far literally no advertisements for both shows. Ain't that something.

Also I just realized that CN is probably the only network to air shows ranging from TV-Y (Baby Looney Tunes) to TV-MA (majority of Adult Swim's originals).

I don't that's the case. For starters, this isn't the first time Pokemon has lost its weekday repeat slot on Cartoon Network. I think this has happened at leat a couple of times already. The reason why Pokemon eventually lost that on the WB was because they lost their afternoon lineup completely, so this isn't quite the same situation. This also isn't the first time Pokemon premieres have been at 7AM either. Like I mentioned before, there was a good chuck of DP that premiered at that time slot. I think it was around Galatic Battles and went on until just before the Sinnoh League episodes started.

While it's still not a good thing for all of this to happen, I think that the idea that Cartoon Network is trying to get rid of the show or aren't interested in keeping it is a huge conclusion to jump to. It's not impossible, but it is pretty darn unlikely that they'd want to drop it at this point, especially when XY probably has another year or two left and they might give it better treatment whenever a new main series game comes out.

Actually, most of [a$]'s newer stuff is TV-14 now. Guess Williams Street finally bowed to advertisers and moral guardians. Only the more extreme stuff is TV-MA nowadays. Turner has been pushing the block in a more mainstream direction since Rick and Morty.

To be fair, TV-14 programming gets away with much more than it used to now. Mostly that you can say the S-word unbleeped several times. I bet if S2 of Rick and Morty was released 3 years earlier, it would be rated TV-MA (and with the s-word bleeped)

Seems like you only get TV-MA now if you go past the set amount of S-words or use the N-word (Rick and Morty S2's improv episode, Black Jesus), have tons of gory violence (Mr. Pickles, Some of Toonami's shows), or are just too bizzare (Eric Andre)

Considering the show's treatment, lack of advertising at this point is not surprising, after all they never make any type of ad for shows airing before 10am.

who said they were trying to get rid of it.. it could be tpci saying we want to find a new home for it, and cn has no say in that if the contract is running out.. im sure tpci has their beefs with cn already as it is... cn could make an offer to them, but if tpci doesnt want to entertain that deal until seeking other networks, thats up to them.. if cn attempted to ship pokemon off to boom, you can bet tpci would seek other networks to air it before the contract runs out, so theyd have a plan in place

I'm guessing that Disney XD will more than likely be the new home of Pokemon in the Americas once CN's rights potentially run out. (CN hold US and Latin American rights) They are after all the rights holder in much of Europe and Africa. The show also airs in South Asia on Hungama TV, a Disney-owned channel. I've heard they did a pretty good job of relaunching the show there. If you add the Asian and Australian channels in the mix, and Corus moving the show from Teletoon to the Canadian XD, I foresee XD becoming the global home of the series (outside Japan of course). Maybe they can air the new seasons near-simultaneously worldwide. Of course, it all depends on the route TPCi wants to take.

I'm not sure why TPCI would really want a new home for Pokemon though. Aside from some of the edits they've made to the last couple of movies, I don't think that they'd have that much of an issue with Cartoon Network to the point of finding a new home for Pokemon. I'm sure other channels would like to pick it up if the series became available, but all things considered, Cartoon Network is probably the best channel. Disney XD would be a good place, but it is still worse than Cartoon Network if only because it isn't as widely available. There's also really no chance of Cartoon Network shipping Pokemon off to Boomerang, or at least that seems extremely unlikely at this point.

Again, this kind of treatment towards Pokemon isn't really new. It still isn't good, but I don't necessarily think it's a sign that either Cartoon Network or TPCI wants Pokemon off the channel. I think that people are just jumping to pretty huge conclusions over little to no information. They most likely moved Pokemon premieres to 7AM due to their new Saturday morning lineup and they wanted better timeslots for their own shows. I don't think that we have to assume the worse based on what we actually know right now.

Pokémon probably wouldn't last very long on Disney XD because most of their acquisitions are removed entirely within a year or two.

Some people really do underestimate how big Pokemon actually is. Also, i really don't see a move to Disney XD, considering that will only result in lower ratings.

Yeah, I'm sure they're doing wonders with Yo-Kai Watch!

If Pokemon were to move somewhere else, I think it would most likely be Netflix, as they're adding alot of Pokemon content recently.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.
