C&C - The Venture Brothers - "Assassinanny 911" [7/7]

Another strong episode, although not as good as the last two. I liked Molotov back in Season 1, and I like her more now as the crazy babysitter. Hank hiting on her was funny, and I liked the scene with the fight between Dean and Hank. But nothing beats the "My pants are haunted!" scene. And it was good to see a small cameo by Dr. Orpheus and Triana (and her friend).

As for Brock's storyline, I thought it was alright. It's good to see Brock actually has an interest in the family now, as oppsed to the stoic, disinterested guy he was way back when the show started. I really liked his backstory about how he learned the tricks of the trade, and I loiked how it tied into the rest of the show.

Also, it's good to see that Junior Addelburg grew up to become a plastic surgeon (Please tell me I'm not the only person who recognized the voice).

4/5 This may very well turn out to be one of the best seasons of any show aired on AS.

Who says the timeframe is different?

Maybe the sausage business wasn't working out.

Not as good as the other two but... *Stabs other posters in their feet with pencils.*

4/5.

EDIT: I just now got the haunted pants thing. It totally didn't register for me until now.

Tiger, Crane, Monkey, Snake... doot!

perhaps the second funniest part comes in the first half when Molatov is teaching Hand and Dean to do martial arts.. seeing Hank touching Molatov's navel and gonig "Doot!" that was a laugh riot (at which point Molatov grabs Hank's hand and twists it so hard he's whimpering in pain).

But what's odder is seeing Hank doing "The Butler Bit" for Breakfast in bed (and in fact this whole thing starts to make the Brock and Hank Cloning bit a bit more plausible and perhaps really the truth behind season 2.. Then there was the scene where Poor Moll has to do mouth to mouth on Hank, "ergh, Milk breath!"

But then of course comes that funnier part.. "Your father thinks I'm a Doody head!" schtick for Hank before she shows up .."The Hanksies" who tell Hank to Kill dad..(Talk about raging hormones!)

still funny nonetheless! DOOT!

:coyote:

He probably just peed his pants.. the dude was acting out a song by The Doors (also referencing Apocalypse Now with the Machete..), in which a man goes and kills his entire family and rapes his mother, after getting some injections courtesy of spiked boots. Or am I the only one who caught onto the reference to "The Doors"? I probably wouldn't have noticed if he didn't sound exactly like Jim Morrison's vocals during that part of the song.

Rusty's Blanket reference.

Actually Timmay I caught the "Doors" reference in the final few moments but i bet no one caught the reference in the limo where the agent in the car with Brock makes a refernece to Operation "Rusty's Blanket". I saw that as an obscure reference to an old 1970's TV Show called "Dusty's Treehouse" (Some middle aged guy who had a treehouse who talked to kids about a lot of stuff). Also "Rusty's Blanket" Could have been a spoof reference about.. dare i say it? ...

Peewee's Playhouse??!!

hey it could have been that weird obscure reference... , but then again, I'm hoping that it really was about.. "Dusty's Treehouse, rather then.. Peewee's Playhouse...

but at this point, who knows which reference 'Operation Rusty's Blanket' could have been.

These "references" seem to be just people looking for references in every line.

Great episode and a great parody of S.H.E.I.L.D. Line of the night...

"I had to check!"

Not as good as the first two, like many have said. It felt like a Season 1 episode (which isn't a bad thing).
Couple of notes:
-Where the hell was Jonas Jr?
-Great Brock subplot with him in training
-Underneath all that violence, Molatov does seem like a good babysitter...

Oh and great discussion in this thread earlier...
Adult Spoiler:
There's nothing like reading a discussion over weither Hank mastrubated or not!

"The Doors" reference is the only one I caught, and I'm absolutely sure of it because it's word for word tone for tone reproduction. Everybody else is probably being crazy.

I'll take your word for it. But, honestly, it doesn't matter either way which is what's nice about VB's references. Like if you didn't tell me I wouldn't find the scene any less funny because I didn't get it. Same with the Hunter S. Thompson. Even the wet dream/peeing your pants thing is funny either way you look at it.

Though, adult spoiler:
C'mon, the apache's built a tent in his pants and he was dreaming of Molotov... these aren't things that lead to wetting the bed with urine

I am a MODERATOR i know EVERYTHING you MOTHERFU

He definetely creamed his pants, the joke works a lot better that way.

There was also definetely a Doors reference.

And I don't see the Pee Wee thing.

How could Dr. Venture confuse a half-ounce of semen with a quarter-cup of pee? They don't throw water balloons at forest fires.

Last night's episode took on a different perspective. I enjoy evil villans to stop out of the limelight once in awhile and let character development do the rest. There was alot of Brock development last night along with Molatov too. We found out why Brock loves Molatov so much. When they first met twenty years ago, Molatov gave Brock some sort of love venom when she punched navels in his body. The venom hasn't really worn off. There were alot of great Molatov training the VB scenes. It seems when they are without Brock, they look pretty pitiful to me. Another great coming of age gag with Hank involved and shocking ending for Brock finding out that his trainer is getting a sex-change after all these years. The Venture Brothers still crack me up.:D

I think Rusty's Blanket is supposed to be the codename of Brock's current assignment, protecting Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture. Maybe the real reason Brock lives at the Venture compound will have some relevance later this season.

Most of the references are intended though, Apocalypse Now/The Doors, S.H.I.E.L.D, Hunter S. Thompson obviously. I doubt the Totally Spies one though.

VB is the Best show on the Swim right now by far. My favorite bits were Hank's butler get up, Brock putting his seatbelt on before crashing into the water, milkbreath, and Hunter talking about vampires.

On the all important point of whether or not Hank was peeing or spewing.

He wasn't sleepwalking as much as drugged by the spiked heels and confused.

He was touching himself a bit uncontrolably in that scene as if he had no idea what was going on in his pants.

Why would Dr. Venture examine Hank's wet pants? He was acting stupid and afterwards he had a wet crotch. Doc just sent him to his room (or would have had Molatav or Helper bring him up), he didn't strip him down and take samples. And as mentioned, Doc was clueless to what was going on.

I guess it could have been peeing or made a different mess in his pants, but "a gentleman doesn't ask and a lady doesn't tell."

I thought he was dressed as a Chippendale's dancer. You know, those strippers that were popular with women back in the '80s? They wore bow ties and black pants with no shirts.

Yeah you're right, I guess hank thinks that the look that women can't resist. Little Hank is growing up, but still has a long way to go.

Also, I think several hints that have been given that Hank was cloned from Brock. I've thought that since the first season episode when both thought that scuba was a funny sounding word. The only problem with this theory is that if Hank was cloned from Brock you would think he would be more a killing machine, or at least more capable with the ladies.

Jackson Publick practically dedicated the first 5 minutes of dialogue to Bowie in an episode last season, so yeah I have to agree it's a Doors reference. I think Rusty's Blanket is just some sort of explination that we don't have yet as to why someone like Brock Sampson is wasting his life protecting the Ventures.

I'm really glad CN stuck with this show-another fantastic ep. 4.5/5

Has the animation style changed at all since season 1 though? I thought everything looked amazing last night, but it seems like they changed up the character designs a little.

I don't think semen would be noticeable at all. It's not as liquid as urine and less of it would be produced. If he ejaculated in his pants Dr. Venture likely wouldn't have been able to tell.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
