AS Promotion...

Before getting all conspiratorial about this, I'm willing to consider they may be over worked, to be gracious, or lazy, to be harsh. I don't know how many people they have working on this kind of thing. It's standard operating practice in many businesses to leave a job sit there for months until it becomes a rush job.
I missed most of the commercial. I don't know anything about the show, and this didn't get me too excited. But I hate missing the first episode of a new show. Especially when it's high concept.

I just caught it during Bebop! the animation looks kinda underwhelming even if this batch of eps is from 1996! and "Jimmy" looks like Max from Pokemon Advanced!

All I'm going to say about this is you better start buying Detective Conan animation cells before the end of next week. Otherwise the prices will skyrocket through the roof.

Perhaps AS originally wanted a part of this show, but recently they realized that it just couldn’t fit, or was too long, or simply won’t hold the interest of its audiences. Well, whatever the reason it probably wont last long on AS. I really shouldn't say anything until I've seen a few episodes and can actually make a decision about it, but it certainly looks like a toonami-grade show. Its also funny that they don’t even have any clips of it.

Haha. I saw it right when they announced the show for the block. I thought "Oh great, another Yu Yu Hakusho." Meaning, eventually Detective Conan (I really prefer to call it that, but okay Case Closed) is going to Toonami anywhere from this fall to next year. I hope I'm wrong, but the commercial didn't do justice.

And yes Matt, Adult Swim promotions are horrible! I'm very surprised they didn't make big ads announcing the return of Adult Swim Action Saturday. Okay, mentioned on the cards and a few Animatrix commercials aired days before ASA returns, but seriously why would they not have promote it more. I mean, Toonami and Miguzi got promoted weeks in advance. Heck, Adult Swim didn't have a single ad announcing it's becoming a weekday thing back in the day. Just an ad for Futurama. They should be thankful that some of it just ends up working out.

Well, it's not just AS; Toonami's been declining. Now we're lucky if we get a 30-second promo a week ahead, instead of a 2 minute promo a month ahead.

That's true. Except for MegasXLR, it seems like Toonami is getting a bit shafted. I was angry that I only saw a Yu Yu Haksuho solo promo only before the show actually premired! I still sometimes see the "Better Cartoon Show" ad, but yeah come on guys. Well... at least they're giving "Brak Show returns" ad a bit of a push....

You'd think they'd at least acknowledge Cowboy Bebop or InuYasha. They acknowledge Sealab 2021, which airs ONCE a week, but no anime, even the ones that air M-Th and Saturday.

Come to think of it...that general promo doesn't acknowledge Saturday does it...

No no. Conan acts like a detective, but half the time, he also acts like a kid so he doesn't blow his cover.

However! However there are at least 2 real normal kids with him. So if ya guys hate kids in your "adult" anime, heheheheheh....

Y'know what would even be funnier? If they actually air the "omake" at the end of the episodes. Now, that'd really show the viewers how "adult" their ASA is!

This may be an old post, but uhhhh... I'm seeing previews all the time, albiet short, but previews none-the-less.

Case Closed starts next week and there's no ads for it, relatively little mention of it on the website, NO mention of it on their message boards.

Seriously?! I had no idea...

It just confuses me. I mean Adult Swim is probably embarassed by this show, sure, but then WHY DID YOU BUY IT?! That's what I'll never understand. Rather than give these shows a fair chance to see if there is an interested audience, they shamefully sneak it on the air without a peep so that only the internet crowd is aware, and then that way they can easily sneak it off without fuss, and then never bring it back.

In the past, I said because it was an anime related problem. These days, it looks like they're more into promoting themselves than the actual shows.

Lupin didn't get advertised until two days before the show debuted, and look where it is now. Kikaider only got five days of ads. That show got, what, one and a half runs?.

Why do you think they failed? I kept saying they should have promoted their product, but they didn't.

Am I the only one frustrated by this? Adult Swim claims they're the saviors of niche animation, and yet stuff like this makes them no better than FOX. No mention of the new ATHF on Mother's Day the week before. It was just like "oh, here's a new episode."

I guess I'm just confused because I thought they wanted RATINGS. Oh well.

Like I said before. It's more about promoting themselves.

Sort of like how McDonald's commercials feature a bunch of kids chasing a clown through a museum, with various wax cavemen saying, "I"m lovin' it!" with zero mention that they actually sell food?
