C&C - Toonami - [SATURDAYS]

Weird, no Bebop end credits or preview?

Later.

Great night for the return - it's not prime Toonami, but it's at least as good as the last year or two in its lifetime. A few more bumps and such and we'll be rolling - two thirds are solid, a third is amazing, what more can you ask for?

There needed to be more Toonami branding and bumps. But it's a great start, and it was a fun night. And this time, we know it's coming back next week. :D

Long live Toonami!

Toonami back, all is right with the world, I'll be watching every Saturday night especially the NEW stuff. New eps of Bleach, Deadman Wonderland, Casshern Sin...put em together and you get 90 minutes of AWESOME!!! lol.

I am pleased with the block, I hope it does well and grows, and maybe by 2013 it can have all of Saturday night. Heres hoping! *knock on wood*

I enjoyed it.

...with the exception of Bleach, which I cannot stomach for anything more than five given seconds, this is actually a much better lineup than I expected. I don't love it, but I can definitely work with it. The new stuff was interesting enough to keep me engaged (was quite surprised how much I liked Deadman Wonderland, brutal as it was), while the old bits were still fun and kept me going until the end. As far as TOM and everything else is concerned... it was all good, of course, but obviously that goes without saying (just needs a bit more now; the Toonami "presence" was lacking a bit).

Needless to say, I'll be back next week. It's not perfect; the budget is small, we could still use more bumps, and it's not my ideal lineup by any stretch (even if I still enjoyed it), but dammit, it's Toonami, and it works. Just remember guys; with better ratings comes a better product, so KEEP WATCHING.

I'm reasonably sure Toonami was killer in ratings tonight. Moving forward, here's my best guess at the line-up.

EDIT: Sketch said this might not be allowed. Considering this is a prediction and not a fantasy, I think it's valid, but that's at the mod's discretion
EDIT2: Better safe than sorry. Mods: would a schedule prediction be permissible, or does that fall under fantasy rules?

Come fall, after Casshern and Panty and Stocking finish up, I think Toonami won't need a repeat anymore.

Ya... no. I think the repeats are here to stay.
Without the repeats viewers would literally have only ONE chance to see the episode each week before they have to wait till the next cycle and if viewers miss episodes, they might just give up trying to watch these things on toonami... unless toonami can pull something as crazy as getting a second night, then the repeats are the only way viewers can get a second chance to see an episode they might miss, or if they just plain want to watch it again... Furtharmore, i think Adultswim knows that there is a limit to how many hours people will watch the same block and know that they are better off just repeating the block instead of just airing new different stuff all night.

So your second schedule is probably the best we can hope for... after we get to that one, then we will have to wait until deadman wonderland has repeated 3-4 times so that it would be dropped to make way for something new. And that's how they progress from there; show the whole series, repeat a few times, then make room for something new.

I think they'll keep at least encores of anything new or recently added to the schedule but they could stand to go back to running unique programming that isn't encored 2AM-4AM between the encores.

I figure they cut down to 3 hours and a repeat so they wouldn't have to make bumps for more shows and now that they have bumps for those 6 they can remain on in non-encore slots when they get second runs.

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but every TOM bump after the premiere was "[this show] is over, and now [other show] is up next" except for one: Casshern Sins. I think Adult Swim has something in mind to replace Deadman Wonderland if the ratings hold up.

All in all I was happy with the "coming up" bumps as well as the TOM bumpers from last night, I enjoyed the video game review as well as some of the things TOM had to say, you could definitely tell Adult Swim was on a budget though with what they were doing. The TOM intro was a quick one and they didn't do other Toonami-esq things, but I was very happy with what I saw last night and I look forward to next week's airing. Especially for all the fantastic anime action......which is the MOST important thing, after all.

The highlight for me bumper-wise other than TOM's amusing Casshern Sins preview ("We would never do anything like that"), was that unfortunately short Cowboy Bebop intro. Ed giggling "We're here!" at the end of the intro is basically a love letter to us fanboys. Bebop's finally on Toonami . . . took it long enough. :D

Though yeah Richie Branson's Toonami song airing in the intro was pretty badass too. XD

Though yeah there were pieces missing. Only GITS and Bebop got any show-related bumpers (though they seemed customized to the episode that was airing so that was cool). It really makes the low-budget Toonami more obvious than it would've been, because TOM and the Absolution look really, really good. I want to see what Williams Street can do when their budget increases. Considering every show on Toonami trended on Twitter last night (Deadman was actually top-trender for a while), I hope that translates to ratings.

Overall not a bad night at all. It just needed a few more bumpers, but hopefully that'll come in due time. I am very anxious to see the ratings for this. I'm sure they'll be above normal, but how much above is the question.

Anyone know when we'll get the ratings in? I'm really excited to see how well everything went.

All the clips from last night for those of you who are interested.

Yeah, more and more Toonami bumpers will come once the ratings prove to be solid, it's just a matter of time while they build us a "better cartoon show". Want to know more on how you can help? Check out the link in my sig.

Seriously, just keep spreading the word and keep talking it up, the more support you gather for the block the better off it will be. Watch it, enjoy it, love it, support it.

Stay gold.

Bang. :tom:

Weird, no Bebop end credits or preview?

Its been like that for a couple years now. They use to air the full ED, then they shortened it. Now it's gone. I think they did it for commercial airing time. I asked Jason DeMarco if they would ever restore it and he said no.

The problem with restoring any piece of the end credits or preview would be that the only other place they could cut is the opening credits.

And I'm sure no one wants to cut or shorten any of that iconic opening sequence.

If Deadman Wonderland can get on Toonami with only language edits, they should totally run Higurashi.

Major Motoko Kusanagi of GITS:SAC 2nd GIG became the first naked lady on Toonami to NOT be dressed in a digital bikini.

How many of you noticed that?

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
