C&C - Dan Da Dan Season 1 Talkback [7/26-10/11]

I didn't expect Grandma Seiko to be a hot granny...

lol she guessed everything right about that idol.

And her fight was entertaining but pity she's limited by territory. Also funny she doesn't believe in aliens. If Loved seeing the use of nails as they are used on curses in Japanese myth like Nobara's skills in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Naturally, they have to train to level up.

Interesting Turbo Granny fused with an anchored spirit but perhaps that will be her undoing with this tag challenge... but I'm skeptical it will be as easy as luring her outside the city. I bet it will be a hilarious tactic at the last second or some kind of deal will have to be made.

I have never seen a witch doctor do the pee pee dance before.

Perhaps the aura you need to grab is the aura in our mind.

When you gotta go...

Rush to the Restroom by Willy Makit, foreword by Betty Wont.

And coming soon: Puddles on the Floor by I. P. Frehley.

You wanted to get abducted by aliens, and now the girl you like is watching you pee.

I think a challenge was throwed down.

Now it's personal.

Try not to die. We're only three episodes into this thing.

Fighting spirits and looking good doing it.

Anyone still hung up on this show, you are going to want to watch next week.

Impressed how long Okarun was able to hold it in ... How old was Seiko when she became a grandma, 20?! And it looks like Turbo Granny isn't going away just yet, although that seems to be fine with a pissed-off (and better dressed) Momo.

Unless Momo or whichever of her parents are Seiko's child were teen pregnancies, Seiko would have to be early 50s at least. I mean, there are some actresses that age that are still fetching... but recall Seiko said something about being in contract with a local god so maybe a perk of that is retaining some level of youth or a side affect of her mastering that chi control technique? But if I'm not mistaken, the manga so far has not revealed Seiko's age if that makes you feel any better, lol.

Previously on Dan Da Dan: Okarun's crisis is saved by Momo's grandmother, Seiko; Okarun must now play tag with Turbo Granny to lift his curse.

Episode 4: Kicking Turbo Granny's Ass
Saturday 8/16 at 12:30 AM
Opening: Otonoke by Creepy Nuts
Ending: Taidada by Zutomayo

Synopsis: Momo and Okarun succeed in capturing Turbo Granny through their game of tag; a crab-shaped location-bound spirit approaches them.

Last time: Most grandmas just give Werther's candy.

Tonight, some animators earn their paychecks.

I hope one of you remembered the Scooby snacks.

"She's a little old biddy, not some ginormous alien."
How about a ginormous old biddy?

How'd they fit a Titan in this tunnel?

"I gave the little twerp his dong back."
Aww, that was nice of--oh.

You didn't count on her not being able to count.

One Mississippi, twelve Mississippi, negative one hundred forty-eight Mississippi...

Giving an old lady a heart attack? Honestly.
You could have just told her you slashed her social security benefits.

And now a giant crab.

Crabs must hate bears for some reason.

"I can't make the curve. You're too heavy."
Not a comment on your weight. It's just simple physics.

Well, you'll die, but at least you'll go viral.

Jambalaya, anyone?

Either that's an impromptu late night 5k, or...

FLCL has the Comedians' Galop. Dan da Dan? The William Tell Overture.

Remember, these children are imbued with spiritual powers. Do not try this at home.

Demanding respect of young people while not respecting them in return. It's no wonder kids are so messed up.

I just remembered - we've got a train to catch.

Did Sailor Scouts just pop out of that crab?

It was a #MeToo ghost.

They tampered in God's domain.

Come on, Okarun, now's your chance to get even.

To be honest, I wouldn't show an old lady my junk either.

I don't know why you say goodbye, she says g'bye.

This looks like the beginning of a beautiful, embarrassing, and at times quite awkward friendship.

What a cool medley.

So, is this goodbye to the series now that he's got his...
Guess not, there's more.

Great finish to the first arc!

Cooking the giant crab ghost was a hilarious idea.

That was a great twist that Granny was able to recruit ghosts from the cemetery but Momo and Seiko were pretty sneaky with her tactics, too. I also dug Momo's use of her powers with the psychic hands to move around.

This show is kind of messed up. Entertaining as all hell, but messed up.

Episode 5: Like, Where Are Your Balls!?
Saturday 8/23 at 12:30 AM
Opening: Otonoke by Creepy Nuts
Ending: Taidada by Zutomayo

Synopsis: Victorious against Turbo Granny, Momo and Okarun regain peace, but for some reason Okarun's thingie hasn't returned.

Last time: For the seafood diviner in you.

"Hi. ...OHCRAPIMSOEMBARASSED"

Nothing like a few supernatural experiences to bring two people together.

Planet sausage fest.

Another day at the bottom of the pecking order.

One can't help but think this "I can forgive them" speech would be totally different if he hadn't met Momo.

I haven't seen something about love and aliens this awkward since Vandread.

It's a bit 5 Centimeters Per Second around here.

CLICK YOUR TEETH AGAINST HERS, YOU BLOCKHEAD!

And cue friends who've got the wrong idea.

The more you deny it, the more apparent it looks.

Yeah, girls don't want you miming testicles in front of them.

A little thing called peer pressure, kid.

Boy, when you dump someone, you don't screw around.

Losing his ding-a-ling has made him weirdly popular with girls.

Holy crap! ...this school has a rock-paper-scissors club?

So long, pink haired girl we'll probably never see again even though you're in the opening credits.

Getting crazy Eureka-Renton vibes.

Meat-and-no-veg.

So he has the frank but not the beans?

For someone who still has Ken's balls, Turbo Granny's just a p***y.

What happened? Did you throw them so high and get them stuck in a roof's gutter?

Bit of a slice of life episode but a good breather after last week's one.

Momo's friends are a riot and will run with anything, lol.

Momo dealing with Aira was awesome. :D

Ah, so Granny is still in the mix. And she was the cat in the title and credits all along. Heh, only her consciousness is trapped in the cat. Seiko smacking her, lmao. Hmm, and Okarun now has her powers but she dropped his balls somewhere. lmao this show.

Kinpachi-sensei. Another thing I'll have to look up.

That darn cat statue.

Don't you just hate Mondays?

You don't have the balls! Literally!

She must really hate rotten tangerines.

Don't make him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

How do you lose a high school kid's thinking organs?

Okarun can't catch a break with his body parts. He and Momo constantly missing each other at lunch was humorous. Wanted Momo to deck Aria after the latter did what she did to Okarun, but hitting her in the head with a large metal object sufficed. Guess Turbo Granny isn't gone yet—and I always wondered how the cat doll was going to play into the series—but she's no match for Seiko.

Episode 6: A Dangerous Woman Arrives!
Saturday 8/30 at 12:30 AM
Opening: Otonoke by Creepy Nuts
Ending: Taidada by Zutomayo

Synopsis: Aira has the missing golden ball; she can now see invisible things, possibly due to the effects of the ball.

Last time: Okarun's lost his marbles. So to speak.

If you gather them both, can you make a wish?

Cats are useless as usual.

Anyone see a pair of testicles around?

You just now realize that?

Friends can be cute, too.

"You got a death wish or something?"
Do YOU?

ALWAYS beware the mild-mannered ones.

It followed me to school! Can I keep it?

Someone tells you your friend is cute and suddenly you can't look her in the eye.

Ahh, you again.
You're in the title sequence, of course you'd be back.

Don't touch that. You don't know where it's been.

Oh...you were there...

I think that washtub hit your head a little too hard.

Cats never follow directions.

Don't play with your ball like that. You're in school.

I see dead people.

Did this place catch fire at one point.

Lemme guess...the power of Christ compels her?

Uhh...they gonna be okay?

She's not the creepy lady...she's the one the creepy lady is after.

Oh jeez, Carmen Sandiego, what happened to you?

"Ball intel" now?

Is that a cat in your backpack, or are you happy to see her?

Dropping some lore. A ghost steals enough life force they can resurrect?!

They stomped Granny flat. rofl.

Rumor mill. lol, only now Okarun realizes Momo is attractive. Tracks it was pink hair girl. But she could see Momo's construct? And has a ball. Uh oh. Aira is her name. Ok. And she thinks Momo is a demon, ha ha! Of course, of all the people, Aira had some back story of seeing a ghost when she was a little kid.

The hand signs and her friends got it. lmao.

lmao, in his backpack. Cause Granny.

Momo with the save. But that was cutting it too close. Interesting Granny now has luck powers because she's in the lucky cat.

Acrobatic Silky seems like a yokai with a regret that prevented her from moving on. Given her obsession with getting girls to call her Mommy, probably has to do with losing a daughter when she was alive. The acrobatic part, a dancer maybe? She seems to be a combo of 2 Japanese urban legends (hence Turbo Granny not knowing who she was and calling her a rookie nobody), the Hachishaku (Eight Feet Tall) a very tall woman ghost who kidnaps children she stalks and Akusara who who has long hair, a red coat and a wide brimmed hat but no eyes and her mouth looks like it was cut from ear to ear.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
