OPENING: We Go!

A Surprising Fact! The Man Who Guarded the Sunny!

Synopsis: As word of the Straw Hat resurrection spreads through the Navy, Luffy and his crew get acclimated to their underwater environment, and Franky reveals the startling identity of the man who protected their ship.
----

Deadly Combat under the Sea! The Demon of the Ocean Strikes!

Synopsis: The Straw Hats are attacked by a rival gang of pirates, but that may be the least of their worries. Luffy and his crew are on a collision course with a cantankerous Kraken.

Although the Manga and Anime are still going, please no spoilers.

Tonight:

Although, considering Luffy's appetite, it may go more like this:

Previously on One Piece: No time for catching up. The audience has waited long enough for Fishman Island.

That's for the summary Narrator man.

Buried alive. Damn, that's brutal.

Captain Black. Not to be confused with Blackbeard.

Whoa! Young Gold Roger! And he had a straw hat!

Wow. That's simultaneously beautiful and utterly terrifying.

"If you poke that bubble and we all die, I'll kill you...twice!"
So that's...three times they'd die?

So, a 70% chance of sinking. I like those odds.

So Kuma separates the Straw Hats and then protects the Sunny. Either he's bipolar or he has some very mysterious motives.

Amazon Lily: Amazon's new floral division.

Underwater pirate ship battle. Only in One Piece.

Wait, is that...?

Ugh, so much recapping.

Oh hai Mohmoo. Just goes to show there's no One Piece character too obscure to be brought back.

Ah, Arlong Park. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Caribou doing the Eneru face.

Sorry Caribou, Franky is not taking your crap.

Chopper stealing Brook's thunder, LOL.

Was that Shenron?

When it comes to skeleton jokes, Brook's dying.

An underwater waterfall. Doesn't that mean it's just a big drain?

"Mother Nature, you one crazy lady!"
Yeah, pretty sure Mother Nature in the One Piece world is taking quaaludes.

Usopp, what world do you think you're living in?

Release the Kraken!

Capture it? What, like a friggin' Pokemon?

Well, that's it for the Caribou Crew (the Cari-crew)

I am becoming increasingly skeptical of these bubble physics.

Chopper's guard point point got a massive upgrade.

As usual, Robin's happy to lend a hand. Several hundred in fact.

OPENING: We Go!

Lost in the Deep Sea! The Straw Hats Get Separated!
Synopsis: After their quarrel with the Kraken, the Straw Hats find themselves in hot water as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji turn up missing, and the rest of the crew runs short on air.
----

Undersea Volcanic Eruption! Drifting to the Fish-Man Island!
Synopsis: Thanks to a little help from a friend, Luffy saves his mates from a ghost ship captained by a deranged Dutchman; their happy reunion is cut short by a volcanic eruption.

Although the Manga and Anime are still going, please no spoilers.

Previously on One Piece: Sorry to burst your bubble, Caribou.

Funny how One Piece's condensed super-long opening is actually about the length of a regular anime opening.

Recaps: Educating the uninformed or just buying time. You be the judge.

Release the Kraken! Which...actually looks pretty normal by One Piece standards.

Luffy turned black! First the afro, now this.

I'm less worried about Sanji holding his breath and more about him being crushed by the water pressure.

"I will kill you dead."
...Yes, that's what killing is.

A shark. And he's wearing a jersey. He's not from San Jose is he?

Give Franky a break. He's a shipwright, not a helmsman. When are you guys gonna get one of those anyway?

Oh boy. It's the ocean depths, where all the creepy fish live.

"Do you wonder how I can see without eyes?"
No more than I wonder how you can move without muscles, speak without vocal chords, or poop without a colon.

Franky is well on his way to becoming Caribou's nemesis.

Oh no! It's the Macra!

And blobfish!

Huh. Wasn't expecting that voice. Why does he sound like Chopper?

Smoke in the water, fire in the earth.

Blobfish!

The Flying Dutchman. The boat, not the Spongebob character.

Of course it's the Flying Dutchman. Can't you see it's labeled as such to confirm its authenticity?

Guys, I think at this point we can safely assume that all legends are real.

"The Kraken saved us! ...Wait, the Kraken saved us?"

Hey Luffy. Had a pretty strong feeling you weren't really dead.

It's like the Rite of Spring segment from Fantasia. Only underwater.

Sorry Surume. You've fallen in with a dangerously crazy crowd.

Sorry Usopp. No one's interested in your backstory.

It's always darkest before the inexplicable light in the bottom of the ocean.

Fishman Island ahoy!

Can we shut up about Sanji's pervertedness already?

Sea cows. Sea monkeys. Sea everything.

I always wonder this, are members of the Marines eligible to collect pirate bounties?

OPENING: We Go!

Landing at the Fish-Man Island: Beautiful Mermaids!
Synopsis: The Straw Hats finally make it to Fish-Man Island, but their reputation precedes them, leading to trouble with the New Fish-Man Pirates. Only a daring maneuver can get them out of hot water, but there's no guarantee they'll survive.
----

Excitement Blow-out: Sanji's Life Under Threat!
Synopsis: When Sanji gets up close and personal with a mesmerizing mermaid, his extreme fondness for the female form lands him in a life and death situation. Could the Straw Hat chef die from a nosebleed?

Although the Manga and Anime are still going, please no spoilers.

Previously on One Piece: Welcome to Fishman Island. Please mind the giant animal fish.

Yeesh. Getting a late start tonight, thank you very much Cosmo Samurai and Made in Abyss.

"Sea monsters! Giant ones!"
As opposed to miniature sea monsters?

Arlong? Come on, man, that was, like, 400 episodes ago.

Hammond? Rather bland name for an eel man.

It's like being covered in plastic wrap.

Bubbles within bubbles within bubbles.

Hey Camie! Nice to see a familiar face. At least familiar to those who've seen the entire anime.

So these five mermaids represent Theism, Evangelism, Atheism, Agnosticism, and Nihilism.

New island means time for some world-building.

Fisherly Hills. Hah.

And Sanji's dream has come true.

Uh-oh. It's Arlong Mk. II

Man it's hard doing these commentaries alone.

Nice Mohawk Franky.

Please, mermaids, don't encourage him.

Jinbei. Former warlord and an all-around badass.

I really think Eric Vale must have been considering tendering his resignation letter while reading these lines.

Say hello to three of the most weirdly-designed characters in One Piece. And in this show that's saying something.

I think he just expelled more blood than the rest of his body mass.

Why is it that when male anime characters come into contact with a woman's breasts, they're like "what are these big squishy marshmallow-type things"?

Grow up, Sanji.

SRH Negative? The hell kind of blood do people have in the One Piece world?

Yeah, so we're actually turning the gross nosebleed gag into a serious plot point.

Just so we're clear, this is not my favorite One Piece arc.

Hordy Jones? Not Hody? Funimation, why you be weird sometimes?

Sinking feeling? ...Ha, I get it.

We don't cotton to you filthy two-legged types round these parts.

Just so we're clear, this is not my favorite One Piece arc.

To be fair...is it anyone's favorite? :P
And I'm not dissing this arc, BTW. Like all One Piece arcs, it has plenty of good stuff to praise - but the general consensus is that this is ne of the weakest arcs (by default). Also, unfortunately, most fans agree the anime version is worse than the manga version in this case.

The Sanji nosebleed gag got old very quickly, though. Making it an actual important thing (Kind of) is almost clever - but not quite.

So does anyone know if episode 542 was ever dubbed. I remember there being rights issues with just having it streamed. Were those issues resolve.

OPENING: We Go!

The Fish-Man Island Will Be Annihilated?! Sharley's Prophecy!
Synopsis: After two generous donors save Sanji from death by nosebleed, Luffy and Usopp take a tour of the island. But their welcome is worn out when a mystic mermaid has a terrifying vision - that Fish-Man Island will be destroyed at the hands of a Straw Hat.
----

The King of the Fish-Man Island! Neptune, the God of the Sea!
Synopsis: After reuniting with Nami, Luffy and the gang are invited to the royal palace of Neptune, god of the sea; the New Fish-Man Pirates exploit the power of a designer steroid in order to terrorize humans.

Although the Manga and Anime are still going, please no spoilers.

Previously on One Piece: Not Sanji's finest moment.

No blood for you!

Uh, wouldn't do that if I were you.

Oh boy, more tasteless transgender jokes.

Ah, Impel Down. That would've been a good arc to see on TV.

It's Madame Sharley! Or "Shyarly" as her sign says. She should've hired a better typist.

She can see the future too. So they don't talk about...oh, I already made that joke tonight.

Ew. Are those mermaids necrophiles?

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
