It doesn't matter if Brett Farve returns or not. The Vikings AREN'T going to as good as last year with or without out him.
Last year, the Vikings schedule was SUPER soft. They have a beefed up schedule and if anyone thinks they'll come close to 12-4, I disagree. Even with Brett, the team's lucky if they win 10 games.
If he doesn't come, look for a high draft pick next year, because none of their quarterbacks are good. I still think that they should give Sage a shot. We've seen what Tavaris does, now lets see if someone can, at least, try to improve.
Either way, I kinda hope he doesn't come back. The Vikings can try to look to the future and they should have drafted a quarterback when they had 2 2nd round picks. Who's gonna replace him? Sure, they got this, Webb guy, but they want him as a WR, not QB. They'll be stuck trying to "develop" a QB (which they didn't do well for Travis) for the next 5 years and there's no bet that they'll be any good.
Zigi Wilf was hoping that the Vikings would get Farve, because after him, they're not as good as everyone thinks. Their offensive line's terrible. They allowed one of the highest amounts of sacks last year. Their secondary's AWFUL and can't defend any pass. They were almost, if not, last in pass defense.
I get the feeling that Zigi wants a new stadium, but the fact is that he's not a good owner. They get, like one good guy in the draft, and the rest are stiffs. He might move the team to LA, because no one in the state government wants to pay for a stadium. The economy's terrible. Plus, the team's excuse is, "Well, the Twins and Gopher's football got a new one." Yeah, but the Gopher's football team sucks, even with a senior QB. They didn't sell out every game and the students don't come to the games. Might be due to no serving of "adult" beverages.
To sum it up, I get the feeling the Vikings will be terrible, with or without Farve, due to the schedule. The Vikings won't get a new stadium, because the economy's terrible and the team might move to LA. The Simpsons had a song, for LA trying to get a team called: "Springfield Blows." I get the feeling that Springfield might turn into Minnesota at this rate.
I’m glad. I love Brett Favre – my favorite player in the league – but I just don’t think he can give another season. He really should have done this earlier, and because he dragged it out he’s going to be hated again in Minnesota for ruining the Vikings’ season, but I’m still glad. He went out on top – horrible interceptions aside – and he never lost to the Packers.
I don't think he blew it or the 12-man in huddle blew it. It still would've been a long field goal. I think it came down to typical Minnesota chocking.
I don't theink the Vikings would've won the Super Bowl if they beat New Orleans. Farve was hopping around and if he got hit by someone, he would've been on the ground and had to been carted off the field. Their secondary was all banged up and Peyton would've thrown all over them. I'm glad they lost, because they would've gotten dystroyed, by another good team.
People see that the Vikings lost 4 Super Bowls, but 3 of them were to "dynasty" teams of the 60's and 70's. Even the lost to KC wasn't as big of a deal. They were giant favorites, but KC's defense had only allowed, like 13 points, in their other 2 playoff games to very very good offense. I think one was one of the best in the league.
Minnesota sports chock at least once a year, if not many more times. All the major sports teams lost in League Championships in the early 2000's. Plus, all the major and minor Minnesota teams are, right now, terrible.
